If you're in the mood to sip on overpriced cocktails amongst hidden political figures, come on down to the Regis bar. Just blocks away from the White House, you will find the St. Regis bar where you will be welcomed by a lavish red carpet, Louis V luggage, & grandeur ornamentation.

Broken shower handle for the hand wand

We only staysed one night, but that is enough to see the vlue is not there ... The location is centrally located, perfect in DC, the staff overall were nice .... but, our issues will keep us away from future visits. We had to move rooms, the new room still had issues (shower handle broken, cracked tiles, etc). The $40 destination fee is definitely not a value! The parking attendant, while polite, were very slow! Would not recommend.

Went for the cherry blossom afternoon tea and loved it! They have the prettiest presentation and the amount of food is filling compared to other afternoon teas in DC. Definitely get the signature cherry blossom tea or the citrus rooibos tea, very light but beautiful flavor profiles of white peach and citrus respectively. We wondered if the chef is asian or they purposely created the savory bites with asian flair as there were yellow daikon, kimchi stir fry, tobiko, and pickled ginger in the savory dishes. Really loved that subtle touch! The desserts were so well done as well, not too sweet (the ultimate asian compliment) and personally loved the black sesame roll and raspberry cake. We had a lovely server and just an all around beautiful experience, will certainly be coming back again!

The bar at the St. Regis is my favorite luxury experience in DC. The live piano, the tea, the crafted drinks that surpass your craziest whims - they have it all packed with VIP people watching and the most elegant staff. Drinks here are both strong and pricey... but if you feel like splurging and like imitating a millionaire for an hour, this is the place to do it.

The hotel lobby bar has traditional charm and you should definitely come check it out even if you're not staying at the hotel to enjoy its elegance. Drinks are very expensive, and nothing too special. It's a bar where creativity is defeated by traditions-- where you can just get your usual champagne, wine, martini, etc.

One thing about me is that I loves me a Hotel Bar! There is nothing better than going to an uber elegant place, grabbing a drink, and chit chatting with the bartender. On my recent trip to DC, I made sure to do just that at the St. Regis. Arrived after a wonderful dinner around 7:30pm and was greeted by Jane, the oh so popular bartender. She was totally great, explained the menu and a little history about the St. Regis. Everyone in this place was very buttoned up, so I made sure to put on my best interpretation of a sophisticated person while I was here. But again, I love a good reason to pretend. The interior was gorgeous as well. Definitely old school but cozy intimate vibes. Drinks were pricey but great! All made with love and care by Jane. Admittedly, I only remember the name of one drink (since I snagged a photo of it) The Love always wins. Another was an old fashioned-esque concoction. Both amazing and great to enjoy before heading back to my hotel for some much needed rest. And can't forget to mention (again) the bartender. Jane was awesome! It seemed like everyone in the place knew her well and thought of her fondly. She made great recommendations of the city and actually sent me in the correct direction for a great bowl of Ramen in DC (which i enjoyed the following evening) and I even found out that she is like a master mixologist who competes from time to time. Super awesome trivia piece for the evening. Loved my little night cap at the St. Regis! It was so nice to experience a gorgeous place during my time in DC.

Menu for tea

We had a lovely experience at the St. Regis for their holiday tea. It was incredibly difficult to book and when we got there, I saw why- tea is served in the hotel lobby and there was a very small number of tables. There was a pretty extensive menu of tea to choose from. We both chose the Christmas blend, which was a blend of red fruits and berries- not the most festive but it was very good and you could tell the tea was excellent quality. The sweets and savories were some of the most beautiful and intricate treats I've ever received at a tea. The tea had a Nutcracker theme this year, and every single part of the sweet tiers was beautifully designed to match- there was a nutcracker sugar cookie, a dark chocolate and peppermint mousse in the shape of a Christmas tree on top of a sable (which came with the cutest chocolate nutcracker!), a sugarplum donut, and an eggnog choux pastry in the shape of a Christmas pudding, as well as the scones. We didn't love the eggnog choux (the filling was pretty boozy), but the rest were excellent. Our favorite honestly may have been the scones- they came with the most incredible cherry jam and lemon curd, in addition to clotted cream. The savory course came first, rather than arriving with the sweets. We were surprised at how generous the portions were for the four items we received, and we really enjoyed each item. Our favorites were the smoked salmon tartine, which was topped with caviar and just excellent, and the delicious mini cheddar quiche. The turkey roulade was also very creative and fun. Each piece was beautifully constructed and presented. This was very close to a five-star experience and certainly felt very special, but it was really hard to justify the $120 per person price. We felt that both servers were strongly encouraging us to order champagne, and they did not come by very frequently after we declined to order champagne, while we saw the tables who did order champagne being served more frequently- that was pretty disappointing. By the end of tea, our pot of tea had gone cold and neither server ever offered to refresh it. Additionally, in past years, each person attending this tea has received a White House Christmas ornament to take home, and we were really disappointed to hear that was not the case this year- we were not told that we would not receive them and had to ask at the end of tea. However, we still had a wonderful experience and would gladly come back.

Afternoon tea for the holidays
Sarah H.

TLDR: pretty hotel with a great location, but skip the afternoon tea. I had a friends getaway before the holidays at the st Regis. There are two parts to this review: the hotel and the afternoon tea that's offered. The hotel was gorgeous, valet staff were particularly wonderful. The breakfast was good and the location is great. However, our room had almost no natural light. And the check in process was painfully inefficient. That said... The afternoon tea was our selling point for staying here. We were beyond excited - but it fell very flat. We booked via open table (reservations fill up fast, we booked about 6 weeks in advance and availability was still very limited). Tea is held in the lobby. It was nicely decorated for the holidays but we got stuck with a very awkward table outside the elevators - it was about 3 feet wide, we immediately moved our place settings so all three of us were on the same side and could easily talk. Server seemed annoyed, never checked on us. Quite quickly we found ourselves sipping cold tea and just accepting that's that. The whole experience felt so transactional. The food was ok (some shining stars like the cucumber sandwiches, albeit a few duds like the dry cupcakes) and the holiday tea blend was delicious. However, at $120 a person I would not recommend this experience. Sidenote: Perhaps I'm the riff raff they'd like to keep out, but a mid-range sparkling wine would have been appreciated on the menu. The cheapest non-rose bubbles was Moet Chardon at $180... had to laugh at myself as I drank it with a sugar cookie pairing.

What an experience! We were able to get to the hotel by 6pm for the sabrage ceremony! So fun! We also got some drinks and wrote letters to Santa!

Atmosphere gorgeous. Staff well trained and attentive. A very lovely hotel with a rich history. Stay 'till 6 pm and you will see a champagne bottle being open with a sword/saber. A tradition of the hotel dating back to, I believe, the original owner's wife to entertain her friends. Tonight, they actually had a guest do it. They gave her a practice bottle in the back, I just happened to see that, and she performed the ceremony in the main lobby. The tea included 4 savory items--a cheddar cheese mini quiche and rolled turkey with cornbread and cranberries tea sandwich--those I liked; a cucumber/asparagus/cheese and salmon with caviar tea sandwiches--I've had better. The sweets were adorable and rich (too rich for me, but not my friend). The scones are well made and served with the traditional lemon curd, raspberry jam, and slotted cream (was too hard, must have been refrigerated too long?). They serve the wonderful French Dammann tea. My friend had his warm and I opted for iced tea that was delicious. They serve Sweet-n-low that I like w/my iced tea and is getting harder to find at restaurants. Because we stayed 'till 6 we were able to enjoy the champagne. All in all a lovely experience that is costly, but a nice Christmas treat. There is valet parking at a reduced price of $29.50 if you go to tea.

Me and my wife visited The St. Regis DC for their afternoon tea on a Sunday noon. I would say reservation is recommended and the price tag for the Cherry Blossom afternoon tea is $119 per person. Just to set the right expectation. We were not expecting any mind-blowing desserts or cakes, but more so paying for the experience, the service, and of course, the beautiful photos. However, we felt like the overall experience wasn't quite impressive. Everyone is sitting right in the hotel lobby. Wasn't exactly the elegant and luxurious vibe we were expecting. While the hotel itself is elegant, classic and timeless charm, it was not the ambiance we want for afternoon tea. Service was okay. Our server was polite and checked in occasionally. However, My wife requested to sit in a different area at the start, and was told that section was closed. But like about 15 minutes later, another group was seated there. Not a big deal, but a bit confusing. Food, the cherry blossom tea was actually pretty good. I just really wish it was served much hotter vs it just being served only warm. The food/sandwiches/desserts was just average. Not bad, but don't feel like it is delicious either. Definitely not worth the $119 if you're evaluating just the food alone. Frankly speaking, if you break the cost down to 50% food and 50% experience (we took plenty of pretty pictures), it might not be that bad. But overall, it is definitely an experience once in a long, long while.

What a lovely afternoon tea at the St. Regis, D.C.! Each pastry was unique, delicious, and beautifully presented. The jasmine tea complemented the treats perfectly, and it was such a delightful experience trying everything. The staff was incredibly kind and attentive, and the hotel itself was stunning. A great place to have a girls day or to celebrate something special.

First time staying here in DC and it was a lovely stay. The staff here is phenomenal. We got an upgrade to a suite through the Marriott Nightly Upgrade Award. The hotel lobby is very nice and they have a great restaurant and bar. Like other reviews have mentioned, the nightly champagne saber at 6pm is cool to watch and you get a complimentary glass afterwards. The suite was very nice and the bed was comfortable. I loved they had premium toiletries, bathrobes, and slippers as well. Not sure if it's only on the weekend, but they had a singer playing the piano right outside the bar in the lobby. This St. Regis has a really nice complimentary breakfast for Marriott members who are Platinum and above, probably the best of the Marriott hotels we have stayed at. Looking forward to another opportunity to stay here again.

That jetted tub was supposed to earn its keep. The room: genuinely beautiful. The technology: aggressively dated. The vibe: a 90s time capsule, complete with missing doorknobs. There was effort here, but it felt like the hotel was holding its breath, afraid any real investment might trigger the next recession. What they got right: The bellhops were fantastic. Warm, personable, fun. Truly the highlight. Most staff we interacted with were polite and willing to help, which made the gaps elsewhere even more confusing. What they got wrong (beyond the dated room and tech): For a hotel that loudly advertises luxury service, the customer experience fell flat. Outside of the arrival bowl of fruit, nothing felt elevated. Night two, we ordered pizza and planned a cozy Home Alone movie night. The technology made streaming impossible. Fine, cable it is. We called the concierge and asked for two plates. Just two. The answer was a flat no. We were told to walk down to the lobby restaurant and see if they might have plates "to spare." I'm sorry, what? The next morning, room service arrived... with someone else's order. It was corrected, but for a luxury hotel, that kind of miss is surprising. Housekeeping came through, but only halfway. The coffee and minibar were never restocked. In a suite. At a luxury hotel. This is table stakes. At 9:30 PM we stopped by the lobby circle bar. It was immediately clear the bartenders did not want to be there. I get it, service work is hard. Still, opening our interaction by warning us about last call at 11 set a strange tone. By 10:00, one bartender disappeared for 45 minutes. No refills. No check-in. No bill. Breaks are important. Coverage is also important, especially when you're selling a premium experience. Beyond the bellhops, much of the staff felt irritated to be present. Front desk to concierge, the energy was less "historic luxury hotel" and more "counting down the minutes." The hotel was also clearly prioritizing weekend tea and brunch revenue, to the point that the historic lobby was clogged with extra tables and largely unusable for actual hotel guests. Bottom line: this was not a luxury experience, and I would not recommend it. I'm only posting this publicly because I reached out directly to hotel management and never received a response. At that point, a review feels necessary.

We found the valet staff particularly helpful especially when navigating awkward arrivals and parking needs of our personal guests. Sean was a prince. I thought that was a lot so we used points, and the 1st night they had not held our King Room for us, and despite being our anniversary, we had to sleep in a double room and move the next day.
