Stayed in Lock #10 for two nights in mid-October. Wonderful stay. Bottom line, I definitely recommend the Georgetown House and would (Will) stay again. Comparing the value, quality, and location across other Georgetown properties - this place is a hand's down winner! Few points: 1. Comfortable bed, clean room. Locks 10 and 11 seem like they would be the best choice, other locks have common doors just outside your door, so you hear everyone coming / going and getting coffee, etc. 2. Nice little two-person outdoor patio set outside lock #10, very nice for sharing a night cap. 3. Others have commented about the absence of staff, I do agree this is off putting but everything seemed to work with a little 'figuring out'. 4. For example, checking in at the ATM like machine, which takes a $100 deposit - and provides a numerical key code to your room. It was unclear to me that code ALSO opens the front door just to the right of the ATM, and whether that door was the common entrance. 4a. Another reviewer also mentioned their deposit took longer than they expected to be refunded, I was surprised to see the deposit move to a charge vice dropping from 'pending charges', took the full 5 days to credit after I called - expect a delay, the refund is not instant. 5. On the coffee machine, it defaults to a 6oz pour. Override that and select 10oz - that fills the cup entirely and doesn't waste the Keurig grounds in the capsule. 6. Location could not be better, don't miss dinner at Clyde's or a dessert to go from Filomena's (Turtle and Strawberry cheesecakes are spectacular, all made in house). 7. Common area kitchen has a full size refrigerator with 11 labeled bins, each for a lock - nice to be able to chill a bottle of wine or other items as needed. 5 Star Greatness!! Hubby booked accommodations here for our 20 year Anni. Cutesy street view, self check in (all digital), clean premises and entryway, unique quarters. We were assigned to Room #5. 112sq ft of intimate space, cleanliness and entertainment. Nicely new/ updated rooms, pretty décor, toiletries provided, in room remote thermostat, clothing storage, natural light and room lights, cable tv, etc. I loved everything about this room. It is smack in the middle of Georgetown. You can literally walk everywhere your heart desires. Located in a clean and safe neighborhood, late night food and entertainment gems, etc. There are moderately priced garages everywhere. Street metered parking if you're lucky, and a few free parking spaces 1 street over. Hubby and I are already making plans to return! This place is a must stay... Trust me !! read more

Stayed in the town house from 1/14-1/17. Very spacious and modern with a large back patio. Beds are very comfortable and the town house is immaculate. Plenty of extra towels, blankets etc. Top notch appliances and beautiful decor. Location is prime in the heart of Georgetown. Only a 10-12 minute uber to museums, zoo etc. We stayed in Lock 11 in November which was great, but the town house is superb and now we have been spoiled. Alexis was wonderful! What a wonderful surprise this place was in a weekend filled with great experiences. Granted, the self check in was a little wonky because the scanner didn't read my drivers license and I had to enter the information manually, but no big deal. We were able to get in the room 30 minutes early and though it was small, it was very well appointed: complementary water bottles, an umbrella, a hair diffuser, a few books, coffee and tea in the downstairs area, storage lockers for luggage and a comfy bed! Add in a scenic location by the canal and an incredibly affordable price and you have a repeat customer. Extra points too because I had accidentally left behind a dress and sweater and they called me to ask how to handle it. read more

"Yes!"Goldilocks said, "This spot was just right!" I have to admit that I was a little worried about staying by myself in Georgetown, but I had nothing to worry about. I took the train from the airport and a taxi from Union Station. I finally figured out how to manage the check-in kiosk and made my way into my room. I loved the fact that there was a code to get into the main House, and a code to get into my room. I was in Lock 4, the first room as you come in the main door. Window that looks out over the sidewalk was quickly dealt with by lowering the shade! Fairly tight in space, but I wasn't there but to sleep and shower. I can see where it might require some planning on the part of a couple staying there. Bed was delightful, soft, and lots of pillows. There was a full dresser under the tv that would be more than ample to store whatever you brought. The bathroom was very nice, and my only complaint is that I could barely reach the hand-held shower (short-person struggles!) Shampoo/conditioner/body wash available in the shower. I loved the small close-up mirror in addition to the two other mirrors. This room was wonderful, and a great "off the beaten track" kind of treasure. It truly was so comfortable that I could almost imagine that I was at home. A sign in the room states that housekeeping will only clean rooms every 3 days, but there is a note on your door where you can request towels, etc. Downstairs there is a kitchenette area that has a fridge, microwave, sink, coffee-maker, and a computer if you need it. Overall the House is clean and well-maintained. It really is in the perfect location in terms of meals and things to see. P.S. The two Italian places next door put out pizza slices to tempt you during the late afternoon/early evening... snackies! read more

Thank you, The Georgetown House, for your incredible hospitality. It's obvious from the details that a woman is centrally involved in the operation: the hairdryer diffuser, the placement and design of hooks for towels, soft towels, accordion magnifying mirror, soft and ample pillows, and so much that is only possible through the brilliant articulation of women's sign systems. I was upgraded to a better room without asking, and when I needed a little extra time to check out during a snowstorm they were fully accommodating. The House is located in a great area of Georgetown, overlooking the canal, and it is only a 5 minute walk to the Swedish Embassy. Also, there is a rapid COVID testing center (pcr and antigen) only a few blocks away if you need quick results for international travel, or otherwise. What a cute little sanctuary, and refreshingly affordable. read more

My boyfriend and I visited Georgetown a few months ago and on a sweet walk along the canals admired this adorable house with balconys over looking the water. This past weekend he surprised me with a trip to Georgetown and he had booked the suite in that adorable house for us to stay- The Georgetown Hotel Boutique Inn. It was everything we hoped it would be. Very clean and quaint. A great little community kitchen area, with Coffee, and iron, fridge space and work space. Beautiful views of the canal and perfect walking distance to both the harbor and the shops on M streets. Loved having our coffee in the morning on the balcony or a glass of wine in the evening. We had an excellent nights sleep on the most comfortable bed ever. It was a great place to comeback and celebrate our engagement! Yup! He proposed down along the harbor! Very new and clean hotel! The room was tiny, but it was clean with refreshing furnishing, and it had everything needed, TV, desk, shower, hair dryer etc. There wasn't a fridge or microwave in the room, but in the basement common area, there's a fridge, microwave, toaster oven, complimentary tea and coffee, plates and cups. There are lots of shopping and restaurants outside the hotel. 1.6 miles to the White House. We walked to the monuments and enjoyed it. It's a sweet place that I definitely recommend. read more

I was in Georgetown over the weekend and spent two nights at The Georgetown House. I would absolutely stay there anytime I am in the DC area. It's in a perfect location and my room was absolutely immaculate. I have to agree with a prior review that mentioned the hairdryer diffuser! This is the FIRST and ONLY place I've stayed that was thoughtful enough to provide a diffuser and I have traveled at least 4 times a year for 10 years now. Nice magnifying mirror also provided. Rooms are not big but I've stayed in very similarly sized rooms in other cities like San Francisco and New York. The Georgetown House is a great value. I highly recommend staying there. read more

(This is probably closer to 3.5 stars to me. Why three stars instead of 4? I -really- dislike spiders and I had two of them in my room, stalking me throughout the night. I admit that's not the hotel's fault, but it remains in my head and affects my memory of my time here.) I enjoyed this quaint hotel, with its quirky, somewhat invisible management. The other reviews are right about the size -- the room I had at least was _very_ small; I think it might've been too small for two people to move around in comfortably. It was a nice, clean room though, and in an excellent location for wandering Georgetown. My room had a door to the outside (on the C&O Canal path), but it was quiet as most of Georgetown is off the main streets. The automated check-in / check-out is unorthodox but worked smoothly. It felt a little strange to me not to engage a person in the process (other than the e-mails giving instructions), but there were no issues at all. I'd stay here again. read more

What a cute little place! This place is so perfectly located as it's within walking distance from the national mall (little less than 2 miles) and right smack in the middle of Georgetown. Just a lovely spot. The room was pretty small, but it was very minimalistic (which I like). The room was also clean... and the price was great compared to all the other hotels in the area. There's a parking garage right across the street from this place, which is $13 for a couple hours and then $30 for the day. If you would want to keep your car overnight here, they open back up at 11am... just keep that in mind. There are only 2 parking spots in the front of the inn that's a bit difficult to snag. We got lucky as I walked past the 2 spots late on a Saturday night and saw one spot open. The spots are free on Sundays! Score! Anyway, back to the little inn, there's also complimentary tea and coffee you can make downstairs using a keurig. Now, the reason why I gave this place a 3 star... the water pressure was barely there. I must be spoiled, but the water pressure was so light that it took me an extra 3-4 minutes to wash all the conditioner out of my hair. They do have soap and shampoo that is in a dispenser on the wall. I didn't use it, but my boyfriend did and they weren't bad at all. The bed also had a weird dip in it. I didn't experience anything terrible on my side of the bed, but once I rolled over to my boyfriend's side, it was a whole other world. It wasn't level at all and because of that dip, my boyfriend's back was feeling extra sensitive the next morning. Plenty of pillows, but we both wished there was an extra blanket in the room. Lastly, the stairs in the room was a bit awkward; both my boyfriend and I almost ate dirt because we got up in the morning basically half awake, forgetting there was a random set of steps leading to the bathroom. Definitely woke me up! Overall, if we decided to come back to Washington again, we would definitely consider coming back here, but would want to spend a little extra dough on a bigger room. read more

This place is GREAT! Found a great deal on Expedia and booked this quaint inn for a weekend getaway in DC and it did not disappoint! I needed an affordable room that was centrally located and this was perfect. Upon making the reservation, I was emailed door pass codes for both the entrance and my room so when I arrived late at 10pm I was able to enter my individual pass codes into their locks and get in without a hitch and no need to check in with reception. That was a pleasant experience and made it feel more like an air bnb experience which was nice. The next morning, I was able to walk to restaurants and go shopping on M street. I was a quick 10 minute UBER ride to the museums and White House for some sight seeing. I would highly recommend this place if you are looking for something clean and modern, in the middle of Georgetown with a no frills type atmosphere. They served coffee in the morning but I just walked to Starbucks for a drink instead and had a quick bite at Paul's the French bakery that is steps away. I loved my stay and would stay again. Rooms were cozy, on the smaller size but very clean and bright and had what looked like new furniture and bedding. read more

This place is a surprising little gem in the heart of Georgetown! Very easy to get into with the self-serve kiosk. Once in, we were very pleased with our room - spotless, comfortable and well-organized, it opened onto a porch overlooking the canal. Not a lot of space or furniture for hanging around, but as a jumping-off spot for exploring Georgetown, it was perfect. We will be back! read more

Found this place on Yelp. JACY was my contact person throughout. Very knowledgeable, patient, helpful and polite. Forgot the entry passcode for my room at 11:00 PM. She answered phone promptly and gave me the info I needed without any sign of irritation. The room was very nice, clean, reasonably priced, secure access, good neighborhood, within walking distance of GWU, metro, etc. I will remember this place and go back when occasion arises. first i want to say that i have emailed and called the hotel but no response in over 48 hours! i booked this room for 2 nights through priceline. i checked in using the outdoor kiosk. after moving into my room, 20 minutes later i get a knock from an employee saying i needed to pay. what?! so how did check in and my card not work? makes no sense! also they lied on their website about the TV, there isnt one!! read more

Just a block off of M street where there are multiple bus stops. On the canal where there was a trail for walking which is needed after eating at the yummy restaurants nearby. The hotel was an absolutely wonderful place to stay while visiting DC. The front door and rooms are all keyless entry so there was no concern about losing a key. Even though it is located on a relatively busy street, it was quiet - in fact my room was on the street level directly facing 31st street and I was no disturbed by any noise whatsoever. The room and common areas were impeccably clean, there are small storage boxes in the fridge for each room in case you want to keep something cold and complimentary coffee and tea available 24 hours a day. I met the owners/managers briefly and they were welcoming and asked how my room was and if i needed anything. I was impressed overall and enjoyed my stay which spanned 4 days. I will definitely stay at the Georgetown House the next time I visit DC. read more

First off I want to say- this was the best and most comfortable nights stay that my girlfriend and I had on our 12-day trip to Delray Beach, FL/Savannah, GA/Myrtle Beach, SC and Georgetown... Around 4 pm on our way to Washington I booked the reservation through expedia while driving our rental jeep wrangler. When we pulled up we lucked out with a spot right in front of this place and decided to grab a bite to eat first at the Italian place next door (unbelievably good food too). After dinner it was 1030 and assuming it worked like any other hotel or air bnb we knocked. The key pads did throw us off and I called and after 20 min in the cold trying to figure out how to get in I finally came to the realization (with help from manager) that I made rez for the wrong date (duh).. he was so nice and from his own home made a new code/reservation plus a little discount- and just like that problem solved. He even helped with expedia to get my refund from the first reservation... the sheets and bathrooms and the entire room and vibe of the place were clean and accommodating. Being in the service and restaurant industry we really know when to truly appreciate when things are done the RIGHT way. We are planning a trip back (to this same room hopefully) at some point this winter. Thank you Georgetown House for one of the best night stays I've had of my travels. read more

I fell in love with this place! It is brand new, super clean, and at an amazing location just off of M Street. I love the the high ceiling, two-story room, the soft carpet and the simple, elegant furniture of just what you need. The bed's cozy location upstairs, away from the window and road, is ideal for a peaceful and undisturbed night's sleep. The desk table with chair and lamp by the window are ideal for working with a view of the canal. The common kitchen area for the guests, that includes free coffee and tea, a refrigerator, microwave, toaster, mugs, plates and silverware are ideal for enjoying a morning coffee, afternoon tea or snack inside the house, away from the hustle and bustle of the restaurants and coffee shops that surround you here in Georgetown.
