From the moment I arrived, the atmosphere felt warm, stylish, and relaxing without trying too hard. The hotel has this calm energy that makes you immediately slow down and settle in. The design is beautiful, the rooms were comfortable, and the overall experience felt thoughtful from start to finish. I spent some time at the bar and really enjoyed the ambiance. It felt intimate and welcoming, perfect for unwinding after a long week. Dinner was also delicious and matched the overall vibe of the hotel perfectly. What stood out most to me was the hospitality. Everyone I encountered was kind, professional, and attentive, which made the stay feel even more special. Kevin was so attentive at the bar. He knows his stuff and manages his team well. Sometimes the smallest interactions are what make a place memorable, and that was definitely the case here. I left feeling rested, recharged, and grateful for the experience. The hotel is located in Dupont Circle in a quiet maintained neighborhood in the heart of the foreign embassies district. The lobby is small and quaint and the restaurant is located after you pass the bar. We were seated asap on a Saturday morning, and the decor was casual yet sophisticated. I opted for the chicken sausage breakfast and the potato stacks were yummy along with the added banana muffin. Our friendly waiter was efficient and the turnaround on our food was prompt. This place is only slightly better than a Motel 6. Description of rooms totally fabricated. Queen beds are actually double beds. Rooms are tiny and smell moldy. Lots of street noise. Hotel is in a residential area. Bathrooms have no locks on door and have a clear glass pane. Why? Shower is ghastly. If you have every stayed in a real 4 star then you will be miserable. This is a 2.5 star at best. This place is ideal for anyone who has never travelled or just their dorm room. Did I mention the mold smell in the room? False room descriptions? Please stay away. This was our first time staying at Lyle. It is off of Dupont Circle, which is convenient. When we arrived, the ladies at the reception desk were very nice and made us feel welcomed. We were given a room on the top floor when given the option. It would be nice to have a chair or two in front of reception, but I realize there is not a lot of room. Everything was clean. Our room was spacious. There were not drawers to put our clothes in, so we lived out of our suitcase, which is ok. The linens were clean, and the beds were comfortable. My biggest complaint was that the small interior AC unit on the wall was insufficient for the room. We tried to put it on full blast, but we sweated all night long. It became stifling. There is not much fan noise either, so we could hear each other breathing. We kept waking up and were exhausted when we left. The bathroom was clean, and I liked the vanity table and chair that was provided. The shower was modern. There is no door to close when showering, so I was cold. We all joked how we kept trying to close the door that was not there. My husband complained that the light from the glass bathroom door that led the to sleeping area was so bright it woke him up. My husband loved the thin rough towels. He says they are much more absorbent. I would have loved to have had a softer option, especially for drying my face. They were uncomfortable for me, but I realize that is also personal preference. We ordered food from the restaurant downstairs. The gentleman at the host stand was very nice and the food was ready quickly. The valet, Jonas, was so so nice. He was one of the most polite valets I have ever met. He is a keeper. Overall, the hotel has historical charm, with marble and wood decor. The staff were all friendly and accommodating. The room was spacious and clean. My biggest disappointment was the lack of sufficient AC and air circulation. Getting a good night's sleep is my #1 priority when selecting a hotel, especially a higher end hotel. We had just had our son, who is active military, in the hospital the day before, so we were in desperate need of a good night's sleep. read more

We got a room in the back which wasn't the greatest- Other times we've stayed we stayed in the main corridor this time we were down by the lockers and the housekeeping areas with dirty glasses and things right next to our door and all the housekeeping equipment. Amazing stay, great food, only caveat is that they charge $35 as a "hotel fee" per day that is NOT upfront and only at check out. Apparently it covers the amenities, WiFi, and bottles of mineral water and a tote. Honestly this is the only negative part of being here because I do not need mineral water or a tote, amenities and WiFi should be included. Overall a nice stay in a convenient part of the city. Stayed a couple nights as a part of a corporate group for an event. Check in was mostly smooth and check out was a breeze. For the room, it was clean and secure. Some people had issues with room size but for a solo stay, I thought it was a great size. My issue was the lack of surface space in the bathroom for toiletries, makeup, etc but hey, it was workable. Elevators are tiny but I never had to wait, even when sharing with several people had luggage. The valet parking was efficient and friendly when checking in and out. This is the city so you may have to make a u-turn (safely) or go around the block in order to get in front of the hotel. But as I mentioned, valet was on it so you don't have to be waiting too long. I didn't have food there so I can't speak to the restaurant/bar but the lobby looked nice. Good stay in the city if you set expectations and would recommend! read more

Better than I expected from previous pictures and reviews. I must apologize, at check-in I marked that this location was not ADA accessible and it ABSOLuTELY is! Now that is out of the way...the rooms are not that big, but perfectly sized for 1 person. Bed was comfortable and shower was hot with great amenities. The restaurant is the primary focus of this location as most patrons were not even staying in the hotel. That says alot and the food and service are top notch. I tried the Chopped Salad, Calamari, Fried Chicken, Pork Belly and the complimentary bread and Butter. I will always have the Pork Belly here with the Umami Rice which is so damn delicious. read more

Wonderful little hotel! Stayed two nights for work and I enjoyed everything about it. The decor was excellent, the bed was incredibly comfortable, the bathroom was clean and well designed and the toiletries were delightful. I had room service one night, mushroom spaghetti and cheddar biscuits, and they were good. Nothing terribly exciting but it was spaghetti after all. I ordered breakfast from the restaurant to go in the morning and the waffles were incredible as was the overnight oats. The restaurant was busy but they were still able to prepare my food quickly. If I had one complaint it would be to have more USB outlets in the room, especially USB-C, but I travel with several so it wasn't a big deal. Overall excellent stay at a wonderful hotel. read more

This is a nice hotel in the Georgetown area. It is conveniently close to restaurants and some shopping just one block behind the hotel. The room was very clean and somewhat comfortable. The fridge in the hotel is full of high priced libation that you can purchase. No room for the guest to put much in it. There is 1 large drawer and one nightstand drawer in the room. The large drawer is full of even more items you can purchase. You can use the nightstand drawer if you need one. There are no ice buckets or ice machines in rooms or on the floors. You need to order a bucket of ice through the front desk. I had the feeling that the comfort of the customer was truly not the first priority of the hotel. On the other hand the staff bends over backwards to assist the patrons. Praise for that. The door to our bathroom was located directly next to the bed. It was a totally transparent glass door. It did have a Roman shade that could be lowered. When in a strange room, we usually leave a light on in the bathroom so that we can find it easily in the middle of the night. When there is a GLASS door, even the shade on the door does not block that bathroom light from filling the bedroom. This doesn't promote a good, restful sleep. While we liked the hotel, it could use some changes intended more for the comfort of the client. read more

The hotel was so clean & it was an easy check-in. The bed was extremely comfortable & I am very picky about beds because of a neck injury. The room is small but was very clean. They don't have an iron but have a steamer which is better. I loved the lotions by the sink. Very accessible. I was not able to hear anyone else in the hotel. The only bad thing would be the curtains. The curtains are not black-out like you see in Las Vegas. It's still dark but if you are a light sleeper like I am, be sure to bring an eye mask. We stayed here just before Christmas 2025. Room was clean, service was great. Hotel restaurant/bar was very nice with good seasonal cocktails and whisky selection, pleasant atmosphere. Favorite part was getting a Lyle the Crocodile plush and children's book! They even brought a bed tent for reading, but as we didn't have kids with us, we didn't need it. I love this hotel! I stayed here for my annual staycation in the City. Every year I stay somewhere and this year I chose Lyle. I love that it's located in a spot where you can walk to different stores and other restaurants, but the restaurant in the hotel is so good you really don't have to leave to eat elsewhere. The price is reasonable for a hotel in the city, IMO. I love the lobby decor and the front desk was so nice. The room was perfect! I loved my view of the neighborhood. The room was super clean. The Lyle Hotel is a wonderful boutique hotel just off DuPont Circle. This is the 3rd time I've stayed there and it's just a great place to hang out. There is a wonderful bar - shout out yo Kevin and Diego, 2 of the best bartenders around - and a great restaurant. I stayed here while attending an internal business conference, and this is a nice little hotel in a good part of Washington DC. The rooms are large and clean and the elevators don't have long wait times like some other hotels. They also have a nice restaurant that serves pretty good quality food. The check-in process was quick and easy and the staff here is generally very friendly. My only peeve is about the higher than usual valet cost. In any case, I highly recommend them. read more

Everyone at the front desk was so kind and thoughtful. They made it clear that they were there to help with anything we needed. The room was clean and beautifully decorated. Stocked minibar, luxury bath products, and extremely comfy bed. We were able to check in early and check out late. While checking in, my boyfriend mentioned that we were there for our 5th anniversary and an hour or two later, the front desk brought up a bottle of sparkling wine. We really appreciated it!! The Lyle bar was a romantic spot to get some late night drinks, specifically some seasonal cocktails that were delicious. We will definitely be returning in the future. This hotel was absolutely fabulous! I found this place when searching for the closest hotel to my brother's apartment. We lucked out because it is chic, has amazing staff, & the rooms were cozy. It also has a restaurant and bar that are just as gorgeous as the rooms and is really romantic. Check-in was a breeze with their friendly staff. I love that they require masks inside everything was spotless. Our room had everything we needed including a closet, a chaise, a minibar, desk and standing shower. The bed was medium-soft but we slept great. The AC worked wonderfully and our room had several windows to let in natural light. It had 4 lamps so at night the room isn't brightly lit but enough. The only quirky things were that the mini bar had an opened Pellegrino that wasn't changed out and the restroom door has a window with a window treatment that doesn't fully cover the window. I don't think that makes any sense but we ended up hanging towels to cover the gaps. We never used room service or housekeeping (we reuse our towels because it is more environmentally friendly). We also never got to use the gym, open 24/7, because we did so much walking in DC. The neighborhood is wonderful and mostly residential with some embassy's sprinkled around. There is a small but busy dog park around the corner (they allowed my dog nephew to come up to the room for a bit). There are also several great restaurants close by along with a 24/7 Safeway. Bathroom shower has a half glass wall so you are drafty and you get the floor wet. Charming lobby? Yea. Lively restaurant? Yes! But not an easy place to actually stay. read more

It included any amenity I needed including plenty of places for charging, a big comfy bed, large bathroom, fridge, coffee maker, big tv, soft lighting, and nice smelling shampoo products. The front desk staff is friendly and helpful, as well as the door man. The elevator requires your key for use which is appreciated for safety. I just had a short stay but would definitely come back. Best of all, it is a short walk to many restaurants, a grocery store, liquor store, cute shops, and everything around Dupont Circle. read more

We stayed here for our anniversary and were very impressed! Staff was friendly, room was very clean and decorated well. They sent up a bottle of champagne for our anniversary, which was an awesome touch! They have an espresso machine (instead of coffee), fluffy comfy bed with lots of pillows, ambient lighting, tv with plenty of channels and for being in the city, I felt like it wasn't too loud. Johnny literally is my favorite person , I wish all hotels had a Johnny. His smile was so bright we literally felt it as soon as we walked in the lobby. I felt like I was in a episode of Suite Life of Zack & Cody (millennials this one is for you) ! The hotel honestly exceeded my expectations. I was in DC for one night only and it was the most beautiful one night stand , I mean stay ! The room was super clean and felt like home. I brought my dog with me and she was in heaven. Perfect, effortless stay at Lyle!! Beautifully and artistically decorated and styled, Lyle has a look that will be pleasing to all sorts of palates. The front desk staff was so polite and efficient in checking me in. I called way ahead of time for a super early check-in, and fortunately they were able to accommodate me; however, they were still honest about it not being guaranteed, but would try their best to work around my request. The room (deluxe king corner room on the top floor) was clean, spacious, and offered plenty of natural light. The bedding was one of the most comfortable and plush feeling sleeps I have ever experienced!!! Street parking is available, but get there early...and valet parking is offered for a fee. Overall, I look forward to another stay!! and will hopefully have the time to try out the amenities such as the gym and Lyle restaurant on site. This place is also a clutch, gorgeous boutique style hotel perfect for entertaining out of town guests because it gives the true Washington dc urban, suburban vibe by being in Dupont Circle, and still being so close to 14th street, U street corridor and easy straightforward access to downtown. read more

I'm surprised by all the glowing reviews--this place is just meh. Pros: Clean, good location, room service with good food, friendly staff. Cons: No full length mirrors, no bathroom storage or space for your toiletries, minimal clothes storage, one bathroom hook to hang all towels, no iron/ironing board. And weirdly I am 99.9% sure the shampoo and body wash containers in the shower are filled with the same soap? I think they focused on making the rooms cute but not terribly functional. It's fine, but I'll look for a different hotel next time I'm in DC. read more

The Lyle Bar - just wow. This place is my go-to spot in the City. It is one of the nicest, higher-end, but fairly affordable dining experiences in D.C. The plush, white couches and dark wood welcome you in a warm dining space. The menu is smaller but everything on it is fantastic. The burger is available on both the brunch and dinner menu, and the fried chicken is awesome. We were looking to stay in a "neighborhood" type of area for our visit to DC. The Lyle hit all the marks. There were many places to walk to shaded by trees and overall safe feel. The rooms are well appointed the workout facility was perfect, and we really enjoyed sitting in the lounge, enjoying a glass of wine in the evening. Would like to call out two employees in particular Kevin the bartender was extremely professional pleasant and had a wealth of suggestions for the area. Also Solomon who greeted us at the front door and took very good care of our belongings and was always cheerful and exuded true professionalism, and was a great representative for the establishment. read more

We love this place and stay here every time we come in, but after recommending it to friends who hated it, I thought I'd clarify why we love it and why others might hate it. We love it for its convenience to DuPont, for its walking distance to multiple shops and restaurants and just funky areas, for its walking distance to the metro, for its quirky non-identical rooms, for the vibe in the bar, for the convenience of having an actual restaurant and made-to-order breakfast, for the cozy feel of a small hotel, for the friendly helpful staff, for the great kitchenettes with Nespresso machines, actual wine glasses and china and silverware, for the minibar amenities, for the convenience of the unusual valet parking setup. We've found the food in the restaurant here a MAJOR step above typical hotel fare, especially the breakfasts. We've had dinner here a couple of times and it's been very good. However, it's priced similar to what you'll pay at an upscale DC restaurant, and it isn't quite as good. You're paying in part for convenience when you eat here. So if you're looking for what you'd find in an upscale DC restaurant, don't eat in a hotel, even an upscale hotel. Eat in a restaurant. The building has its own parking lot for valeting, right behind it, which is nice because if you don't actually need your car but forgot your sunglasses in it, you can actually go retrieve them yourself, so bring the extra set of keys along. Because the valet lot is immediately behind the smallish building, the valet retrieval is often lightning fast, I usually don't even call ahead unless I'm on a schedule. This is an older boutique-style hotel. The rooms vary in size and shape, and some feel a bit cramped for space once the little table and whatever seating is in it. And the seating varies, there might be a small couch or single armchair. I've never not had a small table to work at, but if you have a preference you might ask for a room with a couch/an armchair/ottoman if you have a preference. And the room rate isn't always an indicator of which rooms are larger. The bathrooms, very oddly, all have a large curtained window in the door. The curtain does lower completely, but I've seen some reviews saying it doesn't, so some people might be mistaking it for being fixed at half-open, and in some rooms, yep, the toilet would be in view if you didn't lower the curtain. I do not know why they don't just frost the damn windows, it can't be that expensive. Definitely a bizarre design choice. We just close them when we get here. (Honestly housekeeping should just leave them all closed as the default setting. No one wants to look through a window into a hotel room while sitting on the toilet.) The hotel is in a busy part of the city, mixed residential with restaurants nearby, and the hotel's doors open ten feet from the sidewalk. There is street noise. There is bar noise. I've stayed here twice when there was maintenance noise in the afternoons. I doubt there are any "quiet" rooms. It's 8:45 am and I can hear outside my 3rd floor window what sounds like a leaf blower being used below. Oh, and now they're emptying the dumpsters. If you are looking for guaranteed quiet, this is not the place for you. This is IN THE CITY. The building is across the alley or across the narrow street from it neighbors, apartment buildings of similar size, townhouses that have been cut up into apartments, etc. The views vary, but most are are of the walls of other buildings and over service or parking areas. If that's not what you're looking for, you may want to look elsewhere. Again: IN THE CITY. read more

We are local but came here on a staycation with our dog, who also loved the hotel! This hotel is perfectly located in DuPont near all the embassies, so it's very peaceful. You're only a quick walk to 14th Street and a ton of restaurants and sightseeing on the National Mall! The restaurant downstairs is phenomenal and we will definitely be back to stay and try their weekend brunch! read more
