We visited DC for the first time and I kept telling my hubby how we picked the perfect hotel. It's walking distance from the Capitol and so close to the Union Station, which happened to be Stop 1 for the Big Bus tour. We were there for only 5 days. We visited so many monuments yet there were so many places we didn't get to see. We will definitely be back and stay at this hotel another time. The Dubliner restaurant next door is an added plus!

We stayed for one night with my daughter. We arrived at 12 pm and were able to check in right away. The hotel is from the mid-20th century, and has wonderful little details (check the tube to post letters from every floor!), a nice change from some of the sterile chain hotels. The room was lovely, well decorated, sunny. The shower was excellent. There is a well stacked and very clean fitness room downstairs that was pleasant to use. The Irish restaurant downstairs is convenient, including a hearty full breakfast, and the location of the hotel great, 5 minutes from Union Station, and from the Washington Mall. The only downside is that the immediate neighborhood is not super lively (no other restaurants around) but a 15 minute walk and you can find plenty of dining options. A great find!

My daughter and I did a quick overnight trip to Washington DC for a taste of the National Mall. I was able to find this hotel just within a 5 minutes walk from the Washington Union Station. It's also walking distance to The Capitol. We arrived on a Thursday morning around 10:30 am from NYC via Amtrak Acela. I was checking to see if they would hold my overnight luggage so we could get started on exploring DC. To my surprise, they told me my room was ready if I would like to check in right away and I've been upgraded to a suite. The staff warned me that there's a spiral staircase to the loft where the bed is, if I would be OK with it. I was like, "Sure!" When we walked into the suite, my daughter and I were like, "Wow". My daughter really liked the layout of the suite. Even though it was only for one night, my daughter and I enjoyed the accommodation and the hospitality of the staff. The only thing I wish I had stayed longer to venture out of the National Mall. However, I won't mind coming back and stay here again since it's so close to everything.

Stayed here for a work event and really liked that: (1) They have 24/7 coffee, tea and hot chocolate in a small lounge area on the 2nd floor. (2) Super convenient location. (3) They let me check in early and really tried to work with me so I wouldn't have to work out in the lobby for hours before I could check in. Slight cons: (1) The first room I was assigned didn't have a desk, and since I'm a workaholic, I really needed a desk so I had to go back down to the front desk to specifically request a room with a desk. I thought all hotel rooms came with a desk?? (2) The first room I want to was quite small, where the bed space was so close to the small coffee table and two armchairs that I don't know if anyone could have comfortably used the table and chairs. Five stars for the room I ended up getting, not sure if I would've given it five starts for the initial room I was assigned, unless it was slightly discounted (which it could have been). Would recommend this hotel overall!

Hotel was very well situated. Check in was a breeze and the staffl was amicable. Second floor has complimentary coffe and tea 24/7. The room was presentable and clean. Nothing out of this world but woulld suffice your needs. Room had a good AC a refrigerator ironing-board and Iron plus an umbrella. A very few drawers but really not necessary unless staying more than 2 days. A TV with good selection. Most importantly a very good safe. There is an adjacent connecting room but dont worry you wont hear your neighbor. All major historical attractions are near by so walking is a must. If you rent a car parking is $62 a day, but worth the price. Keep in mind that renting car would be to get it at the airport rather than the city. Chinatown is also near so walking should be good in your agenda. I do recommend the hotel as it would fit for a couple or your first time in DC.

I found this place on Expedia because my son and I took a random trip to DC. The staff was so friendly. They let me check in my bags early, so my son and I could site see (we took the train there and didn't have a car). It's literally walking distance from union Station. It's a prime location for restaurants and National mall. You're blocks away from the mall. The room was clean and had great views. The shower was amazing and has two shower heads. There's free coffee, water and tea 24/7. And the coffee was delicious (there was specialty coffees). Such a great place and we'll be staying here next visit.

A nice stay! Rooms are compact & European in size. That said, hotel has been well kept and is in nice condition with modern renovations. It feels old world and classy. Staff is charming and dedicated. They are taking the highest COvid-19 precautions at this time. I was so surprised to see the Irish touches here. The on-site restaurant is a Dubliner pub. I am very Irish, have spent time in Ireland, just recently lost my mother who was so proud of our heritage, and so I felt a connection to that. :D

Only stayed a night but it was great. Friendly and helpful staff, clean room and bathroom, plenty of body and face towels (and miscellaneous needs like lotion/shampoo/soap/makeup wipes). Incredibly comfortable bed. Close to Union Station and the Capitol/Mall, in a great area close to restaurants and cafes though the hotel is also connected to The Dubliner Irish Pub and Restaurant which is nice.

Phoenix Park Hotel displying a price that they would not honor. Tried to charge me over $700 for 2 days.
    Clint W.

How did we get a $700 charge for 2 night. Mgr responded to this with more lies. Even the steepest incidental charge doesnt creep the rate up to $700 for 2 days. This criminal like spin is another reason to avoid this sh!thole.

This 98 year hotel is a cozy spot in the heart of downtown Washington DC. A short walk from the capital, this spot is full of charm, with updated rooms. The bed was comfy, with so many pillows my daughter got swallowed up! The best part is the 24hr coffee and hot chocolate maker on the second floor- shhh it's a secret! Upon arrival we were greeted with a smile and grace, along with VIP extras (free alcoholic drinks and chocolate) from booking with Expedia. The only part I didn't like was lack of free parking. The valet parking of the hotel was $65/night and the garage a block away was $36/night.

The key-card elevators are sleek, high-tech, and super secure. The restaurant and bar had great energy, and the food hit, but $24 for a drink is unhinged. Overall, a stylish, safe, and seriously fun stay. More details from my review on Google: Rooms: The rooms were exceptionally clean, comfortable, and well maintained. The turndown service was a lovely touch, and everything in the room was perfect throughout my stay. Safety: The hotel elevators felt extremely secure and high-tech. Guests must use a key card to access certain levels and floors, which added an extra layer of safety and peace of mind. Walkability: The hotel is conveniently located within walking distance of plenty of things to do, as well as the locations I needed to access for work. The location made my stay easy and convenient. Food & drinks: The hotel restaurant and bar had a nice atmosphere, and the food was good, but everything felt extremely overpriced. Charging $24 for one drink is absurd. I enjoyed the experience overall, but the prices make it difficult to recommend. Noteworthy details: From the moment I arrived, I was treated like a regular. We found the valet staff particularly helpful especially when navigating awkward arrivals and parking needs of our personal guests. Sean was a prince. He supervised an otherwise complicated set of logistics with competence and gentlemanly grace. Another shout out to the manager ( sou?) of the breakfast dining. We watched him rigorously oversee staff and guests while occasionally stepping in when helpful. His leadership is likely responsible for the professionalism of said staff. This is in direct contrast to the staff of the Willard across the street where we took the first breakfast of our stay. We were dismayed to have to endure extremely loud staff socializing, boisterous laughter and downright flirting. This type of behavior would have been unacceptable at the JWMarriott. This experience alone confirms our future choice of Marriott over Willard for annual DC visits.

The drinks were also excellent. Sweet, but not overly sweet. But what really stood out was the staff. I do not say this lightly. The service was outstanding. Furthermore, for a five-star hotel, lacking a proper hot tub and standalone shower is unacceptable. The towels provided are cheap, rough, and feel entirely out of place at this price point. The bathroom ventilation is so old and loud, that I can't even believe it's there. No fridge in the room, only a mini bar that will charge you if you move around mini bar items to place your own drinks. The view of the White House was severely misadvertised. To actually see it, you are required to pay an extra $700 on top of an already steep $600-per-night room rate. The acoustic insulation is non-existent. If anyone is staying in the room above you, forget about sleeping--every single footstep and movement carries straight through. The front desk staff was entirely dismissive. After promising to switch our room to resolve our issues, they dragged us through three separate attempts, wasted hours of our time with non-responsive answers, and then finally demanded we pay even more money to fix their mistake. After we went through, not even a complimentary breakfast or really anything. Shocked that this place is more expensive than Four Seasons, St. Regents, and the kind. This is barely a three star hotel (except location of course). Stay away.

Residence Inn by Marriott Washington, DC Downtown - This corner is set up for "elite members" next to the front desk. Pretty underwhelming.

There is a CVS store that is located in the same building so that's convenient if you're traveling light and need to pick up some toiletries. Room was simple and had all the basics. Full kitchen with all the essentials -- full fridge, microwave, stove, plates, bowls, eating utensils, etc. so ideal for guests who have an extended stay. Had a corner suite (room 411) so it was a bit more spacious but the view was unusual -- my view was directly of a conference room for a company next door. Hilarious to open up the curtains to see 15 people convening in the conference room. Front desk staff were nice. Bought a couple of Voss waters from their mini mart next to the front desk @ $12 plus tax each.

She was very short in her reply to my question about what the closest metro was. She was too busy looking at the computer (or whatever that was in front of her). No other customers were around. I then asked about a wake up call and she "huffed" in frustration. I asked for her name and she pointed to her tag. I am truly upset at how i was treated overall. I will not waste my time again with Marriott, especially with how much it costs at this location!
