The mezze trio was amazing, especially the hummus, and their pita was soft and flavorful. My group had the steak, the lamb chop, and the ricotta gnocchi, all of which were delicious. As good as it ever was... We haven't been to Parizade since before the pandemic, and I'm now sorry we didn't go back sooner. We arrived on a Saturday early evening and the dining room was almost full, but we didn't have to wait for our reserved table. The atmosphere is as good as always: understated elegance. The menu offers a nice variety: old favorites like sausage rigatoni and their famous Bronzino, and innovative dishes like the one I tried: quinoa, edamame, mushrooms and other veggies. There is a decent selection of plant-based apps and entrees, so bring your veggie friends along. The wine selection is good, and my cocktail was made to perfection. All our dishes were very tasty, and we didn't leave any to take home. We'll be back sooner next time. It's obvious that Parizade is experiencing the same staffing shortages as every other restaurant in the US. Our server was obviously new, but seemed well trained and very friendly. The kitchen messed up our orders and we were left waiting far too long for our food. The Manager apologized, comped us an app, and spent the rest of the evening personally making sure we were happy. This is what good management looks like: everybody makes mistakes because we're human, but his solicitous recovery left us with a good impression and intentions to return soon. read more

Absolutely a wonderful place to enjoy a great meal with excellent service in a lovely decorated restaurant. They offer both indoor and outdoor seating. The courtyard has space heaters and live music on Friday; which is the night we went. Parizade is a staple of Durham and is a must stop. My wife and I enjoy going for a night out or going with friends. The crowd is mixed with young and old. My wife had the seafood paella and I had the gnocchi with smoked bacon and a bolognese sauce. Both of these were the specials. They serve a house made bread that was warm with a fantastic olive oil. We followed up the meal with their rum banana dessert that was amazing. read more

The elegant, romantic restaurant we've been looking for! We're natives of San Francisco (60 yrs) who moved to Durham six months ago. We've been very disappointed by the lack of "fine dining" restaurants -- everything seems to be ultra-casual or at least "casual" -- hard to find a place that has tablecloths, flowers on table, warm, soft lighting, lovely decor and ambiance -- and in general, no one seems to train wait-staff here. Last week a number of restaurants in "the Triangle" offered discounts (S.F. does the same during the slow months of January with their "Dine Around Town" program). I'd heard good things about Parizade (the owner owns a number of restaurants in the area -- I'd been to 2 of them and liked them). I went with 2 of my women friends. IT IS BEAUTIFUL! It's a very LARGE restaurant with a nice bar and bar area with tables. It also has outside seating on a brick patio in front of the restaurant. The ambiance is warm and elegant and relaxing. The service was excellent -- as was the food. I came home and told my husband "I've found the restaurant we've been looking for!" Recommendations we have had for other "elegant" restaurants (Palio, Angus Barn) were dreadful -- well over $200 per person and appallingly bad service, atmosphere (haybales & gingham & Mason jars at that price?! At Palio, the bill for 2 was over $300 -- and we brought out own wine -- in a room that looked like a 1980s coffee shop, no linens, no flowers, and a 19-yr old server with so little experience, she didn't even know which side of the plate the fork should be placed at.) This is the perfect place for an dinner with business associates, a romantic date or anniversary or birthday -- or anytime, of course. But it feels special, thank goodness. I'm tired of spending o$200 for 2 and feeling like I ate in a diner where NO attention was given to decor, lighting, service, etc. NOTE: ALLOW EXTRA TIME FOR PARKING& you may have to walk. Parizade is loated on the floor level of a LARGE, multi-building, multi-use complex. Condos, offices -- with restaurants on the walk-in level. You are likely to have to search/wait for parking (which is free and no valet, which would be a fine idea, actually!) I have now been there 2x and both times finding an empty parking spot was difficult and I had to walk a bit -- just mention this because parking is usually such a breeze the "Triangle" area. read more

Located in an unassuming office park off 9th St, Parizade is a fun mix of color, texture and the most beautiful wallpaper. The food was delicious--this is a high end menu that delivers. We started with some wine and cocktail recommendations by the waiter, who was great and helpful with suggestions. Our food journey started with delicious bread, a halloumi starter and burrata starter. Wow-both were so different (halloumi was warm, burrata was chilled) and complimentary. Dinner itself was squid ink paella and the special bacon wrapped filet with mushrooms. Is there a way to have some heart eye emojis in these reviews? The paella was something I've never had before and the squid ink was such a cool take on a classic dish. The filet was cooked perfectly-can you make anything better than adding bacon? Dessert was the Franciscan Monk Cake, which was flavorful, sweet (not cloying) and light. A beautiful way to end the meal. Wow we are so happy to have gotten to experience Parizade during Triangle Restaurant Week! I had never been to Parizade and thought that my final Triangle Restaurant Week would be the perfect reason. I started with the Blueberries for Sail drink and it was delicious and refreshing. We each decided to go for the 3 course meals included in restaurant week and added an additional appetizer of fritters. I absolutely loved the hummus and all of the pitas it came with to dip. I also tried the falafel that my husband got and that was also great. Lots of great options on the menu for entree I went with the shrimp pasta and my husband got the salmon. Nice portions and delicious fresh and simple food. This is a great environment for a nice meal with people you care about. Like some other reviewers, I came here for a team dinner, and it wasn't too packed on a Tuesday night. I'll just say that the service was really great. The waiter gave us helpful recommendations and was quick to take our order, bring our apps and entrees, give us extra bread, etc. For appetizers, we really enjoyed the burrata, baked halloumi, and brussel sprouts. The halloumi dish was heavy on the tomatoes, so we each only got a small piece if any. For entrees, we got the bronzino, kale salad, gnocchi, Bouillabaisse, and salmon. The salmon was on the smaller side, so if you're sharing everything with a big group, this might not be the best choice. The Bouillabaisse (scallops and shrimp in tomato-based? sauce) was a team favorite. For wine, we had the Loveblock (white), which was slightly sweet. read more

People often forget about Parizade since it's been around for so long, even before the newer trendier restaurants in Durham. We stopped by for lunch during Triangle Restaurant Week and even during a weekday, it was pretty lively. The decor is colorful and bright, and our three-course special menu items were all delicious. Came here for lunch with my family during Triangle Restaurant Week. The interior was very nice with art everywhere and plenty of seating. We all ordered different things from the restaurant week menu. But overall our consensus on the food was that it was either way too salty or very bland. They offered two of their salads as well as their soup. The soup would have been great if it had a tablespoon of less salt in it. I ordered the chicken kebab but also tried the lemon linguini and the shrimp risotto. The best out of the three was the shrimp risotto. The kebab completely lacked any flavor and was dry and they just sprinkled on some arugula and a couple of pieces of pita and called it a day. Could have been executed much better. Overall, if you're looking to try Mediterranean food I would recommend a different place. read more

On July 14, 2023, I ordered a kale salad with grilled shrimp. I could not believe what the salad looked like. I was so disappointed that I called the restaurant and spoke to the manager who told me it was some kind of special kale. He also said they have received other complaints because it does not look like kale, there is a lot of stem and the portions are very small. I paid $20.43 for five shrimp and about ten strands of whatever that grass is below. This was the first time I had been to Parizade since the pandemic- they are no longer open for lunch. Before the pandemic, I would get the salad with shrimp two to four times a month and nothing that ever looked like this. read more

I've been eating here with my family for years. It's away from the downtown restaurants, which is nice and allows for a more relaxed dining experience. The food is exceptional, but a tad pricy (35 for a ribeye). The gem of the restaurant is their wine menu (yes menu!). This place really deserves a 3.5 stars but I am being generous and rounded up to 4 stars. The interior of the restaurant is uninspiring but it's acceptable. It conveys more of a tropical vibe more than a Mediterranean vibe. The tables are placed and set in a way that is great for small groups but some what challenging for dates or bigger groups. The space between seats is simply too big and too few sofas/lovers seat are available to diners. The waiters we had were friendly but inattentive. There are multiple occasions where they took away some of our tableware and forgot to replace it before the next dish (most notably spoons). Looking for the waiters that servers my area was a challenge; though there weren't many tables within a dining zone and each waiter is only assigned to approximately 3-4 tables, the area is just a little too spacious for them to spot our needs right away. The entree I had was spot on even though I don't really like olives and scent they come with. Both the salmon and the vegetable side were prepared perfectly. It could have been even better if they have more spices to their sauce. My friends' seafood spaghetti was a minor disappointment. It was well-seasoned and the shrimps and scallops are well prepared, however, the clams weren't very fresh and it's especially obvious with the Mediterranean style of cooking. The manager for the area and the waiters we had did eventually asked us how we liked our meal, and we had told them about the clams. They were apoplectic and the desert was on the house. Speaking of which, we ordered the banana rum napoleon and it was a pleasant surprise! It was crisp and well balanced. I wasn't able to taste any bitterness from the liquor and the degree of sweetness is just absolutely refreshing after having oily Mediterranean food. We went here for the summer tasting menu billed as a living social. ( I felt somewhat perturbed to learn that my "excellent deal" was actually the standard price for the summer tasting menu, and it was just a lure to get me in ). The ambiance looked like a more red, less tacky version of the cheesecake factory, with a nice greenspace outdoors and none of the Cheesecake factory wait. The good: attentive service with excellent dinner recommendations. Well-crafted entreés and expertly designed desserts. The summer tasting menu, triangle restaurant week menu, and theater menu are all great values. The bad: Appetizers were average, cocktails were terrible, and regular menu prices were offensive. Décor was fun but also somewhat tacky. We found the appetizers and salads to be average and somewhat lackluster. My kefta appetizer had incredible flavor, but I was offended at the golf ball size of it. The cocktails were terrible when compared to literally anything you can find elsewhere in Durham. The "Pearizade" tasted far too syrupy. Especially at $12 a cocktail, this was insulting. I have to talk about the risotto and hanger steak. These dishes were PERFECT! That is probably why both are on the triangle restaurant week menu. The risotto was chock full of shrimp and scallops, delicately flavored with tomato and basil, and just the right amount of filling. The hanger steak was perfectly cooked, a HUGE portion, and the arugula salad was a light and delicate accompaniment with excellent flavors. But really, the dessert is where this place really shines. I had at least 6 different textures in my sinful chocolate torte, and the banana rum napoleon really surprised me for the dept of flavors and talent of the pastry chef. Again, this probably explains why these two desserts anchor all of their deal menus. I'll probably come back for the Triangle Restaurant week menu to get more risotto and dessert, but otherwise won't be trekking out to this place. I bet it's nice to stop in for a quick theater dinner if you live nearby. Just get your cocktails at local 22 instead and stick to the wine here. read more

There is a lot to take in visually in this fun yet sophisticated restaurant. The interior design is wonderful, with a varied array of lighting and structures to break up the large area. Our table felt private and we could converse easily. A few minor miscues aside, service was good. The menu is varied, reasonably priced given the quality and portions and there are a few good wines under $50/bottle. This is not a tapas restaurant, so enjoy a starter and then focus on the entrees, which are the stars. Met a couple of friends here last night. We had reservations for 7 pm and we were seated promptly. We order three appetizers which we all shared. The trip of dips, the fish fritters and shrimp. All of them were delicious. The shrimp dish was a bit small but it tasted really good. The fish fritters were my favorite. I had the cavatelli which was good, maybe a bit over cooked but still delicious. My hubby had the lamb and he loved it. Everyone else at our table really enjoyed their meals as well. We all ordered dessert, cream brûlée, chocolate cake and the banana rum wafer. All desserts were amazing. The atmosphere is really quite fancy and the service was impeccable. My boyfriend took me here for dinner tonight to celebrate my birthday and everything was superb, nothing we could even think to complain about, everything was so wonderful. The bread at the table with oil to start was a great snack until our trio drip arrived. I ordered the ricotta gnocchi (that had delicious short rib) and my boyfriend ordered seafood plaki. The flavors of both dishes were excellent and the portions were perfect. I can't say enough wonderful things about our server Chaz T. We witnessed him taking great care of his other tables, but he also took such great care of us. He went above and beyond to make our dinner perfect and rememberable. It was very busy but the waiter came to our table several times to check in. We had a dinner for a reunion here. Albeit the prices are not what I would have thought the food was worth. the place is very nicely lit, music not to loud. plenty of seating. and the outdoor seating area looked very inviting and comfortable. A member of our party entertained the restaurant with a Opera song. She is from Denmark and is the person (along with her husband) that we were there to meet. the menu is VERY small in my opinion. Not a whole lot of choices for my taste. and it is sort of a cross between Italian and Mediterranean. I had the special that evening of the lamb. It was nice- very tender but the description of the Moroccan spice led me to believe it would be bursting with flavors. there was this strange hint of lemon on the bottom part of it. I did enjoy the mashed potatoes very well and I did not care for the spinach (personal preference). I tasted the broth from the seafood stew- it reminded me of a shrimp creole a lot! I tasted the sauce from the angel hair pasta with shrimp and it was a nice fresh marinara of tomato and garlic and not heavy at all. Our table partook in the dessert sampler which was a HIT at our table as well as impressive to several patrons around us who come over to take pictures. The manger was very entertaining in his excitement over the professional opera singer at our table- we also loved the song as well as the other patrons taking pictures of her and video. Lots came over to appreciate and thank her. WE LOVE HER TOO! The manager says they often have celebrities in there and others who sing or dance- which to me was sort of a neat thing- other than our member doing it that night I have never experienced that in a restaurant! BUT keep a look out you might spot a video of Anna Vaupel singing there that night on the Internet very soon! It was amazing! my only negative on a place like this (besides the high costs! ) would be the presentation of the food. I personally prefer my food choices NOT stacked on top of each other. If I wanted all my entree in a bowl altogether I would order a soup or a pasta. the desserts were amazing for the bits that I tried, I have no idea what all was on the tray except the creme brulee and some ice cream (i was trying to be good!) 5 of us went for a business lunch. The atmosphere was very nice but maybe our server was having an off day? We weren't being slow (we had to get to another meeting) but she was very impatient with us and we felt like she didn't want to be serving us. As for the food, we all did the fixed price lunch menu with dessert. Everyone was very happy with their choice. I picked all the vegetarian options (I'm not a vegetarian - they just looked good) and they all tasted fine. Dessert was the best part, of course! Celebrated a great friends birthday here last night. Parizade is tucked away behind Harris Teeter in an unsuspecting corner of the shopping center, right next to Local 22. I'm shocked that for 2.5 years I never knew this place existed. And when I mentioned it to friends, they've all dined here before. Where was I?? The ambience is quite romantic, with soft lights, whimsical colors and an atmosphere that is wam and inviting. It's a perfect place for date night or any milestone worth celebrating. We wanted to try everything and I am borderline greedy, so we ordered three entrees for two people. We ordered the steak special with crabcake, scallop risotto, chicken stuffed spinach, and a side of broccolini. I will say, some of it was a bit salty but overall, the meal was delicious.
