Always a beautiful time at Lula and Sadie's! Service is top notch and the drinks are delicious! Love having some New Orleans food in Durham

Easy to find. Lucky for us the 2 parking spots up front were open otherwise I'm not too sure where the parking is. It wasn't busy and we were greeted quickly. There were so many options to choose from. It's best to come with others so you can sample! The salad was very tasty and filling. My BLT was in fresh toasted bread with just enough bacon. This was my first visit and definitely not my last! Can't wait to try so many other things!

Great southern spot in Durham! They had a band playing on Sunday when we went for brunch but ended at 1 pm. Food was delicious, got the chicken and red velvet waffles. Mac n cheese was comforting and delicious. Bloody Mary was pretty good. Plenty of space for parking in the lot next door. And our server was very attentive!

I was here for a party so it wasn't the normal experience but from what I did experience I will be back. I had fried deviled eggs with crab meat and they were so good.. The staff were amazing in checking in to make sure everything was ok and I sat at the bar which was comfy. I will definitely be back..

10/10 highly recommend - just go! Lol Hubby brought me here for my birthday and they did not disappoint. I've literally dreamed about those lollipop lamb chops. I'd go back just for those. My hubby enjoyed the catfish. Now they know that they were wrong for that $8 mini sweet potato pie but it was good though, lol. They at least could've made it a real slice. The bar area is cute but the garage door does open so be mindful on cooler days.

Classic Margarita & Smoke 'Em If You Got 'Em

Had the pleasure of enjoying brunch at this gem of a restaurant, and it did not disappoint! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with genuine smiles. The hostess was incredibly kind. She asked if it was our first time, walked us through the menu, and highlighted the specials with such enthusiasm that it made us even more excited to try the food. While waiting for our drinks, I soaked in the ambiance... and wow. A complete vibe. The playlist, the décor, the lighting, everything felt sultry, smooth, and relaxing. Perfect for a slow, easy brunch. For drinks, we ordered: 1. "Classic Margarita" which was perfectly balanced and refreshing. 2. "Smoke 'Em If You Got 'Em." The smoked rosemary on the second drink was such a standout touch. Aromatic, strong, and beautifully crafted. For food, we went with the loaded grits: 1. Loaded grits with grilled shrimp 2. Loaded grits with fried boneless chicken Both dishes were amazing, hearty, flavorful, and the kind of comfort food you crave again later. I'd say best grits in town. If I had to note one downside, it is that our drinks took longer than expected and arrived at the same time as our meals instead of beforehand. But everything else was spot on, and the experience overall was wonderful. We will be back!

Wow, just wow. The atmosphere was very relaxing and quiet. Great service and waiters were very friendly, responsive, and accurate. They constantly kept our water filled, knew what we needed without having to flag them down. Their cocktails, foods we ordered, were top notch! We thoroughly enjoyed our time here. Highly recommended!

We had a fantastic double date at Lula and Sadie's and were able to be seated quickly without a reservation. The server was friendly and very knowledgeable about the menu and made great recommendations. The flavor profiles were the exact right combination of comfort food would just enough spice to keep it interesting. Great drink selection. Tasteful decor, classy but not fussy, comfortable seating with outdoor option on the rooftop. This is a hidden gem that supports Durham's reputation as a foodie town! Will definitely come back.

Our server Imani was amazing, she made our experience very enjoyable! The restaurant interior was very nice and open with a bar, the food was excellent. We had brisket fries as an appetizer they were 10/10, my meal I had catfish, black eyed peas and white cheddar Mac n cheese and it was delicious. The catfish was huge. I also had a smoked apple margarita cocktail, very good. Definitely will comeback when we're in Durham.

Ribs, fries, mac & cheese, & cornbread
    Ashleigh F.

The parking lot is very small so parking in the lot may be an issue if the restaurant is busy. There are several tables and bar seating inside. There was great music playing during my visit. The bartender Brandon was nice. I got the rib dinner that was served with two sides and cornbread. I choice the rosemary fries and Mac & cheese. The Rosemary fries were hot and tasted good. The Mac & cheese was different than what am I am used to but it wasn't bad. The ribs were tender and were good. I didn't really care for cornbread. I prefer for cornbread that is sweeter. I was not told that was an up charge for certain sides (fries & Mac, etc) so I was surprised that my bill was more than I expected it to be. There is also a 20% living wage fee added to checks as well. I did read that prior to ordering. When it was time to pay for my food I was just given a handheld card reader with a total to pay my bill that did not show an itemized list of what I was being charged. When I asked for a printout I was given one.

    Natasha R.

Overall, I really think this is a gem of a restaurant in Durham! I got the fried green tomato sandwich which I thought was really well made, and very crispy, and we really enjoyed the Mardi Gras theme cheesecake! Would definitely go back to taste more things!

There is plenty of parking on the backside of the building, paid parking out front, and be careful not to park in the apartment spaces on the side...they sounded pretty serious about towing. I had made a reservation but it was probably unnecessary as it was pretty empty when we arrived (it was about 5pm on a Saturday.) The waitress brought a bottle of water to the table and took our drink order. And I know that this place is literally call it's a Southern thing but can I mention how much I dislike drinking out of mason jars? I ordered the chicken n biscuits, my husband got the country hamburger steak plate, my BiL got wings, and my SiL got the crabcakes. We also orders charred jalapeno & sweet corn hushpuppies and frickles as an appetizer. I was VERY excited about my food. Y'all...the only thing that impressed me were the Frickles. Everything else was distinctly underwhelming. I also ordered Blackberry Betta Have My Money which was not that great. My SiL ordered a espresso martini that they said didn't come from a mix but she said it tasted like it was. The bathrooms were very clean. The decor and the vibe were great. Cute even. I really enjoyed that part of it. After dropping off our food, we never saw our waitress again unless we flagged her down for drink refills. It was especially frustrating since there was automatic gratuity added. And since the place wasn't that busy, it felt like she didn't feel the need to earn her automatic tip. Overall I was disappointed in my birthday dinner. I won't be coming back here.

I washed everything down with a Bull Durham beer and it was flavorful and a perfect pour. Parents got the smoked chicken and shrimp and grits. See the attached photos.

We made a reservation and were seated upon arrival. Our host was Anthony, I think his name was, with a keen interest for ginkgo trees. He was very attentive, friendly and extremely helpful. He took her order and had some good suggestions. I was craving shrimp and grits which was probably the most unique shrimp and grits. I've had ever. Very distinct flavor and still very rich and familiar. The shrimp were large and juicy as well as remained crunchy overall cooked very well. We also had the summer tomato and burata salad which was really refreshing and delicious. My friend ordered the mac and cheese which is a hefty serving size. Definitely a shareable side or a main for one person. Our host came to check on us frequently, our Waters never went empty. Other hosts were also helping check in on us which was nice. The restaurant itself is large. Booth tables available, which made for a cozy environment. We ended the night with some brownie a la mode, which was the perfect dessert to have on a hot summer day. The menu had recently changed so we got to try quite a few new items. We tried the panzanella- sweet corn, red beans, heirloom tomato, patty pan squash, pea tendrills, and a roasted red pepper vinaigrette. This dish was my favorite of the night- small but shareable, entire dish was refreshing and all the flavors and textures went together so well. For dinner I ordered the roasted chicken and the baked mac and cheese with bacon. The roasted chicken was juicy and tasty, and a bit sweet with the bourbon ginger and plum reduction, but the mac and cheese seemed dry and overcooked. We also ordered the buttermilk cheddar biscuits- that taste slightly undercooked (in a good way), so the texture was soft and chewy (and amazing). The honey butter and large maldon salt granules made the biscuits perfect. They were so good we ordered a second order!! I would definitely return to Plum, for both the food and hospitality.

My date ordered the Blackstone Benedict -a sort of ham, poached eggs, and hollandaise, with breakfast potatoes and gluten-free bread. She was genuinely thrilled with it, which is saying something as she is a hollondaise stickler. By the time we were leaving, a line had started to build, so if you're planning a weekend brunch here, I'd recommend getting there on the earlier side. Parking is easy (big lot), and there's a grocery store right next door, which is surprisingly convenient. Overall, just a really easy, enjoyable brunch spot with good food, great service, and a relaxed vibe. We'll be back.
