Went to this dealership last weekend to test drive a car I was intersted in. A sales associate grabbed me and took me to his desk as soon as I stepped in. He asked me: "Are you buying a car today?" Me: "I want to test drive the car before buying" Him: "So you are not buying today?" Then he gave me a key. Took me to the car, and told me to drive around and park it where it was before. Off he goes back to dealership. I sensed that he did not want to spend any time because I probably wouldn't buu the car that day. Okay... I drove around and brought it back. I came into the dealership to return the key. The sales associate was reclining on his chair, reading magazine. I asked if I could get a brochure for the car. "Oh, we just ran out of it" I tried to ask about different trims. Instead of answering, he extended his hand and said "was good to see you. Good bye!" The worst experience ever. By the way, he did not even ask to look at my driver license... He would rather grab another person ready to buy on the day than 'wasting' his time with me. 1. Had 8:00 am appointment (1st in line) for just oil change, but finished only at 9:30 am. This could be speedier. 2. While my car was valeted to the pound, they left the engine on idling for about 10 minutes, and was taken out for a spin by a mechanic for about 12 minutes, which were all recorded on dashboard cam. Idling for more than 3 min is a totally unnecessary waste of gas at customer's expense as well as bad for the environment. If taking out the vehicle was necessary, they should have informed the customer for approval, or should have done that with customer present. 3. Got a call from them the next day asking if I wanted to get a small body job done and offer to give estimate. I told the man that I don't need it now, but just would like the estimate, and then he just disregarded my request with "Thank you for choosing Hyundai of Paramus. Have a good day" and hung up. Which simply is a way of saying "I can bother you anytime with a call, and just ignore your interest if it doesn't mean money to me". I should have asked his name. read more

Horrible service! My mother went in for a OIL change for her lease (only 5,000 miles) they took advantage of her and told her she needed the full maintenance as if it was a must. Every oil change no matter where you go includes TPL meaning they set the tire pressure to the correct level and all the same. My mother left with her tire pressure at all DIFFERENT levels. She also had a recall on her vehicle, which they never mentioned on the phone and when she asked if they could do both the oil change &a recall at the same time a person named JAMES said oh it's so late complaining to my mother, a paying customer. Mean while it was only 3:30pm and the service department closes at 6pm! Very unprofessional! Finally my mother asked if James could ask someone else if they could do it, they agreed. So at this point she should be leaving with her car in perfect condition. After an hour her check engine light was on & blinking non stop. Driving on the high way her car completely lost power and turned off and back on. She was lucky enough to manage to pull over to the side, luckily she escaped a car accident. How does someone go in for an oil change with their car in good condition and this happens? I call the next morning to complain and was told to speak to Heather, however a women by the name of Vivian refused to let me speak to Heather. Not only was Vivian extremely unhelpful, rude, and unprofessional she even called me back to provide me with an excuse as to why it occurred, which I have the voicemail of. My mother goes back around 10am after confirming with Vivian that the last shuttle ride was at 11:30a they tell my mother there is no ride for her. She then asks for a loaner, no loaner. At this point this entire experience is just absolutely ridiculous. How does your company state on the website that customers are a priority and "you are moving the world together if that's the complete OPPOSITE! Do NOT get a vehicle from this location, because they will give you the run around! They tell their customer they did a recall and then only to be told oh we actually have to order parts. This location should be held liable for putting their customers lives at risk! It was even stated in the receipt that they completely the recall, how unorganized! read more

I would give 5 negative stars if that option was available. This dealership has MAJOR customer service problem. My experience with this dealership when I bought off my leased car was absolutely HORRIBLE. (Had I read the reviews here, I would have gone to another Hyundai dealership.) 1) the salesperson was rather sleazy. Came up with random numbers for a price, charged me more than $1400 in fees in the process of buying out my leased vehicle. When I requested a more itemized explanation about how he came up with the price, he gave me the run around without really explaining anything. I never got my explanation about how he came up to the number that he did. 2) Getting my new license plate was a BIG hassle. Took the dealership full 30 days to change my temporary license plate. The dealership took it for granted that I would operate under its schedule. Never mind that I may not live around Paramus, have a job, other things planned, etc. I work at a transportation company where getting a new title/license is part of the business. I KNOW the NJ DMV does not take the full 30 days for a new license/title. 3) The receptionist put me on hold without informing me that she would put me on hold. She cut me off in the middle of my sentence. Another receptionist did that also on the phone. Must be their ways of dealing with clients. 4) When I talked to the sales manager about problem #2, I was yelled at & told that the dealership has done all it was required to do. Basically, since I already paid my $$, the dealership no longer cared about whether it was inconveniencing me. The only pleasant person I spoke with who did her job was Melanie(Melissa?), the customer service manager. Out of 7 different employees I dealt with at this place, I had 1 pleasant service rep. WOW. Do not go to this place if you want a hassle-free process in buying any type of vehicle. This experience made me re-think about buying another Hyundai. I read such bad reviews on this dealership but had a good feel when I tried to purchase a Palisades Calligraphy. Here is my story: 1st of all, i went to them a few months back.. was told nothing in stock and he hinted that i should try elsewhere. I did and found one a hour away. I was told that Hyundai will honor each other and do service for all Hyundai vehicles. BS.... Paramus pretty much told me to go elsewhere b/c i didnt buy from them. Its not like I wanted a free oil change, it was a safety recall. Shows me how much they are concerned about people's safety. DO NOT BUY FROM HERE. I posted my reviews everywhere to show how $$$ is more important to them than safety. No wonder,...I was skeptical at first now I am letting everyone know not to buy from here. Nick, in service, is a great. I bought my Hyundai Santa Fe at Wayne Hyundai and recently took it in as my radio/screen stopped working. Wayne Hyundai wouldn't honor the extended warranty I purchased from them and wanted to charge me $4500 for a new radio on a car barely 3 years old. Frustratingly, i left and looked for other options. That's when I met Nick at Paramus Hyundai. Granted the radio replacement wasn't cut and dry and nick had to deal with an already frustrated customer (me) walking through the door. Nick handled the situation with care, clear communication and helpful guidance. Hyundai of Paramus accepted the warranty and instead of $4500, I got a new radio for the $100 deductible. Bought a certified used car and the salesman assured me they would replace the bald front tires being this is my first car bought through a dealer I took him on his word. Bad idea.. now they tell me they would only replace the tires if the car failed inspection... They also told me they would touch up the bumper on the car. It was an awful experience with this dealership. Everything started out fine when I decided to lease Hyundai Elantra 2013. I took the car for a test drive, then went inside with the sales person Bruce where I negotiated regarding the price. Everything was going pretty smooth and I agreed regarding the price. Bruce gave me the contract to sign, then I wrote the check for down payment and they told me to wait a little until the car is ready. It turned out that the wait was much longer that I thought, which was still ok because leasing/buying a vehicle is not "in and out" thing. Finally another person comes to me and asks to follow him into a different room. There he gives me another contract with details that were never discussed before, such as 400$ disposition fee upon lease end, hiring an inspector at your own cost to inspect the vehicle before turning in, and no coverage regarding wear and tear, meaning every little bump, chip and scratch will be charged out of your pocket. Of course they offered an expensive add-on insurance option for wear&tear. I was not happy at all when I found out about it, wish they told me sooner before I gave them the check, and I cancelled the deal and left. It sounded like a complete rip-off! I ended up going to Hudson Honda where I got a better deal, free wear and tear coverage up to 1500$ and no disposition fee. read more

I've called 2 hours in advance to schedule a test drive with a particular car. Was assured that the car will be ready when I get there. When I got there, I was met by a smile-less receptionist and a salesman clueless about the appointment. A manager started sales pitch, but has lost interest as soon as I've said I am not buying today, but here for a test-drive only. After spending half an hour for little reason I was told that the car is not there and I need to wait more till they bring it here. I left. My 2018 Elantra GT would not start on Saturday, 4/4/2020, I called and had it towed that Monday on 4/6/2020. I was told they couldn't find anything wrong with the car but replaced the inhibitor switch which might have prevented the car from starting. As everyone is aware we are home and only going out for food shopping and to the pharmacy. Today 4/14/2020, after working from home I needed to go food shopping and my car would not start again. Just scheduled another service appointment for tomorrow and super frustrated that the car was not properly fixed the first time. I hope I can do a follow up post saying Hyundai service department finally found the issue causing the car not to start. I believe at this point it's a recall issue and I should be given a different vehicle because this is a lease. It's bad enough to be dealing with COVID-19 now not having transportation to do food shopping today and possibly tomorrow. read more

I brought my Santa Fe into the Paramus Hyundai because the back-up camera was not working. I was told I had to pay $150 for "diagnostics". I told him I didn't need the whole car looked at. Nothing else is wrong with the car. I was called a few hour later and told I need wiper blades, a cabin filter (just replaced w oil change), and a camera. The cost of the small camera was $650 but he would give me a discount and it would cost $550!!!! No thank you! I picked up my car and had to pay $165 (they taxed the 'diagnostic fee'!) to find out I need a new back-up camera??? And my mechanic got me the camera for $100. Leased a Genesis G80 for my elderly parents. Most expensive car on the floor, promised royal service to compete with other luxury brands like Lexus, BMW etc. The car was delivered missing Floor mats, SD card for Navigation and bracket for plates. After few weeks they finally mailed the SD card regular mail and arrived 2 weeks later, 5 weeks without navigation (UPS was too expensive for them). I kept asking about the plate bracket, they said it would be mailed together with the plates. A day before the temporary plate expired the plates arrived without the bracket. I called the dealer, they said; "Oh well, you have to come back to the service department to have it installed." I said, "The temp is expiring tonight, in NY you get a ticket instantly." They coldly said, "Nothing we can do, you have to come in." After a week back and forth conversations I called them to set an appointment to come in. I asked them to have the part ready to install, my father (who BTW is a cancer patient) will come in at 11am. They said, "Sure will have him out in 15 minutes." Guess what; he drove out there and they didn't have the bracket in stock. 5 weeks after delivery and knowing they have to install it, after forcing us to come all the way from Brooklyn NY. They just laughed in his face. I called the manager John, he had the guts to tell me "if your father is sick why didn't you come, why did you let your father drive all the way up here?" What??? Is this an excuse? What difference does it make who drives out there? How disrespectful and rude. The salesman who sold us the car, out of embarrassment quit his job right then and there (pity him). To date we are driving this car with an expired Temp plate risking a ticket any time. And the floor mats? They said "when you come in we will give you one, we are not spending $20 for UPS". That was the answer, for a luxury car supposedly competing with Lexus and BMW. Don't step foot in this place, as soon as you drive out, you are a laughing stock to them. We have had two separate leases with these jokers and each time they screwed us on closing costs telling us they would cover the damages on our previous lease as an incentive to take a new lease then not paying the damages and shafting us with a big bill that we later received in the mail from Hyundai. When I got there I spoke to a different salesman who gave me a much higher price and told me it's impossible I was told that quote on the phone (too bad I forgot about the text in the moment). I wasted over an hour and a half out of a workday for this garbage. I wish salespeople would learn that being transparent and honest always geta you the most business at the end of the day. Paramus NJ dealer initially did not acknowledge the extended warranty over the phone but asked me to print and bring in with recall visit. Brought my car, a 2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe, in because the blue tooth interface on the navigation system is frequently failing to initialize. In this state no blue tooth devices will pair with it. Also the air conditioner randomly comes on when the A/C indicator is off and automatic climate control is off. The representative I spoke to was dismissive and insisted that the problem was my phone despite the fact that the car's interface wasn't loading. When she decided to check my phone for compatibility, the Hyundai website was non-functional. When we called to have Hyundai's internal support check the availability, it turns out that all they have access to is the same website. Despite the fact that I had made an appointment in advance and was waiting it took over two hours for them to come back and tell me that the computer had logged no errors. I started my car, paired up my phone again only to have the bluetooth link fail and the interface lock up less than half a mile from the dealership. The car handles well and is fun to drive, but the electronics are wonky and this is on a vehicle with less than 5000 miles on it. I bought this car despite the fact that Hyundai has had a less than stellar reputation in the past. I suppose that the reputation they have is the one that they deserve. Update: Website works now and my phone is supposed to be tested and compatible. I've been working with Hyundai directly to get the problem resolved and they've been responsive and helpful. So, the problem isn't Hyundai, just this particular dealership. Update 2: Took my car to Wayne Hyundai. Night and day difference between the two. If you need service definitely go to Wayne.
