I had a really frustrating experience with the service department. I first called and left a message explaining my concerns and never got a call back. I called again another time and actually spoke to someone, explained everything, and was told a service manager would call me. That also never happened. I then made an appointment online and clearly noted that I wanted a call back before coming in because I needed to understand whether this would be covered under warranty. No one contacted me. When I finally showed up for the appointment, I was told it would be $270 just for them to look at the car. When I said I didn't want to move forward unless it was under warranty, the interaction immediately felt cold and unhelpful. The lady that was helping me ,Annie, called over another lady Vivian, and both were not helpful. I was told I could ask the parts department instead. When we went over there, they scoffed and basically just looked the part up online. This whole situation could have been avoided with one simple phone call. Very disappointing service experience. They offered services that I did not request, did not have proper equipment for testing, and kept adding services to perform further diagnostics. I brought my vehicle to the service center on September 8th to fix the rear driver-side door (which would not open) and the brake light. After handing my car to the service center, I spoke with an advisor. Immediately after I explained the symptoms, the advisor told me I needed an alignment service. (At that moment, my car had not even been placed on the lift.) He claimed that the need for alignment was "visible" just by looking at the car. I agreed to the service, and then he said there would be diagnostic fees ($500) for each of the issues (door and brake light). He explained that if the extended warranty covered the repairs, the fees would be waived and refunded. After I returned home, I received a message and a call regarding their tests. They told me there was a battery issue and that the engine oil was low due to an oil leak (even though I had an oil change at another shop about a month ago). The advisor then said that in order to do further testing on the door, they needed to replace the battery, which would cost $430. They also recommended an oil change for $185 and an engine flush for $379, bringing the total (including alignment) to $1,183. I thought the battery replacement cost was too high, so I asked if they had a test battery or other equipment to continue the diagnostics without replacing it. He told me they had no other option and could not perform further diagnostics if the battery was not replaced. He also claimed that the door might not open because there was not enough voltage being supplied. I then brought my car to the independent auto shop I usually go to and asked them to check the issues. The next day, they confirmed that the battery was fine, providing sufficient electricity, and that there were no oil leaks. When I went back to the service center and shared what the auto shop had found, they said the results might differ because they are a dealer service center and must follow their policies. At that point, I lost trust in the service center and asked for a refund since the diagnostics were not fully completed. They refused at first, but I eventually managed to get $250 refunded after pushing the issue. However, that refund transaction has still not been completed. I have been leasing a Hyundai Ioniq 6 since 2023. This morning, I dropped my work stuff in the car but realized I forgot something in the house, so I locked the car and went up to get it. When I came back, my car was totally dead. Doesn't open with the key fob or even start. I called in Hyundai roadside service, and the guy jumped my car and advised me to go to the dealership since it might not start again if I turn off my car. I called the dealership, and they told me they are busy all day, so it might not be fixed today. Ok, this is an emergency, and understandable they are booked up. When I got there, a lady started telling me I need to get a wheel alignment and a brake fluid check before my lease is up. Weird, but whatever, she even said, " I will give you a discount and even shushed me when I replied to her. She said $490 before tax and labor fee. As I was Ubering home to work, I checked whether all those were necessary for return, and it turns out they are not. I called them back as soon as I got home (a 15-20 min drive) to cancel the service for brake fluid and tire alignment. The same lady picked up and said we can't cancel because we are already working on it. When they told me they are booked up all day? I complained that I can get those 2 service for much cheaper, and she gave me a discount, bringing the price down to $390 before tax. When I insisted on canceling the service and informed her I didn't need to do those services for my return, the lady said, "I didn't know that, sorry kiddo." Also asked if they are working on the car right now, does that mean I can pick it up soon? She said no. Later, I got another call saying they had to charge me an additional $ 270 because I have a dash cam. They explained that the dash cam is the reason why my starter battery died... I have an external battery for my dash cam underneath the passenger seat for that. When I told the lady this information, she yelled out to the mechanic, and she said it still drained the battery. Even worse, she offers to cancel tire alignment? I thought they already did it or were working on it when I asked her, she said they had already done Break Fluid. So they lied to me when I asked them to cancel the services. I checked my dash cam's dash cam and the external battery to see what's been unplugged or uninstalled. Turns out, they just unplugged 2 cables from my front dash cam, which cost me $270. So my total is came out to $583.43 and I paid $600 due to using credit card. My daughter has a 2013 Tucson, the check engine light came on, and the car began sputtering and became difficult to drive. She checked it in overnight. The next morning Hyundai contacted her and said it would cost $540 to do the diagnostic paid in advance. The service coordinator was named Constantinos. I called and questioned as to the exorbitantly high diagnostic fee. He stated that was the fee for the 2hr diagnostic check and it was company policy to take the fee in advance. I have a high-end vehicle, and my diagnostic fee is around 200 dollars, and not in advance. I picked up the keys and went to Pep-Boys. The fee was 199 not in advance What was needed was a full-service tune-up. I am quite sure when they moved her vehicle from the lot to the garage at Hyundai, they had a pretty good idea as to what the problem was. This was a tactic to lock in a large amount of money to force a young women to repair the vehicle with them or lose over 500 hundred dollars. This is truly one of the worst scams i have come across. First of all, I want to point out that none of the promises made during the pre-sale process were fulfilled when I went to buy the vehicle. Before the sale, I was told that the car would be delivered with a full tank of gas, any minor existing scratches would be repaired, and winter mats would be provided as a gift. However, when I took delivery of the car, I was told to come back a week later for all these issues to be addressed. When I returned a week later, they rudely told me, "We cannot help you," and sent me away. Shortly after taking the vehicle (2025 Model Santa Fe Hybrid), the driver's seat adjustment mechanisms stopped working and began making noise. But the main issue is much more serious: if the car is driven for more than 30 minutes, a locking sound comes from the steering wheel, and it becomes extremely difficult to turn. I took the car to the service center and documented the issue with a video. They told me, "We will call you tomorrow," and requested the video showing the problem. I sent the video, and the next day they called to say they could not replicate the issue and asked me to bring the car back. When I went back, I asked, "You saw the video and heard the sound; why aren't you inspecting the steering wheel?" I then learned that the service center had only tested the car for 15 minutes, even though I had clearly stated that the problem occurs during drives longer than 30 minutes. The response I received was shocking: "We do not have the time or luxury to test your car for more than 15 minutes." In other words, even though a critical safety component like the steering wheel was defective, they refused to repair it due to "lack of time." After repeated insistence, the solution they proposed was even more surprising: I was asked to let the sales managers use my car to commute to work and home while assuming all potential liabilities. In the event of an accident, I would be held responsible for any damage to both my vehicle and the sales manager, despite having clearly explained the seriousness of the issue. Finally, I contacted Hyundai USA. They said a ticket had been opened and that I would receive a response, but five days have passed without any follow-up. In addition the service technician recommended that I do my 15k mileage service so I did it. Three hours later I returned and find out they did not do anything. I wasted three hours. I even took a day off for no reason. On top of that the service technician was giving me false information by telling me that my vehicle is almost wrapping up. After one hour later is when the technician told be the truth that they did not do the recall . The only throng they did was the 15k mileage service which I didn't have to do until then. I only drive 13k miles. Also my appointment was 8:05 and they promised that that vehicle will be ready. I will not go to these cronies anymore. I went here today, made a 12:15 appointment because my check engine light went on last night and I wanted to be sure it was safe to drive. I am due for an oil change, so I asked the price. They wanted $185 for an oil change for a 2021 Hyundai Tuscon which does not even take synthetic oil. I declined. I had to sign an agreement for a $500 retainer of sorts. I was quite taken aback, questioned the amount and was told that their techs get $250 an hour. I said where am i MERCEDES!?! I was caught between a rock and a hard place so I signed the paper. It didn't make sense to me that they get $250 an hour to hook car up to machine to see what's wrong, when I said that to Ann, she said they need to interpret the codes, and to diagnose can take up to 2 hours. Als Someone on the sales floor was going to give me a ride, so I was waiting for them to finish eating lunch. I checked in with Ann at 1:07, asked how much longer she thought it might be, decided to wait instead of leaving. At 1:50 they told me the gas cap wasn't closed all the way, I live in Jersey so they pump your gas. So not even a full hour, and they wanted to bill be $250. You would think this is the first thing they would check before even hooking it up. Seems like would be pretty common mistake. After I signed my $500 agreement, I heard another lady questioning that same fee. The manager came out and apparently that lady cried enough that the manager waived her diagnostic fee. There was also a 20 year old college student who bought her car 6 months ago and her bill was $1,900 for service. Seemed fishy to me. While I was waiting I checked my emails to see if I had a free diagnostic offer. I didn't but I found a free oil change offer. When I paid I showed Ann this email and asked why she didn't offer me this when I inquired about an oil change. She replied that corporate sends out those emails and they do not honor them. I went upstairs to see the manager of sales. He pointed out that the email was sent by Paramus Hyundai. He offered to have the oil changed for me, but I was so furious by that point, I just needed to leave. Bottom line, customer service is dead at Paramus Hyundai, I bought 4 cars with the sales department. I think it is a huge hindrance to the wonderful sales department that they are in the same building if they are not affiliated, the sales manager was able to help get me a discount on the diagnostic fee which just proves again that the service department is not out to build relationships with their customers. I made an appt to bring my husband's high-end Hyundai here on 2/19/24. My husband and I each drove separate cars, 1 hour round trip to drop the car off. Despite me having given the scheduling agent ALL the correct car info, (make, model and year) and a full clear list of all the items we needed fixed for the service appt, when we arrived, we were told that that particular service center could not address 2 of the 3 issues we had. I was so annoyed bc our time was wasted. I left and proceeded to make a series of ten phone calls, asking for managers and escalating the issue. I left 3 VMs for 3 different managers explaining in detail the issue we had and asking for a call back. NOT one single person has called back to date. I also spoke live to Samantha, 3 times that day and she assured me that her boss, Heather would call me back. Well, it's been 5 days and no word from Heather. Why? because NO ONE cares. That is the level of service you get when you buy an 80K car. We are better off with our local mom and pop gas station mechanic where we live. I just called them again on 2/23/24 and spoke with Constantinos in the service dept. I asked him for Heather, he said he didn't know who that was, but put me on hold for 6 minutes and came back and said the manager would call me back. I asked what the managers name was and he said "we are not allowed to give out that info" Really? What kind of crap is that? You know she isn't calling back either. All I can say is take your fob for the car off of your key chain when you leave your car for service. The standard practice is for the service team to remove it and put a paper tracker on a basic key ring. They are supposed to leave your key chain in your car so you can reattach it when you get your car back. They do not mention this when you leave your car for service. Must be too difficult for and time consuming for them to mention it to their customers. In my case, that did not happen to me and I lost my key chain that had personal items on it. Not worth much but certainly sentimental value to. Of course, they appologized from the service agent to the servie manager but pointed out, it is not thier fault. So nobody took responsiblity or even told me how this could have happened. Is this the kind of place you want to do business with? Not me. Hard lesson learned. Avoid This Dealership! I brought my 2011 Hyundai Sonata in for a clock spring replacement under an extended warranty (TSB 17-BE-004-1). The car showed every sign of a broken clock spring, but they insisted on quoting a 2-hour diagnostic, even though the TSB states the diagnosis only takes 20 minutes. They confirmed the clock spring was faulty, but then claimed the airbag light was on for a different reason and are charging me $450! Despite me being clear that I only wanted the clock spring diagnosed, they still pushed unnecessary diagnostics. I would never bring my vehicle here for any service... Even warranty work! read more

During check-in, I was given an official looking diagnostic for wheel alignment with numbers showing my alignment was way off, funny thing, I noticed no issues while driving but figure the numbers were accurate and it seemed odd that they were able to get a wheel diagnostic so quickly when I had basically only just handed over my keys less than 5 mins ago. Asked for diagnostic print-out after wheel alignment was done so I have before and after numbers, got suspicious push back when asking for print-out. I got home asked my husband who works on cars to review the diagnostics and I was basically scammed, the "official looking" numbers they presented me to convince me that my wheel alignment was off, was way worse and completely different compared to the before numbers on the final printout, the alignment numbers were so minor that a wheel alignment was not necessary. So they either got first diagnostic numbers from an mis-calibrated device or they completely faked the initial alignment numbers because there was no way they could have performed the initial diagnostic in under 5 mins. This is the same place that previously try to convince me to buy an entire new tire for $400 for a nail because they claimed Hyundai policy does not allow them to patch tires, luckily I got a second opinion and the nail they "found" did not even puncture my tire. This place seems to pull scams on customers under the guise of their 3-year free maintenance services to convince them to pay for unnecessary expensive services. From day one of new car purchase, in bad weather I consistently get alerts to "Check Rear Signal" for both sides but these alerts reset and go away when you turn car off and I tell the dealership each time I bring in for service with pictures of the alerts on my dash, but they claim they could not find the issue and never seem to fix the problem, what a lemon! read more

I'd give -100 on a scale of 1 to 5 for my experience at Hyundai of Paramus if I could. I brought in my 2016 Hyundai Sonata into Paramus Hyundai for service over a month ago. I spoke with a very nasty woman behind the counter. I told her I needed a replacement fob. She charged my credit card for $738 for the replacement fob. According to JD Power in this article dated 3/23, a replacement key fob should cost $125. Hyundai of Paramus charged $735, it took over a month for a missing part to come in, and then they wanted to charge $100 more for installation even though they never said there was an additional charge for installation on our receipt for $735. I recently purchased a vehicle from this dealership and received a call a day later to bring it in for some type of certification. I was confused because why would they allow me to pull it off the lot if it was not complete. I do understand that these things can happen so we scheduled for a 9:30 appt which he stated would only take 25 minute. It is now going on a total of three hours of me waiting. I have now missed an appointment I had set up. They placed a set of two new tires on which was nice as a courtesy but honestly I would have preferred a straight and honest reply for the time frame. The dealer named Eddie Santiago is who I dealth with. When I voiced my frustration he became upset and was also very rude. This dealership should be considered an organized crime syndicate with the amount of money they're stealing from false repair quotes and unwarranted "fees". Corporate needs to clean house with the current management, as they are involved in blue collar theft rather than actually selling cars. Their explanations on why repairs cost as much as they do are borderline cryptic with absolutely no validity.
