A Good, Local, Cheap Option In Automotive Exhaust Repair One of several problems with my car that I am unable to repair myself has been a leak in the exhaust system. I went to three separate repair facilities to gather estimates, and Tony's Mufflers provided the best price. But, before you drive, tow, or push your car into the shop, there are a few things you should know. The shop looks crowded, the staff is always engaged in a job (on a lift), the waiting room looks like a tornado flew through the doorway, and the customer service over the phone is confusing at best. Just drive your car up to the garage doors. This makes the staff aware that a new job is rolling in, and it's safer than getting out of your vehicle and walking underneath a lift. Eventually, someone will come and speak with you. If you don't like flies and clutter, avoid the waiting room. When you call - and, you definitely should call before you go - realize it's like calling a stranger on a cell phone; there's no pre-greeting or desk clerk like at Meineke. Just tell them what vehicle you drive, what you think is wrong, and ask when is a good time to come over. Keep it simple ------ (KISS). I picked-up my car today and the job I needed was done to my satisfaction, BUT the mechanic left my window down... and it rained! Not cool. Also, I requested my low beam lights be changed, and they replaced low and high (for a bit more money than I anticipated). For what they fixed, the price was fair, but I'm still pissed abount the window and the wet interior. Positives? * Price * Speedy turnaround Negatives? * Phone service * Receipts and/or claim tickets are extremely vague * Space - car pickup is at DMV * Language barrier may interfere with service request What advice would you give to someone who is thinking about doing business at Tony's Mufflers? Get an estimate first. Be clear with your service request. Make sure they only perform the work you want them to do. Ask for an itemized bill, if you're uncomfortable with the quote for the total. Would you recommend a customer to use this business for anything? If you're not particular about brand name exhaust systems and parts, these guys are the cheapest, fastest option. They use a private, unnamed company to source pipes, clamps, mufflers, etc.; if you're interested in brand name parts, you won't find them here. Total scam,for 5 days couldn't figure how to open the hood of my car (I am not joking).They didn't even start performing any work on the car for 5 days-the excuse was that the hood is not opening.After I picked the car,I opened the hood myself in 5 seconds.They either didn't know how to open it (which is absurd for mechanic) or were just lying to me to buy more time. Total scam. I left my car there in the morning. I was assured repair is going to be done by end of the day. I was given a price. I called multiple times during the day to ensure car will be ready as I was told by 7:30 pm. No one ever answered the phone. When I showed up an hour before closing, I spoke with another person- nobody was aware of what's going on. My car was parked a block away and 30 minutes later I was told the repair is going to cost twice as much than what I was originally quoted when I left my car. Avoid this place at all costs!!! I went in for a muffler delete and had to wait 2 hour before I had my car worked on. They work is very sloppy and rushed, the welds are awful and have holes in them. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone to get work done on their cars read more

Tonys awesome I went to him after Meineke in Lodi charged me over 700$ for just replacing straight pipes.Afterwards, my mechanic had to put a gasket they forgot to put on. Some of the weild spots were weak. Anyway Tony replaced my muffler and pipe that leads into it for only 150$ hes very reputable why did I go to Meineke stupid decision. read more

I give them 0 Star. I dealt with them for years, but this was my last straw. I took for my check engine light was on, spent over 2,000 after all that check engine light was still on, the problem was never fixed, on top of that one of the things they were suppose to change in the vehicle was still in box next to my vehicle WOW they never even did. Had to get rid of vehicle after that, spent over 2,000 for nothing and another 4,700 for another vehicle. One mechanic only knows what he is doing, all the other ones are horrible but owner no matter how much you ask or tell them no one else touch my car they don't care and will give to whoever without your ok. read more

This is an update to my previous review. One guy in particular worked on my Jeep when I brought it over. Unfortunately, he left, and is no longer there. I took my Jeep back because of a couple of issues, and in no way could they get it through their heads I wanted my Jeep fixed. There was no priority, they could not find the issues, etc. I had several thousand dollars worth of work done there... I needed to find a new mechanic. These people are amazing and a life saver. I was working in my carpet cleaning van and suddenly my transmission failed. I tried driving it because I wasn't sure if it was that and put some transmission fluid( I know nothing about car) . My truck was breaking down in front of his shop and right into the parking lot. They then began to inspect and at first they thought it was minor but then it was the transmission . What I really liked is that they went right to work and inspected everything thoroughly. Tony ( the owner ) was very kind and calm and told me that these things happen but we can fix it for you in one day. Without my van I'm out of business so this was good news. He then told me the quote which was surprisingly much less than I expected. They could've taken advantage of me since I was desperate and I broke down right there. I then told him how will I go home since I live in Bayonne which is 45 minutes away . He said don't worry we will get you there and also pick you up when it's ready. That was so kind and surprising because nowadays nobody cares or helps without money involved. All the guys that work there were hard workers and I can see why because Tony leads by example by running and honest business and I can see in his eyes that he like his job and help others. We all have to make a living but it's this kind of caring that everyone seeks that is rare to find nowadays. Brought my car did my suspension work. Agreed on a day. When i brought my car to the shop it was suppose to have the shock/ struts mounts sway bar links and bushings replaces with alignment and rear brakes. That was on thursday afternoon. The car wasn't done till friday 6:00pm. When i got the car i was actually happy no more clunking. Till the moment when i drove to work the next day and the steering wheel was slightly titled and my car was pulling to a side. After that i noticed my headlines was all dirty with grease. What a great place to have a car repaired. Today I took my 2005 Audi 4 in for a noisy muffler. If i ad gone to a dealer or a chain location I'm sure it would have cost ten times more than the $200 I paid. Tony and his mechanic truly repaired my exhaust system with skill and hard work. Tony himself is an incredible individual who honestly and accurately diagonsed what needed to be done. I watched as they actually crafted the repair rather than rip out the old and replace the entire system. This type treatement is extended to all work I've had done at this location. read more

Worst experience ever. Don't even deserve a star. First of all their shop is located at 465 Main St in Wallington. I called up a guy working there in the morning because my muffler was making a loud noise when I pressed on the axel. I told him if I needed an appointment to come, but he said I could come after work. So I arrived around 4:30pm and nobody even bothered greeting me or asking if I need any help. I'm actually strolling through the shop to see if anybody bothers to talk. After about 15 minutes of just standing in front of a bunch of mechanics working and talking, an older man says hi and I tell him about my car issue. I ask him how long would the wait be and he said about 30 minutes and told me to wait in the waiting room which was filthy with fruit flies hanging out on the table with me. After an hour and 15 minutes or so I walked into the shop area and noticed a car that came in AFTER I did being worked on before my car, WTF. I just left, what a joke. read more

Don't recommend anyone going here I had all 4 breaks and rotors done costing me 400$ this was in May 2015 and my breaks are so loud making a lot of scratching noise I took it back to him and he says there fine! Goin to get a second opinion I have a family and can't take that chance! Also my son had Tony do work on his car he told us it was a bunch of stuff 800$ worth of work in May 2015 and the 1 major issue we took it to get fixed he told us it was a cv joint yes the noise went away for a few months and the loud clunck/bang noise came back didn't bother bringing it back cause I'm sure he'll say it's something else feeling we got robbed!!!! 1200$ worth of work DONT GO TO TONY MUFFLERS save yourself a headache read more

Whoever posted that "it's scary" must normally get their car repaired at a nail salon. Nothing scary about Tony's. My first time there it's a very large garage stocked to the brim with endless pipes and parts. Fantastic. No waiting, drove my own car on the lift, work done extremely well, fast, and reasonably priced. I will never go to another repair shop again.
