DO NOT BRING YOUR CAR HERE. He is not ASE certified since 2017. I took my car here for a 20 point inspection needed. I went to pick up the car in the evening and it would not start (Never had an issue starting the car). The next day, the mechanic checked the car and said it was the Starter. I spoke to Gary and he said it would cost me $600 to replace the Starter. I asked him to change the Starter and paid the $600. I went on vacation after picking up the car and left the car parked in the street. There was a snow storm so I asked a friend to move the car for me. The car would not start so he boosted it and the car started. When I came back I gave it a boost and drove Rahway. The car did not start when I was ready to come home so I had it towed to this shop. As it was being towed, the driver charged it and the car started by the time we got to the shop. I left the car there and the next day I called Gary and told him what happened. He said looked at it but could not do anything until the car stopped turning on again. I took my car and drove it to my sisters house in Rahway again the following weekend. Again, the car would not turn on so I got a new battery. The car still doesn't turn on so I have to pay to have it towed again to this place. It is obvious that this place changed the wrong part and now wants to charge me again to see what the issue is. Do not take your car here as this place doest know what they are doing. I should have walked away when Gary told me that his ASE Certificate was not good since 2017 and when I noticed his business card said Honest Mechanic. read more

Long overdue review but this place was a lifesaver. I needed to get the oxygen sensor replaced on a 1989 BMW. My regular BMW mechanic was unavailable, my other BMW specialist refused to do the job since the car is over 25 years old, another mechanic in Clifton said he was too busy, and Mavis Tire also refused to do the job, saying "the service light isn't on so it's not necessary". So basically it was clear to me after a while that these guys simply didn't want to take the job on due to the age of the car and the potential of it being an annoying task. I emailed Little Falls Auto Service and Gary responded within the hour, which in and of itself is a miracle. I'd give this place 5 stars for the communication alone, they're just great about responding to emails and calls. Anyway after confirming without hesitation that they'd be able to do the job, I asked for an estimate and Gary provided one but explained that the price could go up if extracting the old part was difficult (which I've seen plenty of stories online that it could be, which is probably what scared the other mechanics away). When the job was done they said there weren't any problems and charged me for the original estimate. They easily could've said the part was stuck or that they encountered other issues but no, rather than try to get more money out of me they just did the job honestly, quickly, and properly. Really can't ask for more than that - I'll definitely be bringing all my cars back to them from now on. read more

I was having problems with my car stalling when I stopped at intersections. Gary was the third person to look at the problem -- after both another private shop and a dealership, neither of which had taken the time to look deeply enough into the problem. Both places charged me just to look at my car... and the dealership hadn't even taken the time to thoroughly road test it to weed out the problem. (I had to pay that place $150 for doing nothing, more or less!). Gary actually took the time to really look into the issue but also EXPLAINED it to me thoroughly, which gave me a LOT of confidence in his efforts toward fixing my problem -- something I've never gotten from any mechanic prior. He even took the time to accomodate my hectic schedule and gave me a ride home when needed -- I wouldn't normally expect that from a small shop like this.
