Completely incompetent technicians. Couldn't even correctly change the battery in my key, not to mention leaving oil below minimum level after charging over $200 for an oil change. Went for a test ride with Sal(the owner). He verified a metal on metal noise and said he would look into finding the root cause of the problem. Next day Sal says his technician cannot duplicate the noise and therefore we can all pretend we didn't hear anything . Stay as far away from this place as possible if you value your car. This is a small shop specializing in high end imported cars. BMW, Mercedes Jaguar seem to be their specialty. Top quality work done and priced well compared to high end dealerships. The owner and staff are ethical and super friendly. They will do their best to repair a component rather than do an expensive replacement. They repaired a piece of leaking flexible exhaust pipe that was part of the catalytic converter assembly. The converter was fine. Saved me hundreds of dollars. Other shops would have just replaced the converter. I have been bringing my car and friends cars for years. I have never been dissatisfied. read more

BMW quoted me $3000 for this. Literally just a plastic piece of the bumper. It is a swappable part but BMW wanted to give me a whole new radiator, bumper, license plate, and wanted to paint it again. Sal is awesome! I've got a 2010 Porsche Cayenne GTS out of warranty and needed a new serpentine belt, oil change, gas cover gaskets and other miscellaneous items repaired. I went to 2 Porsche dealerships and they quoted ridiculous amounts including work which was not necessary. I've finally found THE MECHANIC and will always bring my car here. I have been a customer since 2011 when I first heard of Rennsport. My 2001 Audi a6 2.7t Quattro is approaching 200k miles, and has been under Sal's care for the last 70k miles. I've had several issues resolved in a timely manner, estimates are always prompt and accurate. Sal never performs unnecessary work, and always gets to the source of the issue. Work performed includes oil and fluid changes, tire changes, check engine lights caused by faulty sensors, pumps, electric issues, and emission system faults. If I had gone to a dealer I would have been better off just buying a new car, but having used rennsport made the repairs affordable. Customer service is also 5 stars, prompt return of phone calls, white glove service, careful explanation of charges, and a very common sense methodical approach to mechanics. 70k miles of service and not one complaint. Trustworthy, Honest, Knowledgeable, Fair. I have a 2001 Audi TT convert. The car was a electrical and computer horror. Before I found Rennsport I went to the dealer and sat in a nice chair, watched the big screen TV, had a double latte and a nice turkey wrap. Meanwhile I was being mugged in the back by the 20 something year old mechanic who wasn't sure which $1200 computer module he would plug in next see if that fixed the problem. Sal and Joel preformed a thorough diagnosis were able to troubleshoot and correct the problem. Car never ran better and I have enough money left to take my family of four to the Plaza for dinner. I became acquainted with Rennsport when my 04 Audi S4 cabriolet was out of it's service plan and taking it to a dealer was cost prohibitive. The car was behaving strangely with a weird noise. I called the shop and got the owner, Sal. He was very knowledgeable and it came to light they have been in business for 31 years, it shows. Sal shoots you straight and gets it done without any extras. The care and attention that you get here is nothing like the transactional experience that you would have at a dealer, no sales pitch - just solution. I have to say the car rides like it is on rails since the guys at Rennsport have gotten ahold of it. Sal is very detail oriented and the work is nothing short of extraordinary. I have since been back for other repairs, an oil change, and a detail. All of which were done superbly. I had my rims refurbished by them and I got a call from Sal to tell me one of the tires looked a little sketchy and another he saw was patched, he told me to have another set sent to him and he would put them on. Great proactive maitenence when you would never have heard this at a shop, dealership, or tire store. I bring my car here for EVERYTHING! I don't think I can go anywhere else. When you see some of the gorgeous, vintage, and well maintained cars from the 60's, 70's, & 80's waiting to be picked up by thier owners it is a testament to the workmanship here. With these complex machines that doesn't happen by accident, in many cases it doesn't even happen by intention! My Audi at 9 years is nowhere close to what they have seen, work on, and maintian at Rennsport. They say German cars don't last, who are they anyway? They have obviously never heard of Rennsport. Call the Enterprise rent a car in Hackensack, tell them that you have your car at Rennsport and they will give you a shop rate and also pick you up at the shop and drop you off when it is done. Not a good experience. My car had some problems in ignition and the check engine light was on. People in Rennsport checked it and told me I have to change igniton coil and spark plugs. $300 is gone, but the problem is still there. I took my car to them again. This time I was told the problem is the injector, and a new injector costs another few hundred dollars. Also they said they will contact me when injector is in store, but a few months passed, and no news at all. Finally I paid $300 and got nothing. read more

Sal was a great help with my 325i. Knowledgable and fast. (I had an important trip planned and I think he moved some things around to help me quickly.) After another shop replaced a few parts, they threw up their hands on one persistent problem and blamed it on "bad gas." Their computer scan showed nothing wrong, but their suggestion didn't pass the sniff test. Sal took a closer look and found a possible cause. Rather than just replace the part, he tested it further to affirm his suspicion. By the next day, he completed the repair and the problem was solved. The car runs perfectly. From the get go Sal and his team were amazing. I had an electrical problem with my 2010 bmw 5 series. Which could've easily cost an arm and a leg, but Sal recommended a diagnosis for two hours where he could run a bunch of tests and hopefully find the problem. This was slightly worrying for me because I didn't want to spend money on the labor and come out empty handed. Which is often the case. I was in a very compromised situation where most mechanics can easily take advantage of you. Soon after I get a call from Sal saying that they reset the modules and tested the car. They addressed the problem immediately and kept it over night for testing. I expected to pay the two hours of labor charges and maybe some others as well, but I was surprised to see a bill for a fraction of the price. Sal charged me for less than an hour of labor. Saying that it was an easy fix. Which is something incredible and hard to find from most mechanics. He's my new permanent mechanic and a recommendation for anyone. Honest, very polite and helpful. I arrived on time for an early morning appointment to swap out my summer tires and install the winter wheel & tire setup I had delivered direct from the warehouse. Sal happily offered to store the off-season tires (for a reasonable fee) as well. He also doesn't try to over-sell you with his recommendations, just a straight shooter.
