If you want straight up honest service this is the place. I was driving my 2014 Jeep Wrangler (my baby) when it started to rain. Front wipers, headlights and turn signals not coming on and the rear wiper wouldn't turn off. First thought was fuses. Tried to figure it out and gave up. Next am took it to Ray. He checked it out and found computer wasn't sending signals to car. Dealer time. After literally having nightmares about poor customer service at jeep dealer I made an appointment with on the way we noticed all was working fine. Went back to Ray to pay him and he refused to take a dime!! He said he did nothing and refused money for at least diagnosing problem!! I called in for a used car inspection. Ask for cash quote - he said 70, and needs 2-3 hr notice before coming. Price wasn't spectacular (this was quoted in 3 diff shops in Paramus) but this was closest to dealership, so I agree. I call next day at 10 AM to if I can come at 1, and he says come now. I go with the used car. First thing - no "hi" or nothing. OK, no biggie, anyone can have a bad day. He (appeared to be owner/manager) lifts the car WITHOUT asking me ANYTHING - didnt' even confirm if I was the guy who made the call... and starts doing something. His just looks at stuff w/flash light.. and that's it. I've been to other used car inspection places and i can see them connecting their digital diagnostics tool to the car. This time? NOTHING. He just looks.. and that's it. Then I get a PIECE of paper w/scribbles on it. Can barely make out what it says. He does speak to me about what the issues are but there's NO report whatsoever - no measurements, no readings, no nothing. I needed this report to negotiate with the seller. He won't give it. Worst - he starts getting MAD and starts screaming that I'm asking "too much".. and that i'm bothering him in his busy time, when there was NO OTHER CAR at the time except mine. I keep asking for something more detailed since i'm getting it from a dealer and it's gonna be looked by pros. He tells me to pay additional $150/hr and will give me formal report. Worst part - he is screaming and pestered at 11 AM in the morning on a WEEKDAY. The dealership's sales employee was with me .. and he even screams at this poor guy - for WHAT? I never asked him to talk to the dealer's sale guy. He's mad b/c im asking him to give me more detailed report? All in all, TERRIBLE experience. I've done 3 used car inspections the past month - and by FAR, this was the WORST. Will NEVER EVER go here again. I question all the reviews on this shop. read more

My husband and I took my '13 Toyota RAV 4 on a trip to Pennsylvania and noticed a sound coming from one of the tires. We figured we wouldn't be able to have it looked at for 1-2 days but Leo and Ray's happened to be open later and said we could take it in that night and they'd have a look in the morning. We had a feeling that it was something really minor and expected the cost to be a lot regardless but nope, Leo and Ray's did the repair and priced it very fairly. They also got it done quickly and we were back in business by the next afternoon. Highly recommend this place and already making a note to take both of our cars here for the future. read more

My brother has been going to Ray for well over a decade at this point, or maybe even longer. He has always recommended for me to go there, but I would often go to Sears so I could get no interest financing on larger repairs. At Leo & Ray's, I paid half the price of what Sears and other mechanics quoted me, and I got my car back the same day I dropped it off even though he had to order parts to complete the job. I moved to Fair Lawn and my mechanic was about 40 minutes away and needed some big maintenance due on that week. Ray is just awesome. He was very good with understanding your needs and getting it right the first time. When you first see the building, you kinda have to clinch to see if the owner might be the stereotypical guy that will do some halfa** job and charge you a lot. This was definitely not the case with Ray. He took care of all the maintenance schedule that I had on the car and did what he needed to, and left the ones that seemed like it did not need any replacement. He is not like the guys in the dealer that will change a brand new battery that was installed 2 days ago just because it said to replace it in the maintenance schedule. His prices are very good compared to a lot of other mechanics out there. I took a chance going there with just the 2 reviews on Yelp but thanks to them, I have met a genuine mechanic in town. read more

Always liked Ray but will never step foot in this place again - used him for a brake repair to my GMC Denali and ended up taking my "fixed" vehicle back to him after smoke was POURING out from under the truck 2 days later (w my 11 year old in back seat). Completely denied any responsibility, was rude and annoyed that his repair work was being questioned!! Sad fact is he is slipping with age.. read more
