I called in the morning about buying a tire and having it installed. the guy was courteous and found my tire match and said it would be at the local shop in Greenbrook, NJ by 4pm and price would be $260 with tax. I called on way there at 3:45 and lady on phone said it wasn't there. then called me back 10 minutes later to say it was. Got there at 4:05. Car went in by 4:10. lady calls me to counter after 25 minutes to tell me two tires are low on tread and they are also topping off my wiper fluid. no thanks I said. It then took another 30 minutes for one tire to be installed. when done she told me it was $285.64 and I already left a $25 deposit in the morning. suck crap this company. they lie and bill you for stuff you don't need. and as I expressed my annoyance and said I would never be back, I get on the highway and at about 65 miles per hour the hood flies open because the idiot didn't check to see that it was closed. I wanted to have my tires replaced and an oil change for the incoming winter storm. While the car was being serviced, they told me my brakes were shot and also needed to be replaced. When i got it back there was a rattling noise coming from the right-front wheel. I've never noticed any noises coming from my car before this so i brought it back and asked them to diagnose and fix the problem. They refused, stating that it must have been rattling before because they couldn't have caused the problem. I spent roughly $1,400 to get my car back in worse shape than i left it in. I've been to this Mavis location on several occasions and have never had a bad experience. Nelson was courteous, professional and kept me updated throughout the service. I would definitely use them again. I will say one thing, the Mavis website needs a makeover. Not very intuitive and very cumbersome. Can't find where to post a review. Not sure why this place has such a low rating because my experience was nothing but positive and Jesse was amazing! Went the first time because one of my tires had a slow leak. I was able to leave my car while I went to the gym and they were able to plug it but advised that I would need new tires since the thread was super low. Being that I work super far and I had seen so many blow out lately, I decided to see what they had to offer. They used to be pretty good. (I repair and update my vintage vette, so I'm familiar with car maint/repair). The last few experiences, not so good. My wife went there with a slow tire leak. Dude at the counter is like 'ya definitely need all new tires, this tire has a HUGE hole that can't be fixed and has no tread'. (Next day I had it patched at Riverside in Saddle Brook) Meanwhile, in the real world, before I sent her there I had removed the tire to find the source of the leak (small nail) and I checked out the tread. So, essentially the counter dude was not accurate, to say the best, untruthful to say the worst. Anyway, there ya go. read more

Run far away from this place, they will rip you off. 2 years ago I took a vehicle here to fix a slow leak in a tire. They ended up damaging my driver side automatic window and conveniently claimed it was like that. They were kind enough to offer to fix it for an arm and a leg. I declined. Recently, my husband took a different vehicle in to get new tires. There was an issue with a belt making noise which we were going to take to his work to be fixed. After a couple of hours of the car being there, we got a call that the car is making noise and the water pump needs to be changed. We already knew what the problem was so we declined and asked they just put on the tires. After many more hours of waiting for a phone call to get the car we just went there. It was done and sitting there. We paid and drove it home (which is only about a mile and a half). Once in the driveway the car lost all of it's coolant. Again, they conveniently claimed it was like that. I will tell anyone who will listen, if you take your car here for something they will find something else "wrong" with it. If you decide that you don't want that extra thing fixed, they will damage your car hoping you will go back to them or just spite. Either way this place is a rip off and should be investigated. Honest shop. I came here on a Sunday morning at the 9am opening to have one of my tires checked out, since I was worried about some minor damage.. A guy at the front desk checked out the tire and said it's nothing to worry about in the current state, but to keep an eye on it to see if it gets worse. A lot of other shops that I've been to would have pushed a sale right then and there for a new tire replacement, but I left here with an honest assessment. They always say every time I visit that I need to change my brake pads and rotors, so I have been. My car is only 4 years old. On my last visit, it wasn't even a full six months before my last change but they said the same thing again so I told them that. They proceeded to call me back 4 times that day, offering a lower price every time they called. To my suspicion, I got a second opinion and a different private shop that told me my pads and rotors were fine for at least another year and that they get tons of customers who come from Mavis that have been scammed. Yes, they're nice and work in a timely fashion but can't trust what they say I need for my car anymore. read more

They called me many times during my work hours to sell me things that I didn't want. I told specifically what needs to be done. When I called and asked if they could get my tire changed by the end of the day the guy on the phone said no problem and even told me the tire options available he said come in and we'll take care of you. I used STS for years in Fair Lawn, I was always satisfied . This was the first time I used Mavis Tire who now occupies the STS building. I went in the day before to chose tires for my wife's car. I met with John the Manager, I decided on the tires that I wanted, he had 3 on display in the show room, he said he will find the 4th in the back storage area. We scheduled an appointment for 8:00 AM the following day. We arrived the following day, on time. He told my wife and I that the car will be ready in an hour and a half. We returned at 10:00 AM the car was not done, he didn't have the tires, he just sent a driver out to get them from another location . My wife was annoyed with John' s attitude and I said that he is Bulls__ting us. He claims he does lie. Yeah!! "the proof is in the pudding". Why didn't John call us, and tell us about the situation, what happened to the tires on display from yesterday. I have been buying tires and repairing cars since 1968. My previous experience with Mavis was very positive, which is why I returned. Both visits were to remove a nail from my tire. First time I used Mavis, they were polite, quick - in and out, no problem. This past experience wasn't the same. I called ahead to see if I could come in straight away, they took my info over the phone and told me to come on in. After waiting an hour and a half, I was told the news was bad. They couldn't repair the tire, I had to get a new one. Maybe this was the case - but during the hour and half that I sat in the waiting room, the story was the same for every customer - "we have bad news", I couldn't help but feel people were being scammed. read more

Great customer service. I had a noon appointment to get some snow tires put on my car on a recent Sunday. It turned out to be a snowy day, and when I arrived, I was told that they were short a couple of mechanics and that my car would not be ready until after closing time-- several hours later. This was disappointing, but after some discussion, the rep who was helping me (I think his name was Dan) said that he would try to squeeze me in. The work ended up being completed in about 2 hours, which, under the circumstances, was a pretty good outcome. This place used to be really great. I've been using them to service my vehicles and tires for years. My last visit a couple of weeks ago completely changed that and I will no longer return there to have any work done on my cars. I made an appointment for a Sunday morning to have the oil changed and tires rotated. Tires that I purchased there and were to be rotated for free per the deal I paid for when I purchased them. I was there on time. The person with the keys to open the business was 20 minutes late!!! I was then told that there was no appointment in the system for me, even though I'd called the previous Thursday and was told I was all set for Sunday morning. So I waited for over 2 hours to have the oil changed and tires rotated in my car as there were the customers there whose appointments were in the MAVIS computer system ahead of me. After returning home I noticed that my tires had NOT been rotated as I requested and there's one with a slow leak that I must now find another, better service company to fix. Terrible service. Not sure what happened. Used to be well managed. read more
