I had a less-than-stellar experience here: Pros: - It was easy to schedule an appointment Cons: - Kimberly at the front desk told me the service would take "30 minutes maximum" when I dropped my car off. I called them an hour later, while outside their office, and she said "we need 45 more minutes, we just want to look into a potential issue with your car"....meanwhile my car was parked exactly where I left it, outside the service center. They straight-up lied to me. - The service was supposed to come with a free tire rotation. Kim asked if I had the wheel lock key on me, and I said no but it was in the glove compartment. She asked if I was sure, and I said yes. The mechanic 'decided' not to look for the wheel lock key, even though I told them exactly where it was, so I didn't get the service. Felt like they were just being lazy, considering how late they started my service. - I told them something was up with my back passenger tire when I dropped off the car and asked if they could "tell me what was going on" (my EXACT words). Turns out I had a nail in it. They found it...then did a $40 repair without my knowledge or consent. I needed the repair, but I could have gotten it done for much cheaper elsewhere. I told them I was surprised and disappointed they didn't call me before doing the work, and Kimberly said that wasn't 'standard service' for them. - It is dirty inside. I understand a mechanic's work is not clean, but they had oil puddles on the floor. There were also spiderwebs by the front-desk. Overall, I wouldn't come back. read more

I walked into Midas with no appointment explained that my tire light kept going on thought it was because of change in temperature but even after adding air light would go back on after a day or two, The service manger had tech put on lift told me there was a nail in the tire. I said ok was going to bring to dealership where I had a tire warranty . He said it was already patched at no charge!. Amazing! read more

This is the worst repair shop. Bad service worse work. Had to go back multiple times to for the same repair. Ended up going to Paramus Midas because Dumont kept insisting the work was done right. Do NOT take your car to MIDAS in Lumberton, NJ. Frankie, from Triple A, took my flat tire off my car and I took my tire to Midas to have the nail hole plugged. The store manager, Norm Berard, brought my tire to me with a huge hole in it saying that it was in the trunk that way. Frankie, from Triple A, texted a statement vehemently denying Norm's accusations. I spoke with Regional Manager Don Garbacki who refuses to even listen, accept Frankie's statement or view the picture. I filed with the BBB, Attorney General's office, disputed the transaction, filed a police report and filed another formal complaint with Midas Corporate office. This is a complete nightmare during my father's funeral. I am out a total of 297.00 due to this fraud. Don Garbacki and Nor Berard should be FIRED and charged with FRAUD, theft by deception.. read more

I came in for brake work and left with new brakes plus oil service and all new filters for the price that I intended to pay for brakes only. Devon worked with my budget, something I am not used to when it comes to car repairs. After I was all paid up and out the door my car would not start. They spent an hour fixing a wire harness issue that the dealer should have taken care of a long time ago. So, basically, for the price of new brakes I drove away with a car that was in better shape than it was when I purchased it. Had to get an oil change for my car and was looking for a place close to my home. Called up Midas and made an appointment with Charlie to bring my car in the next day. Dropped my car off in the morning and Charlie finished the job before noon. When I went to pick up the car, Charlie mentioned to me that my tires are in bad shape and they should probably be replaced. He gave me a quote but at no point did he pressure me into getting them done immediately. I told him I'll make another appointment should I choose to go ahead with the tire replacement. I schuduled a online appoint for 3.05.22 at 8am via web site. I got to the shop at 7:30 in the morning and parked in lot. I waited for shop to open. I went in and went to service desk i told that i had an 8 am appointment for my brakes... Steve the manager did know any about the appointment so i showd him the confirmation email... He then re took all my information and took my keys ... An hour later he takes me into the service bay and tells me i need all this work... i was confused at that point. We go back to service desk and prints out a service estimate over 2500 dollars...i told him i only need rotors and brake pads ...since i just had my car serviced at honda. He the re writes service agreement for 1400 I sign the service agreement and ask how long for service he say maybe 2 hours. While waiting i use the bathroom which was a complete disaster. I figured to get coffee or water ... no cups for either and very dirty. Atfer 6 plus hours waiting the service tech comes and start speaking to Chris the assitant manager about my cars. Chris leans over to Steve abd they talk about it. Then Steve tells me you need another part. A master brake part for 500 dollars. At this point i said to Steve just fix my car base on the service agreement. i gavethe paperwork back. Steve the nanager takes the print ou and throws it out. Mean while Chris tellthe service to replace the part and do all stuff which i didnt agree to. Another hour goes by. I tell Chris i want all the parts he is replacing. He look scared at point and talks the Steve the manager ... He tells him to get the parts. I see him go to service bay to find parts... Once he gets them he starts taking pictures of them .. Now pushing 8 hours there i ask Chris is my car done??? He looks at me and laughs i will check. Meanwhile i notice two young gentlemen in service area. We start speaking to find out they are friends with one of service techs. They leave the building and see them pulling their car into the bay. Their friend starts to installs two aftermarket muffers to make it louder. Chris the manager was just hanging with them and they never paid for the work being done. While my car is still not fixed. It closing time the service tech is trying to finish working on my car.. Chris and Steve are talking to him while i watch from inside. I can see he is upset about something.. and start just putting my tires on the car.. He take it out for a drive 2 minutes maybe.. and rushs to hand the paperwork to Chris. I am watching all this... Both Steve and Chris are at customer desk. Chris is updating the while Steve is telling him what to charge.. Chris hands me the bill for 2117.13. I tell him this incorrect i didnt agree to all these charges. Chris tell me if you want the car you have to pay. I pay the bill and start asking questions about the bill. I ask for a copy of the signed service authorization. Chris looks at Steve and they finally give me the signed one. Again asking questions to both of them. They say just go. So i walk into the service bay to speak to the service tech... He said i cant talk to me. Then Chris jump in leave or i will call the police. So i just go to my car and leave. This morning i drive my daughter to school and my car starts smoking. It appears the breaks are locked and making the car run over 4000 rms ... i get to the school and start looking at the breaks and engine... everything looks messed up. I was able to bring my car in asap, and get the service i needed asap. Armen the mechanic showed me all of the issues with my car and helped me decide the best options for the repair. I really do not like to provide anyone with a harsh review unless it's absolutely warranted. And, I left Midas annoyed so I feel as though it is warranted in this case. I went to Midas in Dumont to get an estimate on 4 new tires for my 2008 Honda Civic and the man made a call and came back with 1 brand only at $800.00 total- That seemed high to me. I want to add, I felt as though I was burdening him - and he wasn't so friendly or excited to search for at least 3 (tire brand) estimates for me. I went to Exxon the very same day and was give 6 options from 97. to 160. a tire, and he was honest and so I went with decent and a 500. total for 4. Exxon went above and beyond to help me, and made sure I was going with a good tire for my car. They made me feel as though every customer is an important customer- I wouldn't go anywhere else but to them now. read more

If you want your car fixed right, in a timely manner, and with professional customer service, bring your car elsewhere! An oil change and a shifter fix turned into a $3800 sales pitch. When I said know I never got a call that the car was ready and when I did pick it up the shifter components were on the floor and the car was still locked in park. Obviously every case is different and in the end mine ended up being an easy fix (for them). I had a slow leak and they said that the cause was the rim was slightly dented (dad's car, he probably bumped a curb), so they banged it out (literally) and the leak was gone (haha if it comes back within the next day I will update, but so far so good). The rim is steel not aluminum as the technician explained to me, so it could be fixed by hammering it out to remove the dent. We have all had our share of bad experiences at certain establishments (whether it be food, auto, etc) and I could see them easily ripping me off and saying I needed a new tire, but they told me what they saw and fixed it. The best part of it - they didn't charge me because it was such a quick and easy fix (THIS DOES NOT MEAN YOUR JOB WOULD NECESSARILY BE FREE! Lol) I just tipped the technician and that was it. Beware! These guys need more skills on technical issues. I visited them for AC issue and they did something not accurate charged me about $2000 also broke windshield though they replaced it. I took my car for an oil change to Midas in Dumont NJ around 8:00 am today. I had also told them that my car is starting strangely. Also mentioned battery corrosion and checking my battery. After I dropped my car off they called me around 8:25 am saying that I need a new battery and a brake flush. I asked how much it would be and he said battery was going to be $95 and brake flush was going to be $119. I said fine because the car needs it. When I go to pick up my car it is still starting the same way. I check my invoice from the visit and it says I was charged 144.95 for the battery part and 40.88 for the labor. On the phone when he called me he said $95 for the battery. I called him and I told him that I was charged 144.95 for the battery and not $95 and he denied ever saying the battery was $95 even though my dad and his fiancé overheard the whole conversation when he called because he was on speaker phone. We went back and forth and he was still sticking to his story. I ended up just letting it go because he wouldn't admit that he lied. An hour or two later I check under the hood of my car to see if they cleaned the battery corrosion and it is still there. And they broke the red battery terminal cap. I don't recommend this place! They will lie right to your face and overcharge you as well as not fix the problem that your car is having! Now I have to bring my car to another mechanic that actually does his job! I give 0 stars to Midas for taking advantage of a naive young woman! I also felt like they said I needed a brake flush when I probably didnt! And new tires! I pulled in while he and a fellow employee were both working on other cars, but since I only needed a third break light fixed (after get pulled over for it) he decided to take care of me quickly then go back to what he was doing. Been to a few Midas and never ran into this. Went on a Saturday for an oil change. When I was told an hour and a half I told the employee I would get breakfast & be right back. He didn't put my name on the list and went on comparing the businesses to me. Said that they were not a Jiffy Lube. They do the same just slower. I was at Stop&Shop with my two kids under 5! When I came out I noticed I had a flat tire. I was panicking and didn't know what to do. I slowly drove to Midas because that was the closest option and showed the guy. He said not to worry and asked me to be seated and bring the kids inside while he worked on it. I did have a spare tire thankfully but had no idea since my husband takes care of it all. They changed my tire less than 10 min and before I even got to the cashier the gentlemen said don't worry about it! I mean how sweet was that! I was already freaking out with my two kids (my younger one was 6 months) I couldn't believe it! There are very few generous people out there nowadays! My car exhaust pipe cracked at the catalytic converter and when to Midas for a repair. I was quoted $1,200 because I was told that the oxygen sensors were frozen in the existing system and the whole system needed replacement. I told the manager that I did not want them to do the work, so the mechanic looking at my car pulled it out of the garage in an act of rage and further broke the flex connector. I later took it down the road and got it repaired for $100. read more

I've been going to this Midas for a few years now and I have to say the service is always excellent. I mainly go for oil changes and my car is always done within a reasonable time. They give a good report on what was done and what may need work. I usually work with Charlie and he's always been fantastic. Dropped my car off Wednesday night and got a call by 8:15 Thursday morning telling my what was wrong and what my options were. Took care of the exhaust system which was my reason for bringing it there, and even though I didn't take care of a few of the other things they mentioned, I didn't really get a 'hard sell' when talking with them. Not happy with the service... I had an issue with my tire sensor, I knew the price was higher than what it should have been but i was hoping that results would be up to my expectation...which is simply the tire low pressure sign should have gone away after the installation of the expensive sensor. I overpaid and then was told, the tire pressure light would still not go away for xyz reasons... Went in here today as a metal piece under my car started hanging down and making an awful noise. They were able to look at my car the second I got there (which was 4 minutes from when I called!) and fixed it in ten minutes and then didn't even charge me! I did tip them $20 for their work. Don't be a fool by going here. I live in the area and I must write this. It really sickens me especially when I see old folks and women. They mark up the parts at least 30 percent and the labor is through the roof. Also you have to keep in mind, they are using after market parts straight from China. I went there for a estimate for some front end work . I didn't want to get under the car because of an injury. Granted I'm fortunate I can do a lot of repairs myself. I priced all the parts I neede in the Internet which is a little cheaper than the auto parts store. I tallied aprox. 300 in parts and figured 4 hours labor. At 90 to 100 per hour labor, the job should of cost 700.00 plus tax. They gave me a quote of 1800.00 dollars. I asked the manager, if he was sure because I researched the scope of the work and he told me that 1800.00 was correct. I just starred at him. I asked him if the parts were gold plated ? And asked how do you justify that cost? He told me that's what we charge. I went to Paul on prospect Avenue and he did a great job for almost what I thou it would be. 780.00 done deal. It was a lot of work. Calipers, rotors, tie rod ends, brakes, wheel alignment and a few other miner things. And guess what ? I got top notch factory OEM parts mostly made in the great U S of A. We brought our car here today after being told by Valvoline in Bergenfield that we needed a new serpentine belt. He called and asked who had told us we needed a new belt, and he let us know that all of the belts in our car were in great shape and definitely did not need to be replaced. Went here once. They fixed my car and found the best way to do it for the best price and I loved it! Thought I would come here from now on since it's close to home and affordable and the guy Charlie seemed to really care. Then last week I schedule an oil change for today. Called today to confirm. He said to come in so I did. Show up just for him to say nevermind can't do it! So scheduling an appointment a week in advance and calling the day of to confirm then being told nevermind. Really. So now I have work all day tomorrow and have to travel on Wednesday. It's now 3 in the afternoon and I have to scramble to find a place to help me before they all close and leave me screwed for Wednesday.
