I've been their customer every since... let's see... early 2000s. Was sad to see their original location close, and I thought the world was over and I sojourned in the wilderness looking for half as trustworthy mechanics in the Fort Lee area... until on my recent first trip to CostCo Teterboro I saw a mirage to my right... The Korean Flag. On an Automechanic shop. I rubbed my eyes in disbelief for a second and stared again - and there it was - the proud Korean flag + automechanic combo, which could only harken back to my memories of seeing the same in the original location closer to Palisades Park side of the same Rt. 46. I literally stopped by right away and there they were, like Professor X and the Beast in the X-Men movies quietly deliberating on plans to kick Magneto's ass, Mr. Kang and Mr. Choi(?) the owner - fine gents jus' doing their thang. Owner recognized me despite 10+ years having passed. As did Mr. Kang who immediately gave me the lowdown on my problem with battery and installed a new one, and my oft-dead car issue that plagued me for several months... solved. Other mechanics told me it could be alternator issue so they didn't want to sell me battery just to have the car dead the next day or so, and Mr. Kang just explained the $h%# out of those dudes to the stratosphere. BAMN. PEW-PEW! KAZAAM!!! Hasta la vista baby. All my clouds of confusion and worry - GONE with the wrench. *cue the scene of gunslinger holstering his smoking wrench back* "But Mr. Kang, what about what they told me about my timing belts that are so old? Any dangers?" Another lightning-fast Bruce Lee-esq explanation why I need not worry. BAMN! POW! 1-inch punched outta hell to the Andromedas. And this was all done within a few efficient minutes close to their closing time. I didn't have anymore fearful issues to inquire about. A nice handshake and a knowing smile, and a promise to return, and return the hell I shall. I don't have to second guess myself anymore on any more mechanical issues which I have plenty with my 2004 Acura TSX until I can get a new one after this ridiculous car inflation subsides. And then some with my new car, I can be sure counted to come ONLY to Tech Power. Screw dealers - I ain't going anywhere else and I don't need your watered-down coffee. If you've been struggling finding honest mechanics who're super experienced, can and WILL take time to EXPLAIN what they're doing, give you REASONABLE price, and CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS... look no further - come to Tech Power, your car's promised land foretold in the Car Bible. You really can't go wrong here. I looked this place up out of morbid curiosity to see what people have been saying. And while I'm surprised that more than 2 people went out of their way to review a mechanic on Yelp, I'm not surprised about the reviews. Jay (co-owner) is my dad! I watched him and Mr. Jin build this business since I was 10, which was 24 years ago. When they first opened down the street in Little Ferry, I remember my dad would go out very early in the mornings to work, come home for dinner, and leave again for work before coming back home to get a few hours of sleep. He and Mr. Jin traded taking off every other Sunday or something like that. 24 years later, they have a little more free time and get to spend normal evenings at home with their families and occasionally take little vacations. But every time I visit my dad at work, I know his level of enthusiasm for his work has never waned since he first opened the business. I know this is a biased review but my dad really is passionate about his work and I'm so proud to see it reflected in the feedback on this page. My father has been going to Tech Power and gotten all our family cars and his tractor trailer fixed from Mr. Jin (the owner) for many years. We've taken in multiple cars with accidents, battery/starter problems, and maintenance and they've always done a great job. Everyone there is very helpful and always honest. A similar experience to me. I had a problem with the Check Engine Soon light. They checked my car with an electronic device, and found out that there was a transmission problem. It turned out that my car was out of transmission fluid. After filling the fluid with 2 bottles, they asked for only $15. They are really honest, fastest and trustworthy Korean mechanics. read more
