I went out for lunch and ended up losing a coolant hose on an older, modified BMW that tends to be a little prima donna-ish. I couldn't drive it to my mechanic, and knew these guys were on my way back to work. I was initially a little bent out of shape about the price, but the proprietor worked with me, got the cost down a bit, did a great job and looked around for other issues. Altogether I was really happy I used them; the leaky hose along with substandard fluids were causing a whole host of little issues, and this gentleman's insistence on doing it the right way - and then saving me $120 - was a real favour. I would recommend them to anyone, and am contemplating bringing a Porsche I foolishly bought to chase my fleeting youth there for an overhaul. Most highly recommended. There is a Turkish saying: "call the bear uncle until you reach the bridge." Well, this guy saved me from overheating on the GW bridge and having to replace a tuned BMW engine. I noticed on a recent trip back up north that my Prius front tires had excessive wear and needed new tires. This is not our frequently used car son I was puzzled by the excessive wear. Called and made an appointment with Edgewater motors and they graciously found time to replaced the two worn tires. What Edgewater identified for me was the reason for the recent excessive, unbeknownst to me, my car was struck on the right front wheel and had bended the connection of the right front wheel to the chassis causing an alignment problem and worn out the front wheels. Edgewater replaced my worn tires but showed me the real source of the problem and schedule another to repair the real issues. read more

My first experience with Edgewater Motors was overall a good experience. Only because I went along with what they were slinging. Upgraded oil change, check. Needed head gaskets replaced? Hmmm...sounds suspicious but ok, do it. That was where the good experiences ended. The experience wasn't bad, so when I needed to have the brakes done, I returned. I Had both the front and rear brakes done. This will come in later. The next time I went for an oil change, I just wanted the standard oil change. The super premium 500+ oil change really didn't do much for me. Why? 2 reasons. 1. I have a Turbo, so it burns oil (by design), this means I need to put oil in it roughly every couple thousand miles. The premium oil change uses Liquimoly. Have you ever seen it in store? Its actually rather hard to find, and when you need oil, you can't find it. So I had to order it. 2. The recommended oil by the manufacturer is Mobil 1. Which is in the standard oil change. Which is in almost every single place that sells oil. Even Wal-Mart. The owner literally argued with me for nearly 10 minutes. An argument...about what I should do with my own car...what is happening? It's an oil change.... not something detrimental to my car that would damage if not fixed...it's an oil change. Needless to say, it got heated and I decided this place wasn't for me. They did the oil change, and I didnt return. Fast forward a year and a half later. My car is sitting in the dealership (Porsche, so expensive), and they pull me aside. They bring me up under neath my car and show me two things. 1. The rotors are on backwards. Edgewater motors put the rotors on the wrong side of the car (drivers' side is on passengers' side and vice versa). Why is this so meaningful? Because the rotors have slotted vents...that don't cool the rotors properly if ON THE WRONG SIDE! If they don't cool properly, they overheat and warp. 2. They didn't install the fluid line correctly and it was kinked on the passenger's side. The tech basically said only three of the brakes were working. He said that it isn't something that happens while driving, they had to have installed it that way. If your curious, it cost nearly 1000 dollars just for them to swap the rotors onto the correct sides and fix the lines. Unfortunately, too much time has passed, and I doubt any renumeration would be possible. I should have listened to my gut instinct when it felt shady. I can however share my experience! If you have a luxury car, that requires more expertise and expensive parts, I do NOT recommend this place. If you own a Porsche, I recommend a place like Powertech. They were a bit of a drive, but I didn't feel like i was getting conned. read more

I just left Whole Foods and car wouldn't start. I didn't know what to do but I don't live far and I had ice cream so I decided to just walk home and try to figure it out at home. As I was about to cross River Rd I looked across the street to notice Edgewater Motors and it said "Batteries". I went in and asked if they could walk across to the give me a jump. Thankfully they came with me right away. I was able to get home before my ice cream melted. I went back the same day so they could check my battery. Turns out I needed a new battery. I am the type to rather pay a premium to my dealership than go to a pvt car shop because I hate feeling like I am being taken for a ride, no pun intended! However, a few weeks ago someone hit my parked car. I called a few car shops and decided to go with Edgewater motors, because right from my first call I could tell Matt, the owner was genuinely interested in ensuring I had a safe car to drive. They helped coordinate everything from insurance claim, rental to even moving and installing my son's car seat! They kept me updated on the status and were able to complete the repairs ahead of schedule. There were some other over due maintenance items like the need for new tyres that I hadn't gotten around to. All these issues were addressed Matt made sure my car left their shop as good as new and their prices were very fair. There are some transactions that you simply don't feel giddy after, like a root canal or paying taxes, and car repairs fall in that category for me. But this was a game changer. I actually walked out thrilled, because they did a fantastic job with the body repair, paint job, new wheels and the auto detailing. And their staff was friendly and professional. So here is the follow up to the very unpleasant and dishonest experience I had at Edgewater Motors. I tried to dispute the charge since I never received the tire I purchased. Unfortunately visa wouldn't allow it because the owner altered his copy of the receipt indicating that I did in fact receive the tire. They gave me a courtesy credit of $100 so I'm out $260. I'm not even going to go and claim the tire which Visa suggested I do. I'd rather lose the money than have to face that awful man who owns the garage. Lesson learned. He was nasty the minute I walked in. I should have taken that as a sign. BEWARE!!! Not one bit of truth in your response to my review. You can keep your "special" Uni-Royal tire which you charged me $360. Anywhere else the same tire goes for $190. Hadi told me it would take a bit longer and that one of his employees would drive me down the street to class while I left my car there to be serviced. We came back for this year's auto maintenance. We needed an oil change, and suspected possibly new tires. They inspected our tires and showed us where the wear was and explained tire life, how to find the manufacture date, and pointed out that the tires were cracked and well beyond their life. We had a long drive coming up, and they went out of their way to get our new tires on the truck and the other work we needed on that day, which was a busy Saturday for them. Took the car for wheels replacement and alignment. After driving the car the air pressure built up to 44 psi (35psi the recommended pressure on my car) after 1.5 mile on a local road and the pleasant day. I noticed the rims and parts of the body had these stain of grease on it. Today I noticed scratches on my right front fender and some necks, not sure what they did to cause them. This is very disappointing, I rather went there after seeing the reviews on yelp, I guess you can't trust reviews anymore. The best way is to go to a dealer or have someone you trust to recommend a reliable mechanic. If they can't even get the psi correct, I'm not sure they have the slightest idea of what they are doing. read more

Yesterday 10/4/2018, I purchased a brand new tire for $455, which was $130 more than quote from Cliffside park vendor but I'm paying the premium for the convenience of River Road. They also quoted $260 for full detailing but I went with $60 VIP cleaning instead and 2 front window tint for $190. Overall high quotes but convenience sold me. Edgewater tires kept my car for 6hours 11-5pm and when I picked it up the car no condition of addition $60 VIP cleaning and no $190 tinting job. Even a $8 car wash run through is better than this. My tire rims where black, shampooed rug?, window? Interior?? Seat?? 6hrs for what?? I complained as proper customer and the rep 'Sam' was very nice and offered discount so we decided to sign and pay - $455 for one Tire and $discount wash job. The manager or the owner asked what's wrong and I told him what IS wrong, starting with the list that I went over with Sam. He first reaction was "so what?" He told me I am RUDE for commenting and that I cannot talk to him this way, I was getting SCOLDED!!! I am NOT to question my $515 service!! It was 6hrs (No car with 2 toddlers, favor school pick up to cover me, not to mention arranging ride back and forth) for simple 30 mins job and nothing was done as promised and at the end you get upset Man telling you that you are to Be Quiet and make No comments about his service. I'm a Edgewater residence and hopefully my review will save us busy Moms around the area from this horrific experience. No Service you Purchase or a Man should talk down to you!! Take your car somewhere else! My purchased tire was great. They worked with my plan that we purchased from the Dealership. You pay enough to cover all 4 brand new tires upfront - so this is also my hard earned money!! He told me "hush" away like it's some free service!! First found this place nearby our home when we needed a quick oil changes a few years ago. Since then we did several works on our car: regular maintenance, oil change, engine light, battery, and replaced four tires and did a tune-up yesterday. Had a flat tire and took it in to get a tire change. Left my car with them for a couple of hours but after I drove out the steering wheel was making a screeching noise when I tried to turn the wheel. When I took it back I was told that the car all of a sudden had all kinds of problems including with the power steering sensor which would cost thousands to fix. When I told them that it was fine when I brought it in I was told that it was probably making that sound before and I just couldn't hear it. The guy eventually started shouting and told me to get out of his shop. I would stay as far away from this shop as possible. In update to the reply the shop posted - first of all its hard to deal with people who don't understand English properly since in my review i quite clearly stated that it was fine when i brought the car in but the shop tried to tell me that it must have been making a sound previously which it absolutely wasn't. The store had one other customer there when i went back so another lie that there were a lot of people there. Finally the mechanic didn't test drive the car - he just turned the steering wheel once and told me that he didn't know what was wrong, he first wanted to put on some grease and later the owner told me that a variety of things could be wrong including possibly the steering sensor. Everything written on this reply is a lie. I stick to my review and i would stay as far away as possible from this shop. read more
