He and his mechanic then proceeded to shake two of my wheels which shook pretty bad, telling me that it is dangerous to drive around like that and that I had to get additional things fixed. He then showed me his estimate for the job which was pretty high. Frankly, when the wheels shook like that, I panicked a little and thought about getting it repaired then and there despite the cost, but then remembered a time when another mechanic did something similar at another shop (showing me shaky wheels) which turned out to be nothing but a scam to scare naive customers into spending more money. I took the car to three other mechanics, one of them a friend of mine and just as I suspected, there was absolutely nothing wrong with the wheels. Upon closer inspection, it seemed they either loosened a bolt or two somewhere behind the wheels to shake them like that to scare the customer (me), then tightened it back again when they realized I wasn't taking the bait. The owner seemed nice enough and competent at first, but I think they take advantage of alot of customers this way, especially women and some of the Korean population here, so I would really beware of this place. I could only imagine how many other of their customers have already fallen for sneaky, underhanded stunts like this to scare them into dishing out extra money for repairs they never really needed, including some of the positive reviewers on here, unbeknownst to them. I've even heard of some shops that actually break parts that were perfectly fine going in to drum up business, so always get SECOND or THIRD opinion whenever a shop 'shows' you sudden costly repairs that you apparently need. You will end up saving hundreds and hundreds of dollars of unnecessary repairs. Also, it goes without saying, but never trust how nice or accomodating they first appear to be. All that means nothing.

They also received a well-deserved recognition from YELP this year -- I can't say enough about their attentiveness and prompt service. I brought in two vehicles to get oil changed (they do not take reservations for oil changes, it is first-come first-served), and both vehicles was done within an hour, even accommodating our tight schedule that we had planned for today! There's a slight price difference of additional $5 to $10 since last we visited; however, the prices are truly reasonable compared to nearby auto garages. I was told that the prices will go up in 2026 so if you haven't changed your oil yet, I would totally go for it before that happens! As per usual, they did more than just the oil change, they checked for pressure and brakes, as well as windshield wiper fluid and gave a once look over to see if there's anything that needs to be addressed right away. They never try to upsell anything and never felt any pressure to do any kind of service with them. What a luxury also to go into a heated lounge upstairs, prepped with Keurig style coffee, and snack and water while you wait. Definitely our family's TO-GO mechanic for sure!!

WARNING: YOU MAY GET RIPPED OFF LIKE I DID…read more One Auto charged me $533.13. for 4 days of storage and $191.92 for "towing" of my car (he drove it) about a mile to his shop. Picture attached.  On 9/21 (Saturday night), my BMW 328 was vandalized in Palisades Park. A friend (now, ex-friend), who knows the owner of One Auto, called him. He came by and said that he will take the car to his shop, which is about a mile away, for safe storage while I file a claim. He seemed nice and was pleasant.  I filed a claim with GEICO and an inspection was scheduled for Tuesday, 9/24. On Monday, 9/23, I called One Auto and asked if he had repaired BMWs before. Instead of answering my question, he asked me to sign an authorization form to begin repairs. I told him that GEICO rep has to come by and do a complete inspection. He didn't like that answer and said that my car was taking up space in his garage. I told him, GEICO inspector will be out the next day and I will pay the storage charge. After the call, I felt uneasy about One Auto owner's ability and honesty. So, I asked around friends who had had their cars repaired.  Tuesday, 9/24, morning, I decided to have my BMW repaired at K2 Auto Repair in Edgewater, NJ. I called Ashely, the GEICO inspector, who said she was OK with my moving the car to K2. She further said that she will cut a check to One Auto for the four days of storage and towing fees. I told her that One Auto didn't tow the car.  Thinking everything was sorted out, I coordinated with Eric of K2 to have my car towed to his shop. About an hour later, One Auto calls and tells me that he can not release the car until I pay him for storage and towing. I told him that GEICO inspector, who was there at the time of the call, will cut him a check. He didn't want GEICO to pay him. He wanted me to pay him. I don't know why; he refused to answer me and kept asking for payment. I spoke with the GEICO inspector and she was confused by One Auto's insistence of being paid by me instead of GEICO. However, she couldn't do anything more. By this time the Sano's towing truck arrived. I asked for a bill to be sent to me so I could pay him. He sent me the bill and I was shocked. $725.05!  Being at work, I asked a friend to go over and pay One Auto, so I could get my car out this unscrupulous person's shop. Sano's towing came by again and towed my car to K2, which is about 4.7 miles away, for $125. Based on my experience, I recommend people to avoid this shop.  TL;DR - This shop ripped me off and lied to me while acting nice and friendly. Avoid this shop unless you like overpaying and being lied to.

However, the day before my emissions light came on. Online search showed it could either be the catalytic converter or the O2 sensors. I assumed O2 sensors and told the owner. He did all the fluid changes first at reasonable prices, then hit me with the cost of changing the O2 sensors... HE SAID $500. I should have said NO but didn't since it was an emissions light. He made it seem at first like it would take hours to get the part and install. It took 20 minutes. I then looked online at what the actual cost was of the sensors and the typical cost to do it... $30 for sensors on Amazon. $100 for labor (if they did a full hour) For a 15 min job and $30 parts at $500... I GOT RIPPED OFF! But after realizing I had gotten ripped off after the job was done the most annoying part of it all was that the owner kept consistently telling me at his front desk area on 4 separate occasions that he, "always gave fair prices" and "isn't trying to scam anyone". In retrospect, the fact that he kept saying these things repeatedly to me as my car was being worked on should've been an indicator that he was shady. IF YOU CHOOSE TO USE THIS AUTO SHOP, PLEASE REMEMBER TO LOOK UP WHAT THE ACTUAL PRICES ARE OF THE PARTS YOU NEED REPAIRED ONLINE FIRST AND ALSO ASK HOW LONG THE REPAIR WILL TAKE.
