Is there less than one star? For the record I bought a2019 Subaru because of all the driving I do. After I purchased mine, at least 6-7 family and friends purchased a Subaru as well. My purchasing experience was fine service for a short time was good. Once my lemon of a car started having problems that all went out the window. I would never never ever recommend Subaru especially Liberty or Newton. I would walk the rest of my days before ever purchasing or putting another dime into any Subaru Irvin my pos Outback. Once there is a problem no one wants to know you. Doesn't matter all the business you brought them or that all your maintenance was done at top $$$ at the dealership. My 2019 Subaru barely lasted 3-4 years and that's with COVID! Nope stay away! read more

I am very disappointed with this dealership and especially with Dan Cohen (Subaru's Manager) for not answering my calls or calling me back after several attempts! Let me start from the beginning. This was my third Subaru purchase and my second from this dealership. My first was a purchase with this dealership, and the second was a lease, which is my current vehicle. I had leased a 2022 Accent for three years and purchased a maintenance plan. I assumed the maintenance was for the entire lease but was shocked to find out that it was only for twenty-four months. My fault for not checking the fine print and their shadiness for not mentioning it as I would have changed it to be for the entire lease. It started with my brakes vibrating, which was why I brought my vehicle in for service in the first place. They said they had extended the coverage for this but never sent out a recall. Not sure why Subaru wouldn't do a recall for vibrating brakes as that seems to be something to be of concern. It scared the crap out of me when it first happened. When I received my service report it listed my vibrating brakes as if I reported it as squeaking, but that was far from the truth. Not sure why they would lie about something like this unless they prefer not to report this issue to keep their numbers down. I paid $533 for the twenty-four-month coverage, which I found out was grossly overpriced. The twenty-four months should have been for four services which equate to $133 each. I would expect to save money when purchasing a maintenance plan and not overpay. I only performed two services in the first twenty four months as I didn't put that many miles on the vehicle. Thankfully they did do my oil change which was my third service call even though my maintenance expired, so I ended up paying $533 for three services which are still overpriced. They only charge $75 for an oil change and for four of them it should have only cost $300 (not $533 so I overpaid $233 for the plan). In addition, the service report showed that my engine and air conditioning filters were yellow (green for good, yellow for warning and black for bad). I called the service department and complained about this, which they said that the advisor should have told me about these filter warnings. But I assume since this was my last FREE service they chose not to (to save money since my next service will be at my expense) as I surely would have wanted them changed. I like Subaru and will most likely purchase another one down the road, but it surely won't be from this dealership. You live and learn from your mistakes, and I surely will learn from this and hopefully others will learn from it as well. read more

Awesome Liberty Subaru! This Subaru is on Kinderkamack Road and is easily accessible for repairs and checks. The staff and service boys are congenial, friendly and very helpful to customers. During the day the Subaru is busy and packed with new customers buying snow-ready vehicles and racers. At night this local Subaru, which now services all of Connecticut, New Jersey and PA, is well-lit, especially brightly during Christmas and has a very patriotic USA flag display, lit up. The lot at Liberty Subaru is large and vast. The drive-around mechanics shop in the back is a very clean and convenient place to stop and hand over keys and wait and sip coffee and watch TV inside. USE to be a fair and reputable business. No longer the case. Recent unpleasant and shady business. My car would not start about 1 1/2 month ago. I take it in for service; they now have a "comprehensive diagnostic fee of $200.00." Another made up money grab- fine. I paid it. They "couldn't replicate the issue" of the car not starting. I'm not a frequent driver of the car as I live in NYC. The first time I used the car about 5 weeks after first take in, surprise, it's not starting again. I call the dealership to explain and say I don't feel I should have to pay the diagnostic fee again given they never found the problem, nor fixed it. The man on the phone, tells me "he agrees and understands." I take it in the shop today. The men at the front desk, aggressively gang up on me, citing illogical points that this is a new diagnostic fee. I try to explain that they never fixed the problem from 1 1/2 months ago. After fighting with them and feeling I had no other options- I surrender and say I will pay the diagnostic fee AGAIN. They then tell me "they can't do the specific test needed for my car and I have to take it back another day!" I drove in from NYC for this appointment which I made 7 days prior- what a nightmare. What a wonderful business model! AVOID THEM and go to another dealership. read more

Stay away from this company! liberty Subaru in Emerson NJ is just crap, a car was purchased there and everything was fine! The service manager and the service department is junk. They refuse to actually fix anything and the funny part the car is under warranty! They are truly the worst service center for Subaru around. We had to go to Englewood and Ramsey Subaru to get anything done and both were like yes this needs to be corrected. Not only that the knowledge they provided with regards to our vehicle we never received from Emerson Subaru. I came here with a friend when she bought her Forester. If I knew of Liberty Subaru's service, I probably would've owned a Subaru instead of a Mini. I live in Queens, NY and ALL of the dealerships by me are trash (Star Subaru, Koeppel, Milea). I don't like to haggle, I just wanted a quote. The dealership that gave me the lowest quote gets my business but none of these guys wanted to AND they tried to bait and switch me. Liberty gave my friend a quote via e-mail and even sent a taxi to pick her up to get the car. I went with her thinking it was all too good to be true and to my surprise, it wasn't! Everyone treated us well there, practice social distancing, the showroom is clean, and they are NOT pushy. When I step into the Finance Officer's office, I'm expecting a pushy warranty pitch. Leaving a 1* is not something I want to do, but once you read this review you will understand. Been dealing with sales rep Brian Goon. He provided a great lease price, considering the pandemic and chip shortage. I reached out and communicated with 10 different dealerships and stopped all contact after getting a price quote from this dealership. However, if I knew what was gonna follow, I would have never done that. 1. Between the order and delivery of 3 months, not ONE phone call was received with any update. No "I got an order number * there is a new ETA * nothing. Every single information I received about the car after placing the order and paying the first month fee was me reaching out to obtain it. At least a monthly update 1 minute call would be nice, when you are spending close to $40,000.... 2. About two three weeks after the order was placed by research of my own, I found out there are multiple interior leather colors to select from. This was never mentioned before placing the order. The sales rep just assumed I will go with the standard black and never cared to ask. Once I politely informed him of the fact that I was never offered an option of different interior color, he slapped the order in my face claiming it was there. Yes, it was there... but if I am not informed about having an option to chose from, I can't chose can I? Changing the interior would reset the order and extend delivery, so with a sour taste in my mouth I let it go. 3. By coincidence, I contacted Brian randomly in January about the status of the vehicle. He responded the vehicle is in and ready for pick up. Wow. Shouldn't I be receiving a call or the vehicle being in? 4. The day of pick up arrived and I receive a call stating there is an issue running my credit information. Well that's weird, because all information was already provided when I signed the lease 3 months ago. No issues where reported when a down payment was taken either. Brian requested me to print out the form and send it back. I don't have a printer... okay, not the dealerships fault- but why do we have to playing catch up in the morning of the pick up? We had 3 months to do that and I specifically asked multiple times if we are all good. I was told the only thing left to do is picking up my vehicle and paying an $80 subscription for the remote start, which I requested. 5. Once the paperwork was signed, I received a call that the already pre-agreed upon monthly price for the leased vehicle will be increased. What? We agreed on the price 3 months ago!!! I chose this dealership because of the price quote over other ones. You are increasing my price on the day of pick up?!!! Extremely shady and never had happened to me throughout 13 years of leasing 4 different vehicles. 6. Brian was no help at all and I ended up speaking to a finance manager. He discounted around $6/month from my $30/monthly increase that suddenly appeared on the day of taking over the vehicle. Please understand a $30 increase is $360/year which comes out to $1080 during the 3 year term. That's a LOT of money!!! I was very upset and didn't like it at all. But what am I going to do? I stopped communication with every other dealer months ago and put down a non refundable deposit for this vehicle. I signed the lease contract with Liberty Subaru and extended my current lease until this vehicle arrived, so all around they got me trapped. 7. The pick up process was smooth. The finance manager threw in the $2/month remote start app fee for fee, understanding I got screwed for $1000. Nice gesture and appreciated, but as far as I am concerned, Liberty Subaru owes me a $1000. 8. Following the pick up, Brian was supposed to send me the plates for the car. Well, despite our conversation during the vehicle pick up and a two confirmation emails of the address they are supposed to be sent to, he sent them out to the incorrect address. It took me 5 phone calls and 2 hours of my time to get it rerouted with another representative. I have to mention that my tags were to expire on the 5th of the month and I wasn't contacted to pay for the tags for them to be sent out until the 8th. With the package sent to the incorrect address, I also received it with an additional day of delay. I was driving illegally for close to a week. So... overall, a nightmare of an experience due to what seems to be a subpar employee performance and customer service standard. I don't mean to throw anyone under the bus, but I also employ people and if Brian was one of my employees, he would have been gone long time ago. Needless to say, I will not be purchasing another vehicle from Liberty Subaru ever again, or at least until I get the money I lost back. You can coach and replace bad employee, but when you take money away from my family, we are done. Please look elsewhere or be very careful with your money here. read more

1) I was given an hour estimate for an oil change and tire rotation which seems reasonable. Unfortunately the entire job took 2:15. Was not provided any sort of update whatsoever. 2) I was asked multple times where my keys were even though I had given it to the valet when I arrived. Maybe the service took so long becuase they lost my keys? Who knows, there was zero communication. 3) At the time of payment I told them I wanted to take advantage of the service special they had on the website. I was told I needed to pull it up on my phone and show it to them. I think that is ridiculous. 4) Every service is supposed to come with a car wash per their website. Not only was this not performed, the work order I received at the end said it was performed. That is not only bad service it is also dishonest. Not sure what other things on that work order was just made up. Awful experience. I wrote my feedback to them and have not heard a thing. I guess Subaru doesnt care about customer experience. Had to deal with the recall issue on my 2018 Crosstrek. I had called around to several dealers in the area, and I was already frustrated by the time I got ahold of Liberty. The person I dealt with over the phone was polite, and I think my own frustrations made me think he wasn't. Needless to say, wound up booking my car for the necessary repairs for two weeks later - which, as of this review, was last weekend. The reason it took so long was that I would be in need of a loaner vehicle, due to many projects I could only accomplish on a weekend. The day of arrived, and due to my generally not-great experiences with dealership service centers, I was anticipating NOT having a loaner as previously agreed. The person I dealt with, Bryan V, was not only super nice, but also had the loaner already set aside for me. Some quick paperwork and I was out the door. I also booked an oil change and tire rotation to be done - the prices were standard, not gotchas or hidden fees. Picked up my car, all service was squared away. I leased a Crosstrek hybrid yesterday at this dealer. It's the first Subaru that I've ever had. I have to say it was a very pleasant experience contrary to all my prior car dealership encounters. Daniel Meola the sales manager and Daniel Lidestri the sales representative were friendly, very informative and patient. They took the time to calculate several financing scenarios to assist me decide what would be the best deal for me. I never felt pressured or rushed to make a decision. Dan Lidestri then recalculated everything when I decided I need some additional accessories . I'd say a solid first-time experience with the service department. I needed a part installed and was able to get a same-day appointment on a Saturday, a good start. The price ballpark given on the phone was reasonable. Once at the dealer, it was clear where to bring the car to initiate the service. I talked to a new service advisor at this point, but my info was already put into the computer and I didn't have to repeat everything all over again. The estimated wait time was, once again, reasonable. The service department was well-staffed with advisors and mechanics. OK, it's a car dealer service, so they tend to find more needs for your car. Regardless, what they suggested seemed in line, the parts and labor costs were what I would call fair, and I agreed to the service suggestions. The wait time was increased to 2 hours, but they were finished in about an hour and a half total. I was in the 'quiet' waiting area, one of two (the other has comfy chairs and a tv). Finally, I'd say the service, from the phone call, to the greeting at the car door, to the service desk, were all quite professional. Liberty Subaru impressed today. read more

We had such a great experience at this dealership.. I had been saving for a new car for about a year and when it finally came time to buy, we were told that Emerson Subaru was the place to go. I had never purchased a brand new car before and wanted my parents to help me out. I scheduled a test drive with David Finkel. I explained to him right off the bat, I was still test driving other cars and just wanted to get into a subaru to feel it out. I also didn't want to do anything without my parents there. He was GREAT. He took me on a test drive, gave me a price for the car without asking any questions about what I was looking to spend, and I was out in about half an hour. He wrote down exactly all of the fees, the price of the car and gave me a total. He asked if i wanted to take a picture of it before I left to show my mom and kept in touch without being pushy. Exactly what I wanted. I came back later that day with my mom to show her the car and talk a little further into price. He told us about the loaner fleet they have for a little cheaper than a BRAND NEW car and gave us a price on those. I followed up with him later that week and told him that I was going to go to another subaru dealership just to check out options and what they could do. We went to Nyack and they were SUPER sketchy. moving numbers around to make it look like we were getting a better deal and it just wasn't worth it. We ended up back in Emerson on Friday and signed for the car. We picked it up the following Monday. It was such a pleasure to work with David. He was honest, straight forward and really had a great knowledge about the subarus he represents. He gave me a little orientation after I bought the car to show me how everything works. He told me he was very impressed with how I handled buying the car.
