I'm giving one star because Yelp won't leave me zero.
I live an hour away and happened to be in the area this afternoon for work. Unfortunately the northeast is experiencing a nor'easter and the weather was atrocious. I'm not tot familiar with the area or the local roadways and driving conditions were bad and traffic was fast and unforgivable. While on the highway my wipers suddenly stopped working. It was very scary; given the weather conditions I suddenly had zero visibility on a major highway in an area I am unfamiliar with. I pulled over and quickly looked up my closest dodge dealer. I was so happy to find there was one 3 miles down the road! I called the customer service number to give s heads up I'd be coming only to find it was a general call center. The young lady was helpful and called the dealership for me. She returned to my call to tell me they were booked for the day and couldn't take me. Ok, I understand. But this is an emergency. She put me on hold again. While on hold Google provided me with the information that the wiper defect on my vehicle is actually a RECALL. She returned to my call to let me know that now no one in the service department was answering a call from her at customer service. She let me know that "maybe they went to lunch." She recommended maybe I go there myself and see if I could gain any headway. I figured, ok. I'll get s loaner at least. I don't live here but I'm happy to drive back to retrieve my car the following day for the sake of my safety and the safety of those driving around me. I entered the address and put my hazards on, drove in the torrential rain with my head out the window to see for the 3 miles.
Upon arriving to the deal ship I parked right in front of service and walked in. I wasn't greeted, that needs to be noted. I was barely addressed. It was immediately apparent to me that even though it had only been about 15 minutes since i was told that every employee of the service department was on lunch, the service department was full and bustling with MANY employees. When I was finally acknowledged by the portly boy behind the desk he seemed to already know exactly who I was; before I finished my explanation he immediately told me there was nothing they could do. No service, no loaner, no aid, no help. He was very rude, short, and curt with me. I implored and asked if there was anything. Explained that I'm from out of the area, an hour from home, my wipers are not working due to a factory recall that I've NEVER received a letter about, if you can't see me today, I can't get a loaner and come back? He asked if I purchased the car there, I said no, he said no loaner. I said, should I sleep here? Or stand right here at the desk all day? He said, yes, you can do whatever you'd like but we can't help. He gestures over to man 10 feet away from us and says that's the service manager. Talk to him. Said service manager looks up and makes a visual acknowledge of me but doesn't intervene. Great customer service. Was to earn the job title as manager.
Fast forward 25 minutes and I finally address service manager. He plays DUMB asks me why I'm there and what's going on, I start to explain and portly boy that condescended me earlier hurries over and says "she tried to make an appointment but I told her we were booked." I respond with, no I didn't. I'm here to get my car fixed in an emergency and your dealership isn't offering me any resolution to A FACTORY DEFAULT RECALL that just so happened to crop out 3 miles for here. What does manager do? NEVER ADDRESSES ME AGAIN. I stand there for 10 minutes expecting he will pick up the conversation with me again. HE DOESNT. The portly boy with an attitude and lack of self assurance similar to that of a self conscious, prepubescent girl, then starts to talk about me to a coworker, in front of my face. I walk over and let him know that I'll be back. He retorts, " I'm sure you will."
I spend the next hour sitting in my car outside the service department on the phone with corporate dodge. It takes me forever to get anywhere with with. They call Paramus dodge and get the same crap shoot explanation the dealership gave me. I implore, " it's a dangerous factory recall that busted in a nor'easter on a highway 1 hour from where I live, you're lucky I and no one else got hurt. I can't get a loaner at least? You'd rather I sleep in my car here tonight?" Corporate then calls around to dealerships and finally one 20 miles away agree to send s tow but at my expense and they will fix the recall and provide a loaner.
I took the risk and drive my car for 55 miles on the palisades and over Storm King mountain, with no wipers, in a nor'easter, with my head out the window, passing multiple accidents, soaking wet, terrified, alone, and with zero help from Paramus dodge or dodge corporate.
I don't even want the car now, I will NEVER buy another dodge or any of the affiliate brands EVER AGAIN. Im a young lady, what is this was your daughter? read more
