Had the Pappasito's Famous Burrito with beef and I'm not gonna bullshit anybody -- that burrito was fantastic. The beef was ridiculously tender. Like barely-needed-teeth tender. Whoever handled that meat knew exactly what the hell they were doing. Service was fast too. No sitting around wondering if my burrito had been kidnapped. Ordered it, food came out, everybody handled business. So why not 5 stars? TWENTY-FIVE FUCKING DOLLARS FOR A BURRITO. My guy. It's a burrito. I think my oh my god counter hit about 50 while we were dining here. Starting with fantastic service from the point of entering the front door all the way to leaving back out of the front door - phenomenal experience at a restaurant. Our waiter's name was Adrian and I would request him again! Phenomenal service! We started with two margaritas. Our waiter recommended me the coco colada margarita and my husband got the house on the rocks. Very good balance in alcohol and fantastic flavor. For the main course, we shared the chicken, steak, and shrimp brochette fajitas - the Pappasito's Grill. It came with each of us a plate and rice and charro beans with 3 tortillas to start. We got the steak cooked medium rare and when I tell you it was cooked better than at any steakhouse I've been to recently - absolutely PERFECT! They poured butter over the top of the skewer when presenting the food for us. The seasoning they use made the shrimp stand out and the chicken was tender and juicy. For dessert, he presented our options and we simply had to stop him after seeing the tres leches with toasted meringue on top. It indeed blew our expectations out of the water. It was creamy, but not too dense - it's my favorite dessert and this one specifically is my new favorite. Our waiter again made a suggestion for a drink with it - a Carajillo - which was an espresso martini with tequila and my husband said it was such a complementary paring and finished the meal perfectly. We got all of the above for only $93 - which I think is truly a deal. The manager checked on us and we told him Adrian was fantastic, the food was fantastic, and I am a lifelong fan! The food and drinks are consistently excellent, and several members of the staff always provide wonderful service. I especially want to recognize the manager, Top. The wait time for our party was minimum, and upon being seated it took quite awhile before someone showed up to drop off menus. Once menu's were dropped off, drink orders were taken, then our food orders. Upon looking over the extensive menu, I ended ordering the Chicken Fajita Flautas ($19.95), and the meal came with rice & beans. What can I say about the meal? My Chicken Fajita Flautas was excellent! That rolled up Chicken Fajita Flautas was loaded with meat & the queso, guacamole, & sour cream complimented the meal. The complimentary chips & salsa was also excellent! The chips were light tasting, and they were very generous with the salsa. Overall, a wonderful meal. As for service, I fould it kinda weird that they didn't bring out all the food at once for our party. Some folks got their food, while others were still waiting to get their food order. Well I guess we lost the waiter lottery on this one. Everyone had an exceptional (or average?) waiter but us. We had the waiter where the emphasis is on the Wait. We weren't in a hurry but there were some meaningful disappearances in the "show" called going to a restaurant. So much so that it likely distracted from everything else. We had a margarita. I simply can't enough of their fajitas. I live up North and every chance I can get to go to Pappasito's in Texas I do. It's been a few years and I was craving for the table side guacamole. THEY ARE NOT PROVIDING THAT AMAZING DISH TABLE SIDE ANYMORE. I did ask if we could face time with the chef while he made it. But that didn't happen. Had to wait for tortillas several minutes after the fajitas came out. We were invited here for a birthday party recently on a Saturday evening. We had reservations but they were packed and we needed to wait a few minutes so we grabbed margaritas at the bar. They were very good and there was a large drink menu. We were seated about 20 minutes later and our server Laura came shortly after. She was awesome and took good care of us. We had excellent service with Mimi this last Sunday. It was the Labor Day Weekend and they were short several servers. But she did the best she could and took care of us. Pappasito's on Lombardy is next to several other Pappa's restaurants. The atmosphere is very casual. Despite the being short, Mimi got to us as fast as she could. We ordered the Tortilla Soup with added Chicken and Avocado. It was a perfect blend of vegetables and spices with out having too much tortilla flour in it. We also split the Chicken and Beef Fajitas. We had to pay extra for the Cheese and Sour Cream but I think this is becoming the norm now. You could taste the fact that the meat was grilled on mesquite chips. The only thing that was lacking is that they did not have a very spicy habanero sauce. Mimi even brought us a single scoop of the delicious Fried Ice Cream. They have a Fajita Wednesday with reduce prices but Mimi told us that the place is packed. I would probably avoid that day despite the deal. We will definitely come back again. read more

WOW...and not in a good way, but we'll get to that later. My wife an I have been been big fans of the Pappas "family" of restraunts. Pappas Steak house - we're big fans - go there on occasion. Pappadeaux - we're big fans - it's on our regular rotation. Pappas BBQ - we're big fas - go there on occasion. So. we said to each other...let's try the Tex Mex. We were very disappointed. Let's start with this - the enviroment is comfortable and pleasant/clean. The staff - mostly attentive/trained (a little clueless on the "read the room" portion of the training). Now we get to the dissapointing portion of the review. The food was wayyyy below what we expected. Let's put it this way, on the way home, we compiled a list of Tex Mex restraunts we would prefer: Muchachos Mi Cocina Torchy's and here's the kicker...we would prefer Taco Bueno to this place! We had the ceviche - it was "gross"/gelatonous - almost like it had been stewing in a back room pot for a coulpe of days - it was very "weird" . We just had a couple of bites each before we turned it away. Next was the fajita plate, Even though we asked for a single serving (fajitas for one - my wife an I do't eat that much), we recieved this huge monstrocity of a serving. The rice was bland, the beans were tasteless. The pico de gallo that came was "old" - probably prepared 3+ days ago. The only thing we can say something nice about is the flour tortilla and the steak. Remember the "clueless" part I mentioned earlier. We were trying to work through our horrible appetizer (ceviche), when (less than two minutes after recieving our appetizer)the waiter brought out our entree (we were not happy). Now we have our chips/salsa, appetizer, drinks, and entree crammed onto our table for two (really!). Then the waiter (after seeing our "displeasure"), brought around the tortillas and asked if we wanted one...I looked at him with as much "firm politeness" as I could muster and say "no thank you". If that was not enough....we both left with a very bitter taste in our mouths! His service was exceptional, just outstanding!! The food of course, was amazing as always! The Fajitas have the best flavor, meat cooked perfect everytime we come in! The tortilla soup was again, to die for! Chips and salsa just delicious! Our over all experience was just perfect! My only complaint is....I wish I had a Pappasitos restaurant by where I live, out by Denton lol. I had heard wonderful things about the food, and within a week, I had the pleasure of dining at two different locations, trying a different entrée each time. The stuffed shrimp with crab meat was my favorite; as a seafood lover, it was some of the best shrimp I've ever tasted! The flavor was extraordinary, and I was pleasantly surprised by how delicious the meal was! It was a 10 out of 10! I plan to return just for the shrimp! Deep flavors all around. They give you a garlic butter sauce to dip the giant shrimp in. There is also quail and steak. Let that sink in. Giant prawn fajitas dunked in garlic butter next to juicy steak and a tiny little BBQ quail. Tear some of each up and put in into home made flour tortillas and cover it with guacamole and salsa? What?! That bite is UNREAL! Only thing that is kinda weak is the chips and salsa. Very thin and oily and the salsa tastes like fire grilled tomatoes as a base. Some people would kill for this. This restaurant looks very nice on the inside and out. Mexican decor done very well! We asked for a booth and we were seated in the bar area which was fine. I believe that booths are in the bar area only. Our waitress was so good and was always available for refills on salsa and chips. The salsa was superb! We were visiting family in North Texas and had a 2 1/2-hour drive to the airport before our flight home. After the long drive, we were starving, and this restaurant was close to our hotel. We figured one last Tex-Mex meal before leaving Texas sounded like the perfect way to end the trip. I'll use the "sandwich method" for this review. To start with the positive, the host was incredibly kind and graciously seated us right away after mentioning he had a cancellation. Our waitress was friendly, funny, and clearly took pride in the restaurant. When she learned it was our first visit, she enthusiastically walked us through the menu and shared her recommendations. Unfortunately, that's where things started to go downhill. She brought us chips and then informed us the restaurant was out of salsa. A Mexican restaurant out of salsa? That was surprising. She did bring us complimentary queso, which was appreciated, but it tasted like melted Velveeta with a spoonful of pico de gallo on top. She mentioned the salsa would be ready in about five minutes, but it never arrived. I also ordered a spicy margarita, but it was mostly a glass of ice with a single jalapeño slice floating in it. It wasn't spicy at all. The biggest issue, however, involved my 11-year-old daughter. She ordered the waitress's recommended watermelon mint lemonade for $8. Normally she would've taken a sip immediately, but we had to remind the staff that our drinks hadn't arrived, and by the time they did, our food was already on the table, so she started eating instead. About five minutes later, the waitress came back and asked whether my daughter had tried the drink yet. Thankfully, she hadn't. The waitress then asked if either my husband or I could taste it. My husband did and immediately realized it contained alcohol. The waitress explained that the bartender had just discovered he had made the wrong drink. She brought out a replacement, but by then my daughter was too nervous to drink it. The waitress laughed the situation off, seemingly unaware of how serious it was. My daughter became genuinely upset and kept asking if kids could die from accidentally drinking alcohol. It was heartbreaking that an 11-year-old understood the seriousness of the mistake more than the staff appeared to. To end on a positive note, the food itself was decent. It wasn't memorable, but it was good enough, and probably the best part of the meal. What disappointed me most was how the situation was handled afterward. We received no meaningful apology, no manager came by to check on us, and they didn't even offer to remove the incorrect drink from the bill or make any effort to recover from such a significant mistake. I was too exhausted from traveling to argue, but serving an alcoholic beverage to a child is a serious error. I left feeling far more disappointed by the response than by the mistake itself. read more

This is a great chain Tex mex place in my opinion. My whole table all got items off of the Combination menu which is the way to go if you want to try a little bit of everything. Everything in the Tulum was delicious, but I will say I didn't love the chicken fajita. It ended up just being a plain unseasoned slice of chicken breast in a tortilla. I had to scoop up plenty of guac and salsa to give it some flavor in each bite. But the enchilada and tamale were delicious, so much flavor and nothing overly spicy which I prefer. Ended up being two whole meals for me. My boyfriend also had no complaints about his Reynosa combination and ate it all in one sitting. The peachy sangria was sweet and not overly strong. My least favorite part was probably the free salsa that comes with the chips, a little too watered down for my taste but can't complain since it's complementary. This was Meh at best. Start to finish was just painfully mediocre. They were pushing these hatch chili entrées that still didn't have any flavor. Seven dollar draft beers aren't exactly awesome either. The beans with my entrée were fine. Just another lame chain restaurant in Texas. read more
