Pappa Geno's cheesesteak and cheese fries
    Patrick N.

Food is ok but a little overpriced. I ordered the Pappa Geno's sandwich. Their website menu shows a price for a combo, but they charged me for the cheese fries and drink at menu price. In total I spent $18.69 ($17.26 plus tax) for the meal which is simply too much money for a fast food meal. The bread was tasty, and the fries were nice and crispy, so the food was decent.

Let me start of by saying papagenos knows how to make cheese steaks! They are the best in Houston and the best I've had in the United States! I tried them out 9 years ago when they first opened up on Tc jester and Ella. I go to that location from time to time as well as the one on Eldridge. Today was my first time visiting the Pasadena location. This company has simply perfected the cheese steak! All of the locations make them to perfection! I am very happy to see them expanding! If you live or work in this area this is simply a must try! You will not be disappointed! Their cheesesteaks are so good. They come filled with meat. They give you such a huge portion for the price. I will continue to visit all of their locations! Great job once again!

These sandwiched were a bit greasy but nonetheless, good sandwiches! If you ever have a random craving for "Philly " cheesesteak sandwiches, try this place out.

I've had cheesesteak from Philly multiple times and Papa Geno's is the real deal alternative to the real thing. I have never made it to their other locations so I can't judge the consistency. This location is in a little strip center across from the college. It was empty at around 7 pm on a weekday which had me worried, but we saw a lot of to go orders as we sat there. I assume they get the college crowd during the day. Ordering was easy and the cashier was friendly. The food took awhile to come out, but you can hear them making everything to order, so no big deal there. I had not eaten since the night before so I came hungry. I saw the Fat Philly and thought I had to get that. It was the regular sandwich, but then topped with chicken tenders, mozzarella sticks, fries, gravy and cheese sauce. It's definitely a fork and knife sandwich! If I had to make a suggestion to the owners, please get better plastic ware, because it was very difficult to eat. I started off picking at the fries topped with gravy and I was blown away. That gravy was delicious. The chicken tenders and mozzarella sticks were what you would expect anywhere. The real star of the show was the steak and cheese. You can tell they use quality ingredients. The steak was seasoned well with an abundance of pepper. The bread was fresh. It's a very rich sandwich for sure. Although delicious, I will stick with a regular sandwich next time specifically for the ease of eating it. Make sure to get a side of gravy to dip your fries! Luckily I visit my fam who lives close by weekly, so I will have this as an option from time to time. I will be back!

PAPPA GENO'S. SOOO GOOOOOOD. The Philly cheesesteaks here are BY FAR my favorite in Houston. I ordered the number one Philly cheesesteak with fries, and it is so filling I cut it in half and split it between two meals. The whole meal is just perfect, I highly recommend it for anyone not counting their calories and wanting just a truly hearty meal. The restaurant wasn't too crowded when I went during lunch, I got my food to go, and it was just as good as eating it there. The foil they wrap the sandwich in keeps it perfect for quite a while.

Definitely agree with the overprice at Pappa Geno's. Why is there no chicken if you have it on your menu?!

Today, I was supposed to meet a client at Main 101 in La Porte, but renovations sent us wandering in search of Plan B. That's how we ended up at Wooden Spoon & Bakery--a place that, at first glance, promised fresh bread, pastries, and the kind of comfort food that usually comes with a side of nostalgia. I walked in thinking I'd order a salad. Then something happened. From the host who greeted us to our waitress and the rest of the staff, there was an infectious excitement about the day's special: a simple cheeseburger. No gimmicks. No towering masterpiece held together with a steak knife. Just a cheeseburger made with confidence. Their enthusiasm was enough to change my mind. Naturally, I added onion rings. If you know me, you know that's never a difficult decision. What arrived at the table was one of those rare moments that reminds you why neighborhood restaurants still matter. Five onion rings, each one the size of a small planet, wrapped in a thick, beautifully seasoned crust that was impossibly crisp. Peppery. Salty. Rich. The kind of crust that shatters with every bite before giving way to sweet, perfectly cooked onion. They weren't trying to reinvent anything. They just happened to make the best onion rings I've ever eaten. And I wasn't expecting to discover them in a small restaurant tucked away in La Porte, Texas. The cheeseburger was exactly what it should be: honest, satisfying, and the perfect companion to those unforgettable rings. What made the meal even better was the hospitality. Before we left, the manager, the chef, and several members of the staff all stopped by to make sure everything was right. It wasn't rehearsed hospitality--it felt genuine, the kind that makes you want to come back before you've even paid the bill. Sometimes the best meals aren't found in famous cities or trendy restaurants. Sometimes they're hiding in plain sight, waiting behind an ordinary storefront in a town you've driven through a hundred times. If you ever find yourself in La Porte, Texas, do yourself a favor: stop by Wooden Spoon & Bakery. Order the onion rings. You can thank me later.

She was quick with our drinks and let us look at the menu for a few more minutes. Mom had the Green Tomato BLT, the Missus had the club sammich. But enough about their meals ... I want to review my meal. Their menu lists that the burger is on a brioche bun ... check that one off of the item list. A hearty patty is also placed inside of the bun and along with it are pickles, lettuce, onion and tomato. Check and double Check. Mayo is slathered on the buns, at just the right amounts that make it taste good, but not so much that it slides the innards of the burger all over the place making the chomping experience mushy. Flavors were good, I had just hoped the patty fit the bun a little better. The ratio was a bit more bun sided than oatty sided. My fries, crinkle cut, were seasoned well. Well enough that no ketchup was needed to dip them into for additional flavor. I would have liked a bit more crispiness from a double fry, but these were toothy enough to get a decent mouth feel. The meal for the three of is was about 47.00, so inflation has also hit my hometown dining places as bad as they have hit my current home near The Woodlands. Will i return to eat there the next time I visit Mom? If she wants to go, then yes, yes I would. I would also hit it alone just for their chicken fried steak or chicken. Ciao, Darrell
