I was in the area and had time to kill and knew I needed a pedicure and when I Yelp'd at places nearby, this place had some good reviews so decided to give it a try and did a walk in. I got seated almost immediately. The lady that worked on my toes offered to do a callus removal which I agreed on (only to find out after that she did a horrible job and my feet feel all scratchy after I left the salon). Additionally, my big toe nails were clipped crooked. She also did not listen to the color I wanted which was "Funny Bunny", she continued to paint my toes with a color I said I didn't want because it was almost a clear white and she kept insisting on putting multiple coats to fix it which I said I didn't want. I left with uneven toe nails and color that doesn't cover most of my toe nails! I paid $68 for the pedi and tipped $10. Worse pedicure of my life and it was stressful. What a waste of time and money. Do not recommend and absolutely never coming back. read more

I've always enjoyed coming to this place, and it's been a while. I only needed a color change on my hands, and got a signature pedicure. At first I was concerned because I asked them to turn the temperature of the water down and they ignored me... and then accidentally turned it up so I had to say OW. Luckily, the pedicure redeemed itself. The lady painting my nails on my hands did not let me use the massage function of the chair because she was worried about not painting my nails well. Which, I never heard of but it's fine.... Then I look at my nails after leaving and this is a terrible nail painting job on the hands! The polish doesn't even color my entire nail. read more

I've come here multiple times over the years. And it's typically been fine. But today, I left pretty unhappy. I had builders gel put on at my last appt, asked for it to be removed and a basic manicure today, but it doesn't look like they completely removed the gel before completing the rest of my manicure. There was stuff in between my nail and the gel from last time, so they tried to remove it and clipped some off so they could get it out. And then sanded and buffed again before putting the new polish on. But it's sloppy and bumpy and bubbling in places on my fingers. I asked as I left if they were not able to remove all gel for some reason and she just said sorry and offered me 10% off my next visit. I won't be back. Edited to add- last time was my first time doing builders gel like that, so I don't know what removal should look like, but this can't be right (see pics with polish removed, less than 30 min after my appt because I couldn't very well leave them like that) and my nails were even filed well of this was a regular manicure. read more

Kent always does such a good job. He always takes his time to get my nails exactly how I want them. I know it's not easy to do extra short stiletto gel x on my nails because I have longer nail beds, but he always takes the time to cut the sides so they fit just right. I'm giving Papillon Lounge & Nails in Brea a solid 5 stars. As a guy, I know manicures and pedicures aren't always marketed toward us, and since 99% of these reviews seem to be from women, I'm hoping this helps some other guys feel comfortable coming in too. I've visited for both a pedicure and a manicure on separate occasions, and both times were amazing. The pedicure is incredibly refreshing. They even helped me out with an ingrown toenail that had been bothering me; it's healed up perfectly now. The staff has always been super friendly and considerate throughout the process. The only small quirk is that they sometimes perform manicures at the pedicure stations. When my wife and I went recently for just a manicure, we were seated in the pedicure chairs instead of at a standard table. It can feel a bit awkward with the angles, but it doesn't necessarily take away from the quality of the service, it's just an interesting choice. I really love the various packages they offer; it's always a relaxing time. Parking is also a huge plus here. The lot is quite ample, so I've never had an issue finding a spot quickly. Love this place for a couple different reasons: they are mindful of your time- if you book an appointment, they never make you wait more than 5 minutes to get started. Appointments are easy- either made online or by phone. They have comfortable seats and a HUGE silenced tv with something interesting always playing which keeps me entertained while getting my nails done. Shayla is the one for all your nail design ideas. If you have a nail art dream- she is eager to get the job done and does excellent. She walks through the design with you and never makes you feel like you're an inconvenience. She has always been so sweet and makes you feel comfortable about asking for what you want. She is in tune with your reactions and will adjust if necessary. My first time here. I got a gel x manicure with Hannah and a gel pedicure with Mimi. The lady who helped check me in was friendly. Spa chairs were comfortable. I was able to show my inspiration photos and Hannah was perfect to help choose a color and add a design. Mimi did a great job taking care of my toes and was gentle with my feet when scrubbing, moisturizing and massaging. I got the signature pedicure which came with hot towels. I even got a 10 min chair massage. It was absolutely heaven! I love how my nails & toes came out and I can't wait to see the whole picture come together tomorrow with my dress, makeup & hair! I have been searching for an amazing Nail Salon after trying so many average ones and this one is VIRAL WORTHY!!! I called in 30mins before my appointment and they were able to take me in. It was nearly packed at 3:30pm on a Friday. Charlie welcomed me and is one of the most chillest Nail Techs I've ever met!!! My appoinment went by so quick because Charlie is great at making conversation! I had a few designs in mind, but decided to go with white pearl ombre due to time constraint. I trusted Charlie's artistic guidance and HE. DID. NOT. DISAPPOINT. Tiem, did my toes and she is a true perfectionist! I would not go to this place! Very unprofessional! Tracy did my nails with acrylic (a fill). The acrylic chipped after 2 days. She fixed the three nails a few days later. I even gave her a $15 tip for her time which I did not have to do. . I made an appointment to have a new full set done a couple weeks later. An hour before my appointment they called to tell me Tracy was double booked. So I booked for the next day at 11 but I never got the confirmation. I called at 10:30 and they said "oh sorry Tracy has an emergency today". That's very unprofessional. I understand if Tracy did not want to do my nails even though I was very nice about the situation (bad acrylic). She should have just said so. I'll never go back to this place! Bad products, bad service and not very nice people. There are nail shops everywhere! I will find a better one. read more

My nail tech for years stopped doing nails and I didn't know if I could find someone who could replace him. Luckily for me I found Nikki, and she always does a great job. I always have such a great experience here. I usually get a gel x manicure with some sort of minimal design. Recently I got one and left satisfied, but a few days later I noticed the design was failing (and I needed pristine nails for a wedding).they were able to squeeze me in on same day notice and completely rework my manicure by removing the original design, recolor, and adding chrome finish so that it was still special enough for the wedding, all under 1 hour and completely free. I wanted gel x done with fun designs, as I was going to a Cabo wedding and the gal I got was able to do everything within 1 hour and my nails were perfect and thin when she was done! A lot of nail salons I've been to have done gel x wayyy too thick. I forgot her name, but she knew what she was doing. I told her my cuticles are sensitive, so please be careful and she took the time to listen and was very polite and personable with me. I was recommended by the gals who work at my favorite jewelry store, Happy Jeweler's. :) The girls at Happy Jeweler's often model jewelry with nails done here at Papillon and they look amazing every time! I'm quite disappointed. I used to come here a lot some years ago and I remember the quality and service was amazing. I ended up switching to another location that I've been to more consistent with due to their proximity. Unfortunately, the other location gets booked fast and I needed a gel x mani to revamp my nails. I came here based on previous experience. I regret it and I'm embarrassed what my nail place may say when they have to undo someone else's mess. Definitely putting this place on Don't Return. I was assigned to Shayla and I'm not sure if that's who ended up doing my service. I sit down, pick my color, and tell them my shape. I always request short nails. She made an odd face and responded with "...okay. Short nails then. What if I said no?" And I responded with "I would still request you to do short nails." She smiled and went to gather her items. Vibes off already. She began to remove my old set and commented that were in good shape and I said yes, but I needed to do a neutral color due to some work meetings I had coming up and the bright red may not appeal well. She continued to remove them and I entertained myself with watching an episode of British Bake Off. The work continued for about 20 min and I noticed the glue wasn't entirely off. She did notice I noticed it and said it was fine. She continued to do the work and got the gel x nails prepped. I noticed she was definitely rushing through the job and already prepared myself that it wasn't going to be the best quality. Then it came to placing the nails and starting with her glue. She put clumps of the glue on the nails and cleaned excess glue as she was going from nail to nail. It's not unusual but it's also not great. About an hour and 15 min later, she finished. Like I said they weren't great but passable for what i needed. I paid, gave a tip, and left. Later, I notice the nails aren't looking too great and I look at my thumb and I am shocked. She put so much glue on there that's it thickness is indistinguishable to the actual gel x nail. She left the nails way too long under the gel x nails as well leaving a weird gap between the nail bed and gel x nails. Not great at all and I take responsibility for not waiting for my other location. Gel x nails is one of the sets that can't be rushed so if the assigned manicurist didn't want to do the job right due to time, they should've never accepted the appointment. read more

I came here with my friend to get our gel/gel x nails removed (and no manicure, we just wanted to go back to our natural nails). We were seated pretty quickly after our appointment, and the salon around us was clean and professional. Unfortunately, my nail tech didn't leave the acetone on long enough and there was a lot of gel polish left on my nails (I had 3D nails on a couple of my fingers and there were huge chunks of the polish left over). I told the nail tech, but she said it was gel residue and left me. Thankfully, my friend's nail tech looked at my hand and immediately knew it was polish that still needed to be removed, so she fixed it for me. She even put a nail strengthening coat on my fingers after she finished and apologized for the first mishap. I can't speak to the quality of the nails since we didn't get our nails done, but I will say that I appreciated the staff working to fix my situation and it was a good price.
