We went to Papa's Tapa's tonight and had a great time. We did tapas rather than ordering from the main menu and it was great! Delicious mushrooms, croquettes and Serrano ham. Desserts were phenomenal. Sooo this would have been 5 stars except, when it came time to pay, it took forever to get the bill and even longer for someone to come and take the credit cards. Since what appeared to be the manager, seemed to be wandering around doing nothing much, this was particularly annoying. Getting paid would, you would think, be something the restaurant would want to happen so having to hang about till someone decided they could pay attention to us was particularly annoying. There was a large party there but, really, they need to figure out a way to deal with the patrons who have their credit cards at the ready! We will give the one more chance but if we can't get someone take care of us next time, that's the end of it. read more

This place is AMAZING! I will admit that when we first arrived, I was a bit skeptical. It is located in sort of a strip mall and is a little small on the inside. However, once you get in, the people and the restaurant are so inviting. I was in the mood for paella on a 24-hour stay in West Palm Beach. This place was No. 1 on a list of top five places to get paella near West Palm Beach. It did NOT disappoint! We ordered it about 30 min before we arrived and they took my credit card number to order the paella in advance, which is totally understandable. The Paella Valencia (traditional paella) is $24/pp with a 2-person minimum. For an extra $2/pp you can get an order with lobster tail. We got the one with lobster tail and OMG was it delicious! I've had paella from Spain and this is some of the best I've had in the states. The service here is EXCEPTIONAL! Drinks were kept full, bread basket (which is REALLY good) was always refilled. Staff is very friendly and accommodating. Our waiter got us to try the tapas special which was a grouper wrapped in bacon and grilled with bbq sauce. That was phenomenal! The manager and the chef each came and spoke to us about our meal to which we had nothing but positive things to say. Yelpers, what are you talking about?? This is the worst tapas restaurant I have ever been to. I really can't believe that any of the raters have ever had real tapas or perhaps they are paid reviews? I went with my parents and we had the papas potatoes which were awful. The clams were NOT fresh. The bacaditos were ok. Honestly, even dessert was bad and that's hard to do. We dined at Papa's last week and were fairly happy with our meal. I got the Salmon and Shrimp in the Verde Sauce. I liked the seafood a lot, but found the sauce to be a little on the unintersting side. We also ordered the olive appetizer (which was excellent) as well as the garbanzo beans (which were also excellent). The service was very attentive and we were in and out fairly quickly. The group was happy with their meals overall. I think we would likely go back. read more

Garlic overload. Our first 3 tapas(which were server recommended ) killed our tastebuds. Too much garlic & almost tasted burnt. Wish I could enjoy the others after...but took too long for anything to come out including beverages. We weren't in any hurry but went too long without beers/sangria to make up for food. The first time we came it was AWSOME and the last 3 times we came it wasn't so great. Service is terrible. There is a waitress here that is so UNFRIENDLY. We were being seated and as soon as the hostess was bringing us to our table she stopped us dead in our tracks before we could sit asked if we had a reservation and we said no and she just walked away. I thought that was strange, she was our waitress the last time we were here and she was rude that day as well. read more

What a great place for seafood and tapas. Service is great. We had a party of six and our table was waiting for us. The waiter made some great recommendations. Sangria was good too. We had a very relaxing dinner and never felt rushed. I loved the fried calamari and Brussels sprouts with honey. My husband really enjoyed the mussels. Surprisingly great experience. With no reservation and a walk in during peak period with every table filled (inside and outside) I waited 10 minutes. Sat at the bar, tried white sangria for the first time and ordered 3 tapas. The seafood tapas was terrific along with calamari and a Spanish omelet. Really, really enjoyed the food, drink and ambiance. I am an "eat to live person" vs "live to eat". Was just looking for a quick meal with something different than the typical burger / Americana venue. Unfortunately, we were disappointed. Had 6:45 PM reservations and were greeted and shown to a table quickly. Menus presented and drinks offered. so far so good. Then the food came. Chimichurri Steak, not tender and overcooked. Zarzuela, a seafood assortment that came with clams not cooked, (never opened) a 4 oz lobster tail that looked small and overcooked. Salmon and shrimp entree satisfactory,(just not great). The side dishes including black beans came 2 minutes after entrees and rice 5 minutes later. Had asked for a side sauce and had to remind waitress. When it finally came out, she explained it has to be made special, Not true! Waitress came back only after table runner brought back new clams and at the end to offer dessert/ beverage. So many other restaurants to visit. read more

I had a wonderful lunch today! Great service from the beginning as the staff was kind to ask the kitchen after the lunch period to serve lunch. The chicken manigua caught my eye. The dish was flavorful! The chicken breast was tender and juicy. The pisto sauce to accompany the chicken was fresh and delicious. Even the seasoning and spices for the yellow rice and black beans were vibrant. I'm a big fan of Spanish cuisine and they nailed the flavors. I enjoyed each item individually and the burst of flavors when combined in various ways. I was full and wanted to keep eating away. I look forward to tasting my leftovers. My wife ordered the fiesta wrap with fish and plantains and it was excellent and by itself it would be 5 stars.However I had the Cuban sandwich and it was very average. Another complaint is that the food came out really slow. We were there at 3 on a Friday and they were pretty busy so I don't know if they maybe just didn't have enough cooks at that time, but plan on waiting on your food. read more

Simply outstanding, fantastic in every way! Best meal we've had in Delray Beach. It's a few blocks off the main dining area, but definitely worth the little extra effort to find. The menu has options for everyone with many creative choices. Everything we had was exceptional. The food and drink were first-rate and a terrific value. Serving sizes were generous. The Tabla de Madrid is a perfect starter (almost a meal in itself with a glass of wine/sangria). The warm garbanzo bean and green pea tapas were both tasty and nicely spiced. We would have loved to have tried more, but were full from what we ordered and they packaged our leftovers (with a flan and piece of Tres Leches cake) to take back to our hotel for later. The wait staff was extremely welcoming, made helpful suggestions, and was perfectly attentive without being overbearing. We felt like we were visiting a family's home for dinner in Barcelona. We really couldn't have asked for a nicer evening (ate outside on a beautiful Florida night). We'll definitely go back. Highly recommended, can't go wrong. read more
