I walked into papa's raw bar for the first time yesterday on my lunch break. I was craving sushi so I searched for the nearest sushi spot. It was between papas and 2 others and the 4.5 stars reeled me in along side the $5 off sushi special and $5 draft beers. Walked in on the perfect day it seems! I got offered a free dish and beer on the house in exchange for participating in a promotional photo shoot. I agreed and I'm so glad I did. The lobster bites were Effing delicious and their house IPA I believe it's called the IRIE was flavorful and the right amount of hoppy for my pallet. I also ordered 2 sushi rolls, the California roll and the Rod Troy roll or troy rod roll idk something of that nature, very fresh and exactly what I was hoping for. The food was great and the service was just as good. Overall great experience. Definitely coming back. read more

Best mom and papa place in Broward! I absolutely love the vibes each and every time​ I enter the restaurant​​t. Everyone​ is always smiling, working hard and this is one of the few eateries it looks like the works actually like their job! This is my happy place during stone crab season. They crack them for you and the house-made​ mustardy​ sauce served with the claws is simply divine! I really like the rotating live bands PRB showcases. Usually some reggae here, country there and contemporary​ every now and then. This is also one of the few places that you could have a date night and despite the relaxed and beachlike atmosphere, the decor is pretty nice! We came here on the recommendation of Fiancé's new barber. I was skeptical for sure, as I grew up on the water eating fresh catch. This is a casual restaurant and the staff is very friendly and helpful. The waitress told us they have their own boats that go out and catch the fish they serve. We started with a couple of beers and wahoo bites. There were probably around 10 pieces of deep fried wahoo, dressed in eel sauce and spicy mayo. Delicious. We ordered 2 sushi rolls (Tabo wabo and Yom Kippur) along with 2 tacos with the fresh catch (mahi). The sushi rolls were big and came with 9 thick pieces. The tacos were simple but savory. They use corn tortillas that are fried on the flattop for the perfect crispness. We also ordered the veggie fried rice because I love fried rice and was curious about a fish place that serves it. Well, it was delicious. Fiancé said it was the best fried rice he has had at a restaurant. The portion is big enough to share, or eat on your own. We had a great time and will definitely be back-- every day they have specials, and $10 classic sushi rolls during their happy hour (which starts at 6!). read more

I haven't been to papas in a while even though it was very good but a distance thing.. but tonight we were very lucky to have our hoa set up with papas to preorder and delivery today.. first we probably drove Troy crazy but we had crab cakes, awesome , fantastic smoke fish dip, big tasty shrimp burger (my daughter says best she has had).. and I got fresh hog fish I blackened.. so fresh and delicious .. and to top it off fresh beer!! When we travel it's all about the food. Husband just loves to eat and loves local restaurants. We found this on our trip to Fort Lauderdale and we were pleasantly surprised. It doesn't look like much from the outside but don't let that stop you. The food is great. Service was really good. Our waiter took his time with us as first time visitors and explained the menu and answered all our questions. We had a one year old with us and they delivered a cheese quesadilla and French fries quickly to feed this hungry young man. Table ordered ceviche and it was just right. Nicely seasoned. Not too heavy on lime juice. Vegetables were crunchy. Then came grilled scallops with broccoli. They were big scallops and broccoli was fresh. Both very good. Then came Sushi! Mandy's Sex on the grass (oh Mandy). You know you just sang that. Shrimp Tempura, Avocado, Asparagus topped with Wahoo sesame seeds and Bomb sauce. Ask about the different heat levels for the bomb sauces. First let me start off by saying I'm from Texas and there's a drought of oysters. We cannot find them ANYWHERE. So when we found out this place had an OYSTER HAPPY HOUR (open-6pm) we were excited!! They're $1 per oyster and they're so yummy. I will be back just based off of this!! They continued to wow us with every meal they brought out. I got Peruvian ceviche which was like nothing I've ever had! Very flavorful and delicious. My fiancé got shrimp tacos and couldn't stop talking about them. For dessert we had the chonga which is a banana cheesecake? Not exactly sure but it was also great. Everything is fairly priced here EXCEPT we got lobster bites and they ended up being $30 on its own... not worth it bc it really just reminded me of popcorn shrimp. But other than that everything else was worth it!! They even offer a rewards system! Come check them out!! They have 3 kitchens, serve sushi as well, AND have live music on some days. Very cool spot. Local place to hang out. Food was great just a bit pricey. Wife & I came on a Sunday happy hour. Drink were tasty but they came in a plastic cup. We had the bread which was awesome! Definitely have it if you stop in. Kim's edamame was good too. But the shrimp burger was huge! Never had one and was impressed. Dive bar feel with above high pricing. Papas Raw Bar in Pampano is known for its delicious, fresh seafood and it did not let us down! We had to start with a dozen oysters. Meaty. Raw. Fresh. If you like oysters, that's how you want em. The sushi was excellent. Moving from NYC a few years back, we struggle finding good sushi that we legit love and doesn't kill our bank. Unfortunately, Papas falls into that trap. We love it but it is pricey. Worth the splurge here and there for the flavors. If you love fresh seafood, you'll notice the difference. In terms of ambiance, the place is tiny, and typically jam packed. We liked the vibe though. It has neighborhood staple appeal, often showcasing live music at night. Service was great. Best raw oysters ever!!!! I used to live down the street and would constantly hit up the happy hour (everyday until 6pm). If you like raw oysters you gotta give them a try!! So delicate and fresh... not fishy at all. The idea of oysters used to gross me out until I had a good one and these certainly take the cake. $1 oysters during happy hour so worth it!!! Great food! Started with conch fritters that were absolutely delicious. Jackie, our waitress, suggested that fried rich, which we had with shrimp. Perfect, I had a shrimp po boy and my friend had a grouper sandwich. We were both delighted. What takes it over the top was the fact that our waitress, Jackie, got the wine exactly right. I ended up having to hide half of them under a napkin because the waitress said didnt you love our oysters their the best in the area... and I looked at my wife and nearly busted out laughing. The food was average or below. While the staff was charismatic and friendly, and the bill was around $50 for 2 with a $12/dozen oysters as well, I wouldn't go back. Perhaps they are better for beers and sports but not for oysters or food. Parking was easy here, but for price vs value and quality I think this place falls super short. read more

The vibes are so chill and laid back! The staff is friendly (Bianca you are the best!) The food was phenomenal. I ordered the fried rice and steak with shrimp. The steak was tender and flavorful and the shrimp was super fresh. The Panko wahoo bites were tasty and crunchy with a sauce on the side that was delicious too. We ordered a roll (I forgot the name I'm sorry!) but it was rolled perfect with the tastiest ingredients. The live music was cool. The guy was having a great time, and had quite a buzz, but played some of our faves for sure. We chatted after and you can tell he enjoys what he does and it shows. For starters we had the fried salmon roll was absolutely amazing , shrimp tempura thee best I've had...honestly such a simple roll but it was goooodddd, crab ragoon came with 4..and They were good but no actual crab meat was visible probrably wont get it again. We had the fried rice...one with chicken & shrimp and another with just shrimp and this was also very good hibachi...and I know hibachi! The chips relentless oysters...OMG took the complete table..they were HUGE and flavorful you could feel it taking over your body! It came with 6 oysters and the shrimp they were topped with were jumbo would definitely recommend. The changa cheesecake was good...but could do without the ice cream Valet was superb excellent customer service coming and going...when I was looking for tip money he told me "not to worry...we were family :) " luckily I was able to find a few bucks. Staff was patient, polite and moved quick. Only cons...I wish it was a little bigger in the bar area...can get crowded. Had a great dinner there last night for my husband's birthday. He had a whole fried yellowtail snapper and it was fresh off the boat!! Cooked perfectly! I had the black grouper cooked blackened. Nice size piece of fish which included one side dish. My only complaint would be the limited choice of side dishes. Wish they had a baked potato as an option. We also had the fried calamari appetizer served with a sweet chili sauce. The portion was on the smaller side but it was delicious. Our waiter was very knowledgeable, friendly and efficient. He even brought a piece of key lime pie on the house for my husbands birthday! All the staff there are friendly and have a great attitude. Best place for seafood in south FL that I've found so far! The atmosphere is relaxing and beachy. Food is excellent and the staff are very down to earth! I love sitting at the outside bar, sometimes they have a live singer/guitarist. The last time I ate at Papas I was craving stone crabs (thankfully it was season) and the bartender told me I was in luck because the boat just came in from Bimini that day! How awesome is that?! I have been consistently hearing about this place for awhile now so I had to try. We went on a Friday night but I was smart to book reservations on the way out the door because when we got there the biggest disappointment was we had to park across the street at the hockey arena. Not an ideal start to this adventure. We must have circles the lot 5 times before we gave up, so do what you will with the information. Lol We got sat right away once we crossed Federal Highway to get back to the plaza we needed to be at. After looking at the menu, I grabbed some oysters and a Volcano Roll. I think my only gripe was the pricing- the prices are moderate but honestly for the amount of food, it was a little too much for me, especially because I didn't eat anything that completely blew me away. My husbands order didn't even come with sides. The fish dip was relatively small so of course we were a little sad to see such small plates for the price we were paying. read more
