This was a nice experience but quite busy on a weekend morning (to be expected). The espresso is great on its own, east coast better than the west coast blend which is very acidic. I like how they give you a free drink if you buy a bag of beans! Makes the beans very competitively priced for the quality. The coffee was ok . Considering that all city is open and all covid restrictions have been taken down I don't understand their bathrooms being still closed . The staff is not wearing masks which means they definitely not afraid of it anymore they just don't want their customers to use it . I usually get an iced macchiato everywhere I go. I spend $7 on a 2-inch tall hot shot of espresso. Approached the barista to kindly double-check that this was for sure a macchiato and not a mistake. She acted like she heard that all the time, didn't care to make sure I was happy with my order, said "Yeah you're probably used to Starbucks. That's how we do it here." I was neutral about it, but it would've been nice to be offered something else since I clearly spent almost $10 on a nasty little shot of espresso. Just.. no. Overrated. Having been to Panther Coffee, I was reluctant to make another visit ( at least at this location). Last time I came it was mediocre at best for the $14 tab I incurred. This time, however, was a much more pleasant experience. Probably wouldn't consider myself wowed by Panther but it's definitely a reasonable place to get coffee here in the grove. I got an east coast espresso as per the recommendation from the barista and to accompany, I got an almond croissant. The almond croissant was delicious! It just hit the spot. And although I've had an espresso I've enjoyed more, this one was good too. It comes with carbonated water to cleanse your palette. All of this came for about $8.50, which was a much more understandable tab. I wouldn't recommend it for groups or even a small gathering of friends, as the seating situation was uncomfortable. The tables are very low and if you aren't sitting at the bar, I also wouldn't recommend trying to study there. It is definitely not one of those coffeehouse settings. When I walked in, most seats were taken so I sat with uncomfortably low tables where you need to bend over to enjoy your treats. The baristas were nice, nothing overly helpful or under attentive. Just average service. Probably would not come if I didn't work in the area but it's an okay choice for coffee in the area. You aren't getting bad quality. I believe the parking situation is street parking and depending on the time of day it is relatively available. read more

Geez there were so many options and I was having trouble deciding. Being the noob the I am with coffee, I am fortunate they were knowledgeable in providing me recommendation. They have numerous type of beans and brewing methods. Whether french press, chemex,or vacuum pot they have what can suit your taste buds. All have different purposes and they will certainly take the time to let you know what each of them does. There are hardly any tables here, just some bar stools. Plenty of outlets though. It feels more like a place to enjoy your coffee and catch up with others. read more

I do love it here. BUT, every time I come before 9am, they are already sold out of croissants!!! If this happens on a regular basis (especially on the weekends), don't think you should make your pastry order a little larger. It is so disappointing as a customer when you are constantly sold out early on a Saturday morning. Please consider adding extra pastry inventory so customers are constantly disappointed. I am visiting from San Francisco. I know specialty coffee. This place is on par with Blue Bottle, Verve, Temple, Stumptown. Coffee is a 5. Went 3 times first time my mocha with a 1 dollar tip was 9.00, drip coffee was almost 5 dollars. I understand the storefront for a smaller business must have very high overhead so I figured that's where the VERY high prices play a factor. Coffee in Berkeley and Beverly Hills is not this high. But the average review came down to service. All three times the service was in lacking any emotion- not happy, not mad, not kind, really un-emotive. Is that their schtick? Am I missing something being from California that baristas should be robotic so you can focus on the coffee? I didn't get it. read more

A cave for broke millennials to hide from the wealthy folks of Coconut Grove. First, a reminder: The goal of this blog is to stick to what's true of me, my routines, my knowledge, not to write histories of shops or about food I don't actually make. I won't ever look something up; it's all about vibes and impressions, and above all, enjoyable food and really good coffee. All of this to say: I get the impression this place has been around and is a staple in the community. A friend's former shop served their beans, I've skipped the stop upon seeing a line on a packed Wynwood day, and did I mention there are seven of them? Still, going in a skeptic of the quality, having tried only some dark and stale beans, I found very little wrong with this place. * Atmosphere: Dark and cavernous, with a yellow/orange quality to lighting, which is not my vibe but have a look for yourself. The wood panel aesthetic I found nice, but I didn't love the generally not clean looking windows. While they have nice speakers mounted, music was playing from a large UE boom speaker. It didn't do too bad though, as obscure and lowkey dance music filled the room pretty well. * Experience: Greeted with an extensive menu describing their single origin offerings, I was able to stare blankly as usual until I came to my senses and impulsively chose a safe option. Staff knowledgeability seemed slightly below average, just people trained to measure and make specialty coffee. And there's nothing wrong with that! * Drink impressions: Guatemala Pourover--about an 7/10 as far as Guatemala pourovers go, that likely being because their 1:10 brewing ratio, which quite obviously I found stronger than my usual 1:14. Very enjoyable, I took it with me. Espresso based drinks? --Not a worry. My non-coffee-enthusiast friend (who had a cookie crumble frap just that morning) described the Bolivia shot as strong, while the Brazil was more 'suave.' * Try Panther the next time you find yourself in any corner of the Miami Beach area for a solid variety of good coffee. A staple in the Grove. Customer service is always great - they check on you to make sure you enjoyed your drink and if you're into coffee, they will discuss each roast thoroughly with you! I have had pretty much everything - from the cold brew, to the espresso flight, to the teas. Everything is high-quality and can easily be customized. It is a little pricier than coffee you may find in Little Havana, but the quality and cleanliness of the establishment make it worth-while. I love supporting small businesses and this one definitely deserves it. read more

The iced espresso plus milk was $8+tip for a medium 12oz. For that price, I expected an awesome drink with full bodied flavor. What I received was watery and un-enjoyable. I ended up going to star bucks for a better quality drink which is sad considering it's a chain. I also witnessed the barista dump out a good portion of my drink when she was trying to chisel out the ice to put in the cup. What a waste of money. Do not recommend. read more

A choice between simple and complex. While walking around Coconut Grove, I stumbled upon Panther Coffee. This coffee shop is not very big, and the seating arrangement is not very typical but it offers a nice atmosphere where you can sit down and enjoy a cup of coffee. At the time of ordering you will stumble upon two methods of ordering, the first which is the simple one is to just select your desired preparation. The second method of ordering is a bit more complex. In the second one you get a choice of 5 different brewing methods and around 6 different bean origins. The simple method feels safe, easy, but it does have a drawback. Overwhelmed by the choices, I decided to order a cappuccino.... to my surprise I just could not enjoy this coffee as the beans/roast that were used were too acidic for my liking. Hence if you are feeling a bit more risky, the complex method will allow you to explore and learn, while at the same time it will allow you to pinpoint your perfect cup of coffee. Overall, Panther Coffee is a good source for your caffeine needs. read more

Panthers and coffee... don't ask me, but it works! I'm a fan of their Cortado and recently tried their Nitro White cold brew, straight from the tap--loved it! Their passion and knowledge of coffee is clear, and just makes me enjoy it so much more. This particular location is my favorite. The employees are down to earth and make coffee drinking an enjoyable experience. About a month ago, I came here with some friends on a Saturday afternoon for the free coffee tasting (or cupping). There wasn't a huge crowd, which was great, and the barista was incredibly knowledgeable on the coffee origins as well as the different brewing techniques. We learned a lot! The pastry selection is also pretty sweet--no pun intended--and love that they sell the mini cupcakes! I've tried their empanadas and was really impressed. The spinach empanadas have a creamy and delicious filling. As for working space, I probably wouldn't recommend it because there are no high tables for the bench along the wall. There is counter space facing the storefront, but with few chairs it's a risk you'd have to take. Overall, it is a great place to come in, order your coffee, chill for a bit or take it to-go. read more
