It's how I discovered Chi Chi's bakeshop - fantastic baked goods - a cool thrift shop, and also an awesome film photo booth vendor. I will dream of the tequenos regularly, in addition to their other grab and go snacks. The coffee they use is from a local roaster, Perla Coffee, and quite delicious. The best tip I could give, besides visiting them and enjoying a killer cup of coffee, is to follow them on Instagram. That's where they post their events, pop-ups, and seasonal / limited time menu items. Parking is easy - you can park in the funeral home across the street no problem. This spot is also women-owned, making it a perfect place to add to your rotation to celebrate Women's History Month and support women-owned businesses. This location also houses Ocho Placas Tattoo shop, a gallery, and film lab. The concept is awesome, and I can't wait to visit again.

The cafe is on my walking route so in the last week I have visited twice. The first time I opted for a cappuccino which was delish. I popped in the next time for an iced matcha and propped up my laptop for a solid 4 hours of working. I got so much work done in that time, and will definitely be back to get out of my WFH routine. The matcha was great, I added vanilla and opted to order with oat milk. The owner was nice and offered me a spicy beef empanada when she saw I hung around for a while. I haven't eaten any of the menu items but it looks like they have solid cafe fare like sandwiches, salads, and of course pastries. Can't wait to go back!

The coffee was incredible, the food was perfection, and the staff were unbelievably kind and welcoming. Everything tasted so fresh and flavorful. It honestly felt like it had been grown in someone's backyard garden. I had the tuna salad with seven-minute eggs (amazing), and my son got the breakfast sandwich... which my husband claimed he didn't want until he took one bite and immediately wanted to come back before we flew home. On our second visit, they had sold out of the brioche bun for the sandwich and we were so disappointed but one of the staff members (owner, manager, or actual angel) overheard me talking to my husband and offered to make it on different bread. They went completely above and beyond, and the sandwich was still unbelievable. Amazing food, amazing coffee, and customer service that truly made us feel cared for. We'll be talking about Emissary long after this trip.

Clearly all the ingredients were high quality. Everything looked beautiful in the display window. The eggs were perfectly scrambled. Light, fluffy, moist, and held together with just the right amount of rich cheddar cheese. And, the Bacon was great ... thick, just the right amount of crispy and chewy. The English muffin was disappointing; dry, dense, heavy and overly chewy. It's almost as if the dough didn't have a chance to rise fully, it was made with too little water, and it was undercooked. It was so dense that the smooth interior faces of the muffin didn't even do a good job of holding the sandwich together. Sauce dripped, eggs fell out. Even the thick bacon slid around, almost escaping being bitten into. This wasn't the only baking concern we had with Ophelia. We also picked up a mango filled "summer special" (doughnut) and a piece of "Pistachio Berry Toast". The doughnut filling was wonderful.. rich, sweet mango. The doughnut itself was surprisingly dry and dense. Then there's the reason we just don't care to return to Ophelia... the pistachio berry "toast". First, there was nothing toasted about this dense slab that most resembled pound cake... yes, pound cake. Dry, tasteless, and completely underwhelming. It's difficult to identify the makeup of the "pistachio" topping... and it certainly lacked flavor. The berries were flat, desiccated berries on top. All was covered with a thin dusting of confectioners sugar. Definitely nothing to have again. We also had a cortado and a matcha latte. All told, the cost of this trailer-in-a-parking-lot quick breakfast was $57 including a 20% tip that we added. There are no picnic tables or benches around, so we ate in the car. By the time we left there was a line of over 25 people, and more streaming in. When we arrived at 7:45 AM Saturday there were only three people ahead of us. So, either the hype is still pulling in new unsuspecting customers, or this was a really "off" day for the quality of the baked goods.
