    Food Truck

I love manakeesh. In fact I had heard of the Thyme Machine from a social media too. So when my aunt suggested this after my family went out for dinner, we thought all why not? You know how when you take someone to a restaurant that specializes in food from that person's culture and they usually aren't a big fan of it? Well, that's not usually the case for me. I recognize a lot of time the food is not gonna taste as good as if it were homemade. Also people are free to be creative and make it non traditional...as long as it's good. Thyme Machine is a food truck with a story and the effort to honor memories. The food truck is started by a medical doctor who started the truck to honor his grandmother. Sadly, as sentimental and sweet the story is, Thyme Machine can't hide behind its story for its less than praiseworthy food. Remember, I have no issue with it not being traditional. I love shawarma especially a good chicken one with the garlic sauce. What I don't love is, eating a small tortilla with probably 3 pieces of chicken and so smothered in garlic sauce...I'm not sure if they meant to call it a garlic yogurt shawarma instead of chicken. For context, I got the chicken shawarma tacos (which the picture advertised as three tacos...I got a single, not even warmed, small tortilla. My aunt who got the large shawarma, had real shawarma bread but sadly the garlic sauce which really tasted like garlic with plain yogurt was also too much. Now this isn't a case of "oh I'm not really a fan of garlic sauce or I only like like a little bit". No I LOVE garlic sauce in my shawarma but when there is more garlic sauce than chicken and to the point where I am not sure I am eating chicken...that's when I think it might be too much. Next the manakeesh, my parents kept it simple with a cheese one but...this was rolled up like a fruit roll-up and just fell flat. The lack of flavors also was weird. It's like ordering chicken and they give you a boiled chicken with no salt or pepper and tell you...well you ordered chicken not seasoning. Which is not the case here, the workers were not rude at all. We didn't complain to the workers, we just took our losses and left. In all honesty, the workers were nice but I could tell a bit stressed. There was someone who was new and learning and it's late at night. The seating area they have is beautiful and definitely a great late night spot to hang out. Just sadly, the food fell flat.

If you like Arabic coffee, this is your truck! The barista working was extremely friendly! I asked her what she recommended to eat for breakfast and she recommended the labneh zaatar wrap tha had the labneh yogurt sauce with an olive spread, fresh mint and veggies toasted lovely! You can never go wrong with Arabic coffee, of course! There is a cute area outside to eat your meal! Definitely recommend this spot!

One of my favorite places in Brickell. The service was beyond exceptional, the owner and workers were very kind, made me feel like I was back in Lebanon with the great hospitality. The food was served very quickly and tasted amazing. Ambiance was very pleasant. 10/10 across the board!

Thyme machine is a perma-parked food truck serving up authentic and savory Lebanese fare in Brickell. There's outside seating at picnic tables. I tried a man'ouche with zatar and labneh and it was an amazing blend of warm goat cheese, veggies, and spices. For a spot of sweet the honeyed baklava was a perfect ending.

I discovered Thyme Machine at the Smorgaburg in Wynwood. We were walking around looking for something vegetarian, and heard some drumming. I thought it was some Lunar new year celebration thing, walked closer but didn't see any dancing lion or dragon. Instead, there was what looks like some flatbread grilling on top of an upside down wok. Curious, I chat with the guy there, who was the drummer. He nicely went into detail about what man'ouche is, and the friendly girl behind the counter offered a sample. I ordered one, and loved every bite of it. There is a generous layer of za'atar sauce, the labneh cheese is mild but flavorful and the mint adds some refreshing flavor. It's my first time trying this, so I have little reference or comparison, but it's something I'd love to eat again and again. Hopefully it won't be too long before I get to taste their delicious man'ouche again, and maybe with some Arabic coffee too!

It was the best labne wrap since I was in Lebanon

Visiting from San Diego, as I was looking for something to eat, I passed by Thyme. The flag of Lebanon drew my attention. I've been to Lebanon many times and cook Lebanese dishes so I wasn't sure at first, if I'd like it or not. I ordered the labneh wrap with all the included ingredients. With the first bite I got tears to my eyes. It was as if I got teleported to Lebanon. Incredible flavor, texture, aftertaste! Fresh and healthy!!! 10 out of 5 stars. It was a trigger to all the beautiful memories of Lebanon. Thank you Thyme! Even if you're not that hungry just try their food! Kteeer taib!!!

We came here on a whim since it was one of the few food spots (aside from clubs) that were open late at night. It's directly in front of a parking garage, so you can either find street parking or just park in the garage itself. The owner was very friendly and welcoming. He explained the menu to us as well as the ingredients used. Upon ordering, there was a seating area to the side of the truck that we waited at while he quickly made our order. The food itself was delicious and filling, you can easily split one with someone else to share. Ingredients were simple but carried lots of flavor. Great place for quick lebanese food!

Lira Beirut celebrates this through its food, decor and service. The whole vibe of the place seems extracted from a cool corner of Beirut with beautiful retro-cool artwork that is colorful, happy and sophisticated. From graphic prints, to black and white photos and architectural studies, it gives you a sense of a culture that takes the best of the middle east and cosmopolitan worlds. That sets the stage for the food served here. This is not a watered-down shawarma spot to pacify over-served revelers. It's a place to meet real foodie friends who appreciate authenticity and carefully prepared dishes in an elevated way. I haven't had a chance to go to the Middle East, but I can tell from the deft use of spices, heat and technique that their intention is to share the best from their food memory of the old country. I've gone on a few occasion and really enjoyed the fattoush salad, the labneh mtwame, the muhammara, the chicken shawarma plate and the kafta. Many of the dishes come with the crispiest, most addictive fries I've had, gorgeous savory rice and a heap of fresh, fragrant herbs. Even the wine list is pretty nice, and I've had the well priced Sauvignon Blanc and the Pouilly Fuisse. I wished the location were better for us and for them. It could use a more visible location where nice traffic goes by it. Since it's at the edge of Wynwood where it borders with the slowly gentrifying Overtown, it could take a while before its riches are recognized. I can't wait to go back for happy hour again, and I long to see the day when this becomes an awesome neighborhood hangout as they build more apartment buildings in the area that can house people who will appreciate all that Lira Beirut offers.

For context, I worked in fine dining in New York and Miami for almost 20 years, so I notice the details immediately, hospitality, management presence, the energy of a room. You can usually tell pretty quickly what kind of operation you're dealing with. We were a party of five. I arrived with my four-year-old son and was greeted warmly by the hostess. That warmth ended instantly. Standing directly behind her were two managers in suits blocking the main entrance. Both looked straight at me and my child and said absolutely nothing. No hello, no smile, no acknowledgment. Anyone in hospitality knows that moment sets the tone. As an Arab woman who grew up around a culture where hospitality is everything, it was already a bad sign. We were seated outside and the vibe stayed cold. Unfortunately, the food matched it. We ordered a lot because I genuinely wanted to give the kitchen a fair shot. I grew up eating Lebanese food and what stood out most was the lack of soul. Everything felt flat, like it needed salt, lemon, brightness, that warm Mediterranean seasoning Lebanese food is known for. The tabouli was especially shocking. A $20+ tabouli with no bulgur that was so roughly chopped it was basically whole parsley leaves and slices of onion. Any Lebanese auntie would die at the sight of it. At one point I asked our server if they had harissa or any kind of spicy sauce. She said the only option was Sriracha. In a Lebanese restaurant that charges $18 for a tablespoon of hummus. An Asian chili sauce as the only option. What made it even stranger is that harissa is listed on multiple dishes on the menu, so it clearly exists somewhere in the building. I asked for the Sriracha anyway out of desperation for flavor. It never came. Same with ketchup for my toddler's fries, it took three requests. Throughout the meal I walked around the restaurant several times taking my son to the bathroom, looking around the space, even going upstairs to the lounge. Not a single person acknowledged us. Not a host, not a server, not a manager. The bar is right by the entrance and every time we looked over at the bartender and bar manager, just blank stares. At one point we were clearly standing there confused looking for the bathroom in an empty restaurant and still had to say "Excuse me, where is the bathroom?" Wild. Later I walked up to the bar myself to ask if they carried mezcal. After dinner I went back to order one. Same energy--zero warmth, zero engagement. And this is with an automatic 20% gratuity already on the bill. The mezcal was a $25 two-ounce pour and I still had to ask for an orange slice garnish because no one offered it. Empty bar, two people behind it, and I still had to request it. Also worth noting, our reservation was at 5:45pm and the restaurant was practically empty. Yet I didn't see a single manager walking the floor, greeting tables, or checking on guests. I had talked this place up to my party because I'd been so curious about it for years, and it was honestly a huge letdown. If you know Lebanese food and understand Middle Eastern warmth and hospitality, this probably isn't the place for you. Expect cold, almost nonexistent hospitality and food that feels stripped of the soul that makes Lebanese cuisine special. The space is beautiful. I'll give them that. Everything else felt like a very on-brand Miami disappointment, what happens when you give people a beautiful restaurant, expensive food, automatic gratuity, and no leadership. From the lack of authenticity and attention to detail, it's hard to believe anyone truly Lebanese is behind this operation. If anything, it feels more like a polished money grab. Honestly, it might have been less jarring if they just called themselves "Mediterranean" like so many other places in this city. But if you're going to call yourself a Lebanese restaurant, the culture and hospitality should actually be there.

Mediterranean (specifically Lebanese) food is perhaps my favorite on this planet, but this place severely disappointed. I want to start off with the good. Nice, friendly staff. Cozy atmosphere. And all the sides we had were great. Now, the bad. We got the beef shawarma, and it was ok. The shawarma itself was largely bland, and just tasted like cut up steak bites with no flavor. However, that's not the worst part. I had an absolutely nauseating experience with the arayes, which is one of my favorite dishes that I make at home from time to time too. It smelled like cigarettes, gasoline, and death. I don't know how else to describe it. I'm not sure what kind of meat it was, I assume lamb, and I've had experience with lamb that had gone bad in the fridge, and the texture was very reminiscent. I hope that's just a coincidence, and the smell was from another source. More so than the texture, again, the smell was enough to make us gag, and I have a strong stomach. I'd give lower, but I was treated fairly, and that would feel unfair. Thankfully, I'm not in this area that much, but I hope I just got unlucky and everyone else had and will continue to have good experiences here.
