Honey Veil has been running my feed for a while and I was in the area early enough. I arrived to the bakery shop at 8am. It was rather empty. Only had two people ahead of me. Since it was my first time, I approached the front desk counter. The woman behind the counter didn't even greet me. To break the ice, I finally said, "it's my first time here." I ordered one banana matcha. She asked if I wanted honey whipped topping. I asked if it was extra because why ask if it wasn't. She said it was extra cost and makes a difference in the drink. I was slightly surprised as I personally believe a drink should come as ordered if it's known for that. Even their branding name is called Honey Veil. Also, as an observation, there are about 5 people around the counter that were preparing drinks. It appeared slow to me but perhaps they had online orders. My banana matcha order took a while to be honest. When I left the bakery, there was a small Honey Veil trailer that was blocking my car. That was inconvenient to anyone. Honey Veil has been on my radar for a while and finally the day has come! We ordered two maple brown sugar iced coffee with oatmilk and we were convinced by the employee helping us to add in their famous honey whipped topping. The drinks were pricy, $19 for two iced coffees. Anyways, we were open to trying since everyone had been raving about the place. Immediate thought was that the place seemed very chaotic, workers all scrambling behind the counter, it almost triggered a panic attack by just watching them trying to fulfill orders lol. Many of the workers are young, very very casually dressed, it seemed like a high school coffee team put this place together and they're hoping for the best. We got our drinks about 20 minutes later (kinda lengthy for 3pm on a Friday?) we took our sips and kinda shrugged at each other. It was ok, and as we took more sips the honey whip addition just made it worse and worse. Left exhausted by the vibe there alone, wouldn't come back. Maybe the matcha is better? Good! First time here. I ordered online and it took about 10 minutes for it to be complete. I'm glad I did because the line was very long, I think it would have taken much more time otherwise. But ordering wasn't too bad it was a 7 minute wait. The sweetest gal Isabella took our order, she helped we with my questions in regard to the coffee. We ordered two honey veil lattes with honey cold foam. As well as a cinnamon roll. The place is very aesthetic and i love all the live plants. Really makes the place come together. Really glad to have tried this place after seeing so much hype on socials. We tried the iced miruku matcha latte with honey syrup, and an iced maple brown latte with the whipped honey on top. Both drinks were really good, but the coffee was far superior. Perfectly sweet, flavorful, and strong, it was smooth and not bitter at all, it was delicious. The matcha was really good, very clearly ceremonial grade and on the more umami side with some astringency. I LOVED and highly appreciated that they weigh out the matcha grams for each drink, and that it is strong. However, I do wish the syrup had come through money, as someone who loves the actual taste of matcha and prefers no flavors and little sugar, it was somehow really really bitter and tasted like no syrup was added (though some was!), but other than that I have no complaints on the drinks. Hyped for a good reason! I will say, the line was insanely long and it took a long time for us to have our order taken and to then receive our order. I think the organization system could be improved and having more than 1 register would make things work a little smoother. Though this is just feedback and not a negative complaint. Holy smokes, the hype is real! I have been speculating wether to come here or not based on the long lines and controversial opinions but can truly say any hate this place has gotten comes fully from natural controversy caused by such an exhilarating success, because the matcha speaks for itself, and it is ADDICTIVE! I have been on a Lavendar matcha kick and wanted to try their spin when I saw it was on their summer menu. And in my opinion, I could barely taste the syrup at all. It mainly tasted like earthy matcha. Not necessarily a bad thing if you really like matcha in it of itself, but I was really disappointed that I couldn't taste any of the flavoring. Additionally, I saw their pastries and thought that they were a little lackluster. Some of them looked like they had been sitting out for awhile. Some did look pretty fresh, but it really depends on what you order. Additionally I think the price is a little expensive for me to want to pay for a product I am not completely happy with. While I know a lot of the reviews for here have been extremely positive, I have a hard time finding the appeal. I have been seeing this place all over Instagram. So I decided to drive on down and see what all the hype was about. It's on a street where you have to pay for parking. Even on a weekday it was quite busy. I decided to try the banana bread Matcha latte and ask the young lady at the register if they had any savory/non-sweet pastries. She recommended a chocolate chip cookie or the blueberry scone. Not sure how either would be savory but, I decided to try the blueberry scone. I would say it did take a while for me to receive my items because like I said it was busy. I paid for 30 minutes of parking and had two minutes left before it expired when I received everything. The blueberry scone I did find to be very good. The only sweetness it had was the drizzle on top. That's definitely something I would order again the banana bread Matcha latte I got with their pistachio milk. I thought it was OK. It did taste like banana bread. The food arrived completely cold, and the bread was so hard that I could not even stick a fork into it. I politely asked if they could warm it up or offer me a fresh one. The initial response was simply that they could not, with no alternative and no real effort to resolve the situation. Only when we were already leaving did another employee mention that they did have a microwave and could warm it up. There also did not appear to be a manager present to properly handle a customer concern. When we got home, we reheated the food, hoping it would at least taste better. Unfortunately, it did not. The products do not taste particularly good, they are very ordinary, and the drinks do not justify the hype either. Popularity on TikTok may bring customers in once, but it does not replace quality, good service, or basic customer care. As the mother of a teenager, I would rather teach my daughter that we should not accept poor quality or poor service simply because a place is trendy. They were out of the cinnamon rolls and carrot cake but the manager made sure to make it up to us. This was a great move by her because she didn't really need to do it but gave excellent customer service! My coffee was delicious and that honey cream is thick and sweet and foamy. There are two (maybe three tops) places for matcha in Miami that I really funk with and this is one of them. This a true homegrown, family-owned and female led shop that cares about what goes into their offerings. Rich matcha (and coffee) flavors and delicious baked goods on deck. The Banana Bread Matcha has been my go to here since they launched it, and it was supposed to be a seasonal but was such a damn hit, it's still there (definitely recommended they keep it), which I'm happy about. giving 3 stars solely for the ambiance and staff- which are both great. however, the matcha is not in my opinion. I am a huge matcha connoisseur and I can appreciate the vibrant green and bitterness of the matcha, but something just wasn't right with the actual flavor. I had my friends also try it to see if it was just me- but we agreed that something was off. the strawberries tasted like they went bad and the honey foam was also off- tasting. maybe it's just not to my palettes liking, but I couldn't even get through 1/4 of the drink. I feel bad because everything else was great- I just think they need to reformulate something. read more
