The place is clean inside, and the baristas are helpful. Some seating areas. I had the vanilla iced latte, it definitely tasted good and the quality they use for the espresso is very high. I wish they had cute cups, something to put this place higher on my list. Although I liked it, it wasn't a standout for me. Nonetheless, I would definitely return. read more

Came in on a weekday at 2pm. Took awhile to order and get coffee because there was only one employee helping customers while another employee was in the back cutting some prep work rather then helping customers. I ordered a Chai tea latte and it was so watery it was not good at all. My friend got an iced vanilla latte and loved it because of the homemade syrup! Overall wont be back. read more

How can you not want to try a place called "Cafe Grumpy"? It's perfect for me as that is exactly what I am before I get my morning coffee in me. I went to grumps (this is what I have lovingly nicknamed it) on a Saturday morning around 10am which is an ideal time to visit the downtown Coral Gables area as it's early enough to enjoy the shops but not too far into the morning that it's hard to find parking due to brunchers. The cafe itself had a few patrons inside, which seemed to me like locals. One man on a laptop, and a few friends chatting over coffee. It was peaceful and quiet which was a welcome contrast to overly busy coffee shops. I realize that reviews like these bring business to coffee shops making them inherently a little louder, but it's nice when you get to experience one in a tranquil state. The service was great and the coffee was top-notch. I got a cold brew which they let me sample a little beforehand and I truly enjoyed its taste as it wasn't as tart as others I've had before (yes, tart--my fellow coffee lovers will get this). It also didn't send me into an anxiety attack due to caffeine content like others have before. All of this tells me, they make a pretty good cold brew! My favorite part is how some of their cups have their grump on it. I vote for more grump branding! Cafe grumpy is a must try! read more

I had just finished working out at the gym when I decided to grab a quick breakfast and spotted this cute little coffee shop! The name and the LGBTQ+ sticker at the front door is what really drew me into this place. I ordered an avocado toast and I really wanted a matcha latte but they were sold out. Instead, the barista sold me on an iced tea and it did not disappoint! The avocado bread was very good and filling! I can't wait to come back and try their almond butter toast! Stoped by on my way to a local store. Loved the grumpy face sitting over the entrance. It was adorable just like the inside of the cafe itself. Tried the almond butter toast and wow, the banana and coconut flakes layered on top was just the right amount of sweet. For a drink, we happened to ask if they had Lavender flavor for their latte's as it wasn't on the menu and they did! It was made with honey and was a 10/10. The staff was so sweet and their grumpy face merch was adorable. When I'm back in the area, I am definitely coming back! read more

Cafe Grumpy is by far one of my favorite coffee shops. My usual is the honey oat latte and on some days I will get the banana toast. It's close to my work and it's my go to pick me up for my soon-to-be stressful day. The iced latte is creamy, lightly sweet, and strong. The toast is fresh bread, thinly sliced bananas, perfect amount of almond butter, coconut flakes, and a light drizzle of honey, it's filling and delicious. One of my major reasons why I go there is the consistency of the product and the excellent customer service. I always find that the sweet and hardworking staff are patient, engaged, and bring a little joy in my day. On an especially bad day, one of the sweet associates wrote me a pic me up message! Mocha is 5/10 I expected better considering the nice location and specialty coffee but this wasn't as expected. The ladies working here are very nice. They offered free samples of brownies which tasted amazing. They have news papers that you can read. Parking is a bit tough because you have to park and pay for being in this coffee shop. This was my second time at cafe grumpy and let me tell you, it always hits! I live up in Gulfport, Fl and from Miami. I was visiting for the day and just had to come back to cafe grumpy. They make their own delicious simple syrups and that's the cherry on top for me I love coffee syrups made from intentional homemade love. I hate added anything. So I'm truly grateful for such effort and love given by all who work there. I met a lovely kind soul who is actually from Tampa and we clicked immediately. She gave me her honest opinions of their syrups flavor (mainly sweetness) and even hooked it up with an old flavor special (pumpkin) that wasn't being offered anymore but there was still some left over. Cafe Grumpy has 11 locations and this is the only one outside of NYC... That's pretty cool! There's an increasing number of spots to get your caffeine buzz on around the Gables and this is definitely a solid one. Honestly, the prices are a little steep, but the quality is there. They have lots of tea and coffee options, including matcha lattes. To eat, they have baked goods from a vegan bakery and La Provence, as well as a small menu with things like toast with avocado, and almond butter. Everything I've ordered has been prepared very well! There's not a ton of seating inside because I think most people grab and go. That being said, I'd totally bring my laptop here to hang out and work. There's a nice window that lets in plenty of daylight and the staff is usually pretty friendly, as well. read more

I went in for a coffee after I got one that I didn't like from the place next door and it's safe to say that Cafe Grumpy's coffee is head and shoulders above not just the neighbor, but a lot of coffee places around here. I got an iced latte with simple syrup and it was delicious. The flavor of the coffee actually came through, instead of the drink tasting like a cup of milk. If you want to feel uncomfortable this is the spot for you. For a full week I had gone to this location, mainly because whole foods coffee shop is always packed. The coffee here is great quality though as well. Everytime I came specifically around 9 am I felt as if I was a bother to the employees. I tried to have a conversation with one and she looked at me angry and didn't say a word. Which was super awkward. It's the same two girls working in the morning. The one with the longer hair never talks never makes my coffee. She is the one who looked at me very weirdly. Now I'm not saying she needs to speak to me, but making me feel ostracized is crazy. Then the last time I went I feel as if the behavior of the employee who is just not happy to be there rubbed off on the co worker that always makes my coffee and that day she didn't even say the coffee was ready. She made it and went to the back with the other employee. I had NO IDEA MY COFFEE WAS MADE. It's pretty inside though. I just don't feel comfortable coming back. Been wanting to check out this place for a hot minute and finally had the chance to do so today. Ordered the dulce de leche latte and was very pleased. The dulce de leche flavor wsan't overpowering or artificial tasting, so the coffee flavor really came through. Visited mid-day on a Wednesday and had the place to myself for a few hours. I love that this is a NY based shop that made it's way south. Ordered a seasonal latte on ice and avocado toast. To be honest, I was pretty disappointed in the toast -- it was truly just smashed avo and some spices. Usually, these toasts come with some sort of onions, raddish, cheese, bacon, chia, etc.. I was dog walking down Ponce De Leon this week, attempting to make it to Starbucks when i stumbled into this coffee shop, i stopped by to 'support local' and try a new spot. I tried the seasonal maple spice late and unfortunately, it was not that great... This place really has potential.... not only is it really nice inside with really chill vibes but the coffee seems promising. Our barista was very friendly and answered all our questions. But unfortunately our drinks were not really that great. We ordered a latte and a matcha latte. The latte was weak and came like warm. The matcha had good flavor but was not mixed properly and there were clumps of matcha powder which made it unappealing and tough to drink, it was also warm rather than hot. I really wished I had enjoyed our drinks because the service was great and like I said I really love the feel ofplace. Maybe I'll try it again and see if I have a different experience next time. read more

Phenomenal coffee. Just as good as the NYC shops, with incredibly friendly and accommodating staff. Excellent espresso drinks, great local pastries and smaller bites to eat. You can comfortably drop in for a quick cup, or grab a seat enjoy some quiet reading or focused work time. I'm certainly biased, since I'm on a first name basis with all of the baristas, but Grumpy is a gem just off the downtown Gables strip. read more
