Panichelli's is the best thing to happen to River Bend in years! Yes, there's pizza, and it's great, New York-style pie that tastes as delicious as it looks. But that's just the beginning. They've also got tasty, fresh pasta dishes, sandwiches, salads, and their garlic knots which are not to be missed. If you're not in a pizza or pasta mood, try the steak salad. Fresh greens, thin-sliced sandwich steak, cheese, and your favorite dressing will make this a meal in itself. Panichelli's moved to River Bend from Vanceboro a few years ago. We stopped in based on the reviews here. This place is AWESOME. The decor is a bit dated but don't let that steer you away. The fried mozzarella sticks where amazing, you can tell they really care about what they serve. I don't usually like mozzarella but now I'm gonna crave these constantly. Giant New York styled slices. They don't disappoint at all. We also tried some garlic knots, again they where great! I can't praise this place enough. The entire staff was so pleasant and nice. Pizza sizes are oversized - but love the leftovers. Since we moved to the area from Delaware, this is the first pizza we have truly enjoyed and tasted like what we were used to. My husband and I went to this restaurant for the first time today. I was blown away. Don't be put off by the looks of the building. This little spot is fantastic. I had Cajun shrimp fettuccini and it was the best sauce I have had in years. The shrimp was spiced perfectly. My husband had the Italian sub and gave it a 4 star review - which is actually a 5 star as he said he couldn't give it a 5 star review because the Italian subs in Heaven might be better. We took home a piece of cheesecake and a piece of Italian rum cake. My husband lived in Italy for a while and said the rum cake tasted just like he remember it from eating it in Italy. We highly recommend and will be returning soon to try other dishes. read more

Really, really great food. Fresh ingredients and masterfully crafted. Dining room was well lit, orderly and clean. Meat lover pizza was loaded with fresh meats on a very tasty, thin crust with a great jersey style "bite". We also had the home made, hand breaded mozzarella sticks that were wonderfully coated and lightly fried. Chicken bites were just like you would make at home. The sauce was very well seasoned and tasty, not like the commercial junk you get at other pizza shops. Service was outstanding, with owners that care about their customers and the experience they are having. Reminds me of the small pizza shops in NJ, where you know that the food is hand-crafted and not churned out of a machine. I highly recommend this family-owned, local shop. read more

I was visiting my grandparents in the area. We ordered pizza here and it was amazing. We are Italians from NYC and I must say this was quality. The crust was super crunchy (like brick oven crunchy) and the taste was superb. So surprised! I read prior reviews of the fresh mozzarella sticks and regret not ordering them. Will next time.
