Really enjoyed this. Sandwiches were great and super filling. Loved the homemade pickles, and I think they were homemade chips. I meant to get chip dip and totally forgot so will have to try next time. Small restaurant with limited seating but would recommend!

What more can I say about The Half that hasn't been said? Amazing food, fair prices, the best pickle you can ever hope to eat. The staff are friendly and helpful. They brought a voucher for a free Sammie bc they said it took too long, and I didn't think it was long at all. Easy here.

Sad to report that I was pretty disappointed in the sandwich that I got. It's the tucker (turkey) and it had zero flavor. There is a ton of meat in there, but then lettuce and cucumber (which have no flavor) I added mayo, and I think some type of spicy sauce was added ?? Not what I wanted at all. It needed different toppings or sauce. The balsamic drizzle doesn't do much for it. :( There are other sandwich spots around to frequent unfortunately.

This place has HUGE sandwiches that are loaded with fillings, which is awesome! The flavors are really good and the meat is shaved thin, giving it a really nice texture. I also enjoyed the chickpea salad as a side, but tried my friend's chips and those were delicious as well! It's a lot of food and I had half a sandwich leftover for the next day, so the price is worth it. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The inside is very cute and has some seating, and the service was fairly quick.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The only problem I had is that there is no build your own option, which I would've loved. To add things on is pricey (it was an extra $2 just to add a sauce), so having a build your own would really help for those of us who are particular with our sandwiches!

This place is located off of a very small street, near a funeral home. Sometimes parking is difficult and you will need to park around the corner, near the church, and walk over. Customer service is always great! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The smell of bread being toasted for sandwiches, is always welcomed.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Small countertop to sit and a few tables with chairs for dine in.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]This place is small and packs a lot of people in.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They are busy but get orders out rather quickly. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There is one bathroom near the back, along with a water station.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I love their home-made pickles and fresh chips with the old bay seasoning. The sandwiches are delicious as well.

We're so glad we decided to try The Half! [[HIGHLIGHT]]At first glance it looks like a small spot, but they actually have a spacious backyard dining area, which is perfect if the front fills up.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] When we arrived, the line was a bit long, but service was efficient--we placed our order in about 10 minutes and had our food within 15. We went for all the vegetarian options: the Clara, the Tofu Banh Mi, and the Pepper Pot with Tempeh. Everything was delicious, but the Pepper Pot really stood out--it had a hint of sweetness from the sweet potato purée, paired beautifully with the smoky, toasted ciabatta. The tempeh was flavorful and even won over my wife, who usually isn't a fan! The Clara was hearty and satisfying with its chickpea salad, and the Tofu Banh Mi had a crispy bun and bold flavors. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Great food, warm vibes--definitely worth a visit![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Went for lunch with my husband while visiting NC. This was a vegan vegetarian friendly sandwich shop and we were excited to try it! We got three sandwiches- today's special- pepper pot, the Clara's, and tofu bahn mi. Also each got different sides, we got the chips, potato salad and onion tomato salad. We were so hungry so we got three but you will definitely be full after having a serving of sandwich per person! The server was super friendly and nice, helped us with ordering giving good suggestions! They have indoor seating area and also outdoor patio for dine in! My favorite was the pepper pot, and my husband really enjoyed the Clara's too! The bahn mi was good too, but we couldn't eat it right then and there bc we were so full, which might have made the sandwich a bit soggy so it's not fair to judge a sandwich when it's soggy! If you are ever in NC again, we would definitely go back!!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Amazing this was outstanding great location and food worth the wait![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] If you're looking to have a solid lunch with a client I highly recommend this location.

Low key spot with high end sandwiches and beer selection. They take both seriously and it shows. We ordered the chipped ham and the harvey which has pastrami as the protein. Ate half at the restaurant along with some house made chips and pickles. It was all great and just as good when we ate the rest around midnight after a concert. Staff/ownership is chill and super friendly. Met a regular, also from CLT, who said he never leaves town without having eaten here at least once. We get it!

The half is an amazing sandwich shop local Wilmington. I will always go there for the rest of my life.

    Mixto on gluten free bread
    Zoe G.

Gluten free bread surprisingly super yummy! Not a small piece either, the way gluten free bread typically is. The sandwich was great!! Would totally come back and try other sandwiches. Pictured is the mixto on gluten free bread. My friend got the tofu bahn mi which she loved. My other friend got the tucker which looked so fresh. Half pickle had a kick to it, a nice surprise! The chips are just Lays chips with seasoning on them. Long wait at 2pm on a rainy Saturday. Tables turn over pretty quick. Have beer and wine options as well. Free street parking only.

We are both originally from the East Coast and we were craving a good sandwich. There's a lot of great places in town, but what a find The Half was! We both got the Ernie cold cuts sub. I think it's a mess, but there was a lot of things I could come back and try. I will. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Very good vibe and constant traffic coming in.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Their service is great.

Super good sandwiches! Got the trucker and built my own. The ciabatta bread was so good, got it toasted and it was amaze! Generous portions and overall great experience.

We came yesterday and didn't want to wait but then came back today and got our group on the list and waited. Note that the parking close by is expensive and they won't seat you if your whole party isn't there within 5 minutes of texting that your table is ready. So yep- plan to wait and sit around. Inside it's pub style, bar available and good music, but not much seating which explains the wait ;) We ordered the 109 Chestnut Chicken Sandwich, the Hot Roasted Pork Sandwich and the Reuben. Our waitress recommended not getting the onion rings app and to do it as sides to save money, and man, we had SO MANY leftovers. The pork sandwich is super good but so filling. I could only eat half with all the onion rings! The Reuben was absolutely delicious and I would 1000% get that again. The best thing on the menu in our opinion: the Cheese Steak Egg Rolls with chipotle mayo- OMG. We will DREAM about these!!! I haven't seen these talked about much- TRY THEM, they were literally mouth watering and I would have eaten them as an entree and not an app! Overall we would come back again, just be prepared to wait forever for a table and you won't be disappointed!

They have a variety of seating options, including some group-friend booths. On my last visit, I sat at the bar and ordered a flight of beer. Tony the bartender was very patient with my request for a flight of local beer with no IPAs or hoppy beers. He picked out: 2: Wrightsville Beach Orange Crush, 3. Waterline Kolsh, 4. Teaches Peaches, 1. Watermelon Dragon Fruit Burst. I was familiar with the first three and loved them. I jokingly refer to Wrightsville Beach Orange Crush as creamsicle beer. It isn't too sweet, but the Orange flavor is quite strong. The Waterline Kolsh is light and very easy to drink. The Teaches Peaches is one of my favorites due to its light fruity flavor. The Watermelon Dragon Fruit Burst was a wildcard in Tony's lineup. This sour was a refreshing way to mix up my beer tasting. My friend also got a flight and didn't like one of the beers he chose. Tony swapped it out for a different beer as soon as I told him and the new one was well-received. My favorite part of this visit was that Tony decided to bring me a sample of the 8. Firestone Walker Mind Haze, because it was a non-hoppy IPA and he thought I might like it. It wasn't my fave, but I really appreciated the opportunity to try something new. I snacked on free popcorn all during my visit. The popcorn machine is in the back. Also in the back are single-stall restrooms. Tavern Law has an A+ in my book because they have great local beer on tap and they are gay friendly.
