The Tucker, add hoagie sauce, side of chickpea salad
    Alyssa M.

This place has HUGE sandwiches that are loaded with fillings, which is awesome! The flavors are really good and the meat is shaved thin, giving it a really nice texture. I also enjoyed the chickpea salad as a side, but tried my friend's chips and those were delicious as well! It's a lot of food and I had half a sandwich leftover for the next day, so the price is worth it. The inside is very cute and has some seating, and the service was fairly quick. The only problem I had is that there is no build your own option, which I would've loved. To add things on is pricey (it was an extra $2 just to add a sauce), so having a build your own would really help for those of us who are particular with our sandwiches!

This place is located off of a very small street, near a funeral home. Sometimes parking is difficult and you will need to park around the corner, near the church, and walk over. Customer service is always great! The smell of bread being toasted for sandwiches, is always welcomed. Small countertop to sit and a few tables with chairs for dine in. This place is small and packs a lot of people in. They are busy but get orders out rather quickly. There is one bathroom near the back, along with a water station. I love their home-made pickles and fresh chips with the old bay seasoning. The sandwiches are delicious as well.

We're so glad we decided to try The Half! At first glance it looks like a small spot, but they actually have a spacious backyard dining area, which is perfect if the front fills up. When we arrived, the line was a bit long, but service was efficient--we placed our order in about 10 minutes and had our food within 15. We went for all the vegetarian options: the Clara, the Tofu Banh Mi, and the Pepper Pot with Tempeh. Everything was delicious, but the Pepper Pot really stood out--it had a hint of sweetness from the sweet potato purée, paired beautifully with the smoky, toasted ciabatta. The tempeh was flavorful and even won over my wife, who usually isn't a fan! The Clara was hearty and satisfying with its chickpea salad, and the Tofu Banh Mi had a crispy bun and bold flavors. Great food, warm vibes--definitely worth a visit!

Went for lunch with my husband while visiting NC. This was a vegan vegetarian friendly sandwich shop and we were excited to try it! We got three sandwiches- today's special- pepper pot, the Clara's, and tofu bahn mi. Also each got different sides, we got the chips, potato salad and onion tomato salad. We were so hungry so we got three but you will definitely be full after having a serving of sandwich per person! The server was super friendly and nice, helped us with ordering giving good suggestions! They have indoor seating area and also outdoor patio for dine in! My favorite was the pepper pot, and my husband really enjoyed the Clara's too! The bahn mi was good too, but we couldn't eat it right then and there bc we were so full, which might have made the sandwich a bit soggy so it's not fair to judge a sandwich when it's soggy! If you are ever in NC again, we would definitely go back!!

Low key spot with high end sandwiches and beer selection. They take both seriously and it shows. We ordered the chipped ham and the harvey which has pastrami as the protein. Ate half at the restaurant along with some house made chips and pickles. It was all great and just as good when we ate the rest around midnight after a concert. Staff/ownership is chill and super friendly. Met a regular, also from CLT, who said he never leaves town without having eaten here at least once. We get it!

We are both originally from the East Coast and we were craving a good sandwich. There's a lot of great places in town, but what a find The Half was! We both got the Ernie cold cuts sub. I think it's a mess, but there was a lot of things I could come back and try. I will. Very good vibe and constant traffic coming in. Their service is great.

    Mixto on gluten free bread

Gluten free bread surprisingly super yummy! Not a small piece either, the way gluten free bread typically is. The sandwich was great!! Would totally come back and try other sandwiches. Pictured is the mixto on gluten free bread. My friend got the tofu bahn mi which she loved. My other friend got the tucker which looked so fresh. Half pickle had a kick to it, a nice surprise! The chips are just Lays chips with seasoning on them. Long wait at 2pm on a rainy Saturday. Tables turn over pretty quick. Have beer and wine options as well. Free street parking only.

My son and I had a nice meal tonight. It was dead inside and they were sold out of alot of things because they were so busy earlier so that was kind of disappointing. I ordered the Rachel which was delicious and my son had the pastrami supreme. The suprette was not as great as we thought it would be. He also had a grilled cheese which he loved and the cookie and he loves that, too. The employees were really nice and of course the dining area is super chill (especially outside).

Took my besties in for lunch yesterday! They were definitely happy and I loved my sandwich and chickpea salad too! Long live The Half!

It's all about the food, right? Well it was excellent! This cute little house packed in the customers while I was there with my husband, our grandson, and his fiancé. I ordered the Mixto which featured meats and cheese with olive sauce and a tasty mixto sauce on nicely toasted chibatta bread. If I was ever back in the area I'd stop back here in a heartbeat! I also ordered some homemade chips and chickpea salad which IMO was too dry and spicy for me; (my grandson was not a fan either). My husband had the chipped ham as did my grandson's fiancé (hers was on a gluten free roll). They both were pleased with their sandwiches. My grandson ordered the Superette and quite enjoyed it and was very full when we were done.

    Turkey sandwich

Typically, I am not a huge sandwich fan but this place is a must try. Turkey sandwich unlike any other! Small kitchen and building so the wait can end up being 15-30 minutes but well worth it. It's nested in a not so great part of town but once you're inside you would never know!

Amazing sandwich restaurant in downtown Wilmington! This place has a great selection warm and cold sandwiches. Everyone orders at the counter and the sandwiches come out very quickly. I ordered the Italian parts unknown sandwich and it was very tasty. The sandwich comes with a side too! I tried a bite of a few other sandwiches and all of them were very good. They have a great selection of local beers and they highlight their beer selection on their website.

I recently tried The Half. I went on a Saturday around lunchtime, and it was busy. Even with it being busy, the service was still quick. I had the Superette with Turkey and the winter special, Ernie Cold Cuts. Both were extremely good. The bread wasn't too much, and the fillings are truly stacked like the Instagram pictures! For sides, I would go with the chips over the pickles. The pickles were not quite as strong with a pickle taste as I wanted.

We started walking around and my wonderful wife suggested Copper Penny. Absolutely! There was a short wait for a table, but we didn't mind. The inside is almost like we remember it. We did notice the menu is a lot smaller. The last time we dined here was around ten years ago. Definitely plenty of options. We went with the onion ring appetizer, Cobb salad, and the BBQ Burger. The atmosphere of Copper Penny is the same. Definitely missed this place. After a short wait our food was brought out. Everything was delicious. This is just an update, but we still love Copper Penny and will continue to return.

It was a little embarrassed after spending $192, on food and drinks for 4, with glasses still full of alcohol when we're were asked to leave. We were told that they are enforcing a 90 min in restaurant visit...to the point where they don't care if we had finished our beer/alcohol...clearly they just wanted us out. I've been to a lot of restaurants all over the world but this was the first time in my life that I was asked to leave...we weren't loitering we only wanted to finish our drinks before leaving...the person didn't look at our situation...was very black and white, "you've been here more than 90mins". Their food is good, they are as popular as ever but clearly not a place for people who want to chat and hang out...copper penny is a restaurant not a hangout spot...to me that's loud and clear. As someone who isn't in Wilmington often I rely on my previous experience as a stating point to my ( restaurant) choice. This experience was so jarring that I'll never recommend copper penny to anyone. The food is good but they really don't want or need non local business!
