Top tier sandwiches, what a wonderful find. This local sandwich shop is a bit out of the way from downtown but it's worth a short walk. I ordered chipped ham sandwich, it was loaded with meat and fillings. So juicy and delicious. Comes with a side of cucumber salad, chips or a pickle. I chose a salad and ngl the bite size portion of the salad is laughably small but it is what it is, I can't really complain as it was $9.50 total and it was delicious too. Sad to report that I was pretty disappointed in the sandwich that I got. It's the tucker (turkey) and it had zero flavor. There is a ton of meat in there, but then lettuce and cucumber (which have no flavor) I added mayo, and I think some type of spicy sauce was added ?? Not what I wanted at all. Hell yeah, I recommend The Half. I think this is one of the highest rated sandwich spots in Wilmington. It definitely comes up when you search sandwiches in the area. I have been here now maybe three times? I have never been disappointed. The options are endless for sandwiches, and they are all just absolutely divine. But I also like about this place in addition to the quick service and food quality, is actually the variety of drinks. I like that you can have beer on tap or can, that they have a variety of soda to choose from, and that they even have sparkling water like La Croix. They are definitely appealing to the masses here with this touch. I have only ever been on a weekend and I just can't even get over how busy this places. Last time I was there I sat at the bar, and I watched the employee ring up customer after customer after customer. I mean there is literally never even like a 45 lull in customers walking in the door and lining up waiting to order. That being said, you would never know it. The employees treat each diner as if they are the only ones there and your sandwiches made with that same special care as if they were only caring about your sandwich. The price is reasonable and overall the vibe is just cool. The indoor space is a little small, if you can't get a table, you may have to sit at the counter with others. There is a lot of outdoor space which is amazing and great weather, but makes it a little tricky when it was very hot or otherwise compromised. But don't be alarmed! Because so many people come and go it is not uncommon for people to finish their meals quickly. If you even just hang around a while, you will probably find a spot. If you don't, then just take it out the door and keep on walkin - I'm sure you can find a nice place in downtown Wilmington to eat it. I'll be back !!!!! read more

We visited the Half for lunch on our way into the downtown shops. The line was almost out the door when we got there and never slowed down. Staff kept the crowd moving, including many to go orders. Oh WOW...what a surprise. I would have never discovered this place had it not been for fellow yelpers (big shout out to you for the reviews). Interesting location but cool vibes. Inside is hip and fresh. All of the workers are nice and welcoming. Now to the food. Yum in every bite. I got the chipped ham. Perfect flavor in every bite. The ham is delicious and the house made pickles are better than any you could buy and makes every bite a taste explosion. The old bay on the chips is a salute to the coast of NC and adds that zing. "House made" is the theme. From the pickles to the chips, the fact it is made here makes a huge difference. The bread is incredibly fresh too. There is a constant flow of traffic and the line can get long but it a worth the wait. Extremely clean, hip bathroom too.
