We stopped in for a quick bite while on a weekend trip and had such a pleasant experience. Food and drinks came out super fast & our server was not shy about making craft beer recommendations. The Hawaiian burger - though made more medium well than "medium" - was juicy. Shrimp burger was flavorful all around with perfect seasoning blend! The fries were a strange shape and deliciously crispy. The space inside is expansive - more expansive than it appears since the facade makes the place look like it's a smaller venue. The décor is well done with a perfect mix of rustic charm and comfort. From the bear statues to the wall hangings, there is so much attention to detail everywhere. Though we didn't bring a fur baby. Morgan's is typically closed on Mondays, but a few weeks ago they decided to remain open for the convention. Morgan's had some issues, but was for the most part a fair experience. Our server was nice to us when she was directly interacting with us, but you could tell she didn't want to serve us once she walked away. I saw her do this to multiple tables, which is not good customer service. I can see why because she normally gets the Monday off and today she had to work, but that is no excuse to have an attitude towards your customers. We started off with the crab dip; which was cheesy, lightly crabby, and hot. They bring it out with pita bread. No disappointment there! We ordered our ribeye's medium, because apparently their medium is like a medium rare. When they came out they were well done (as you can by how they cook their steaks), or medium well. Our server knew that they were overcooked, and told us to cut into our steaks to see how they were. We ensured her that it was fine because we were hungry, but sure did wish that they got it right the first time. Their Mac and cheese is VERY sharp (strong cheese flavor), but fries are crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. Due to the inconvenience, the manager offered us free dessert. Even though we were very full, we said sure because who can decline something that is free?? Most of their dessert was not made in house but they did have two that were, which was the bread pudding and a chocolate dessert. I had the chocolate dessert, while my grandmother had the bread pudding. Both are good. They give you a lot! Morgan's gets three stars because of the customer service and the overcooked steak. I am sure our experience would have been better if we didn't go on a Monday. But, they should still be "on it" every day of the week despite if they are normally closed. What a pleasant surprise to hear Morgan's was open on a Monday for the convention in town. Even nicer was the setup they had outside with free snacks and water. We ate outside for tonight. The weather was perfect. Food was delicious! Our server was fantastic. What seemed odd to us though, is when the bartender brought my wife's glass of wine, he reached over the table to hand her the glass instead of walking around the table to her side. Same thing happened when the runner brought my wife's meal. Hello bartenders and servers. Learn some basic etiquette and customer service skills on "how to serve". Morgan's was our first stop when we arrived in New Bern from Charlotte super hungry after our 4 hour drive. The menu consists of a lot of delicious seafood options. We started with their crab dip served with pita points and homemade chips. It was delicious! I went with the shrimp tacos and twisty fries. Both were fantastic! The tacos did have a lot of pico on them for my preference, but it wasn't something that impacted my ability to enjoy my lunch. The complimentary honey croissants were so good! We've been to Morgans numerous times over the years. The food is always consistent and the menu has many good options. Prices are in line with others in the area. The service has always been excellent and one of the best things is that all the servers help each other bringing the food and clearing the table. We have always enjoyed the ambiance of the restaurant but if you want a special occasion type of ambience this is probably not the place. Wonderful service! We stopped in on a weeknight and saw several people waiting. But the hostess told us the high tops were first come, first serve, so we were able to sit down right away. The ambiance is very historical and fun- they even have one of the New Bern bears inside! The croissants were delicious, as we'd read from other reviewers! The side salads were very generously sized! It was also nice that the server could bring us oil and vinegar to dress the salads, when someone in our party didn't want one of their premade dressings. I got the portobello mushroom burger, which was decedent and delicious with pimento cheese on it. A very delicious meal! read more

The restaurant was beautiful, decorated wonderfully for Christmas. We were sat promptly. Waitress was very informative about the menu. Unfortunately we were sat right beside the bar where all of the servers would stand and wait around so it was a little awkward to eat with them all there. I ate half of my burger which was okay until I noticed a big black hair underneath the other half of the burger. I brought this to the waitress attention and she promptly took it and offered to replace it. As it turns out when my spouse picked up his blt there was ANOTHER black hair underneath his. We both have brown hair so at this point it was kind of ridiculous that it happened to us both. Didn't try the Mac and cheese but we did try the beer cheese dip and that was pretty good with the pita bread. So as always just double check your plates! The place is pretty cool and a lot bigger than you think! We had Jacob, not sure if he was newer, but the kid did pretty good. The food was pretty good! I had the half club and lobster/crab bisque (if I could have that every day, I would!) my dad had the yellowtail tacos and he said I was delicious and complimented well with the coleslaw, my mom had the burger with the pineapple on it, she said it was way better than Red Robin's burger with the pineapple on it, all of the deserts were delicious! So disappointed in Morgan's today. As a New Bern resident I frequent Morgan's often. Our waitress was simply awful. She could have cared less about our meal and service wasn't a word in her vocabulary. At one point I asked another waitress if she had quit! We were left at the table waiting and waiting and waiting some more for our food. I asked her was there a problem in the kitchen and all I got was attitude. I asked to see the manager and got the pat answer of " I'm sorry you feel that way "  I asked the manager why I wasn't given any coins with my change. I was told they round up the bill and rarely give change! This is the last time Morgan's will have any of my money. Small town stuff indeed. read more

Started our meal with the portobello chips which a refreshing take on an appetizer. Perfectly seasoned tempura batter then lightly fried. Served as a crispy chip with jalapeño ranch dressing. If you're not into spicy food, then their ranch is a perfect alternative. Their jalapeño cream cheese burger is a nice follow up. The cream cheese turns into melty gooeyness with just a hint of jalapeño and sweet BBQ sauce truly elevates the burger. Sweet potato fries with their cinnamon dip truly completes the meal. Whenever they serve their pot roast, get it! It will instantly transport you back to your childhood and the pot roast Momma used to make! Just don't tell her it's that good! My 7th visit and everything is great. 6 hours ribs, pork chop, chicken cordon bleu and my favorite salad entree, tropical chicken salad served in half of a sweet pineapple. This was our first time at Morgan's and it won't be our last! The atmosphere is fantastic, with lots of alcoves and rooms without feeling small or tight. The food was delicious, we tried the Turkey, Bacon and Raspberry sandwich and Sweet Hawaiian BBQ Sandwich, both of which we'd recommend and order again. Bar and high tops are first come, first serve and one had just opened right up for us. Server was phenomenal. Very attentive, large knowledge of the menu and specials. Dinner was delicious. I usually make my decisions on where to eat not only off of reviews but the pictures of the food!!! The pork chops and Mac and cheese is what sealed the deal for me so we tried that, we tried the salmon, the ribeye, and some cheese sticks and crab dip to start. I'm gonna be completely honest with you I don't have a single complaint not even one, right down to the croissants they give you before the food comes out. Absolutely AWESOME!!! Definitely would come back and try the haddock coming from New England I was shocked to see it on the menu and didn't until after we had ordered. I usually love Morgan's, but this was the first time we ordered carry out and it wasn't great. I got the tuna and shrimp stack and it was unfortunately way under cooked and stringy, inedible. My husband did get the creole shrimp and rice and he said his was pretty good. To be fair, it was a busy Saturday night. As me and my wife visit the cozy town of New Bern we find ourselves at a delightful restaurant. I got the turkey bacon raspberry sandwich and my wife got the Cajun chicken pasta. The sandwich was a wonderful mix of savory and sweet but I was eating off my wife plate more than my own! So if you come here I highly recommend the Cajun chicken pasta. The service was nice but a bit distant. For the atmosphere, it was great beautiful warm light mixed with natural sunlight and Christmas decor. Would recommend! read more

Our ladies group (Day Drinking Ladies of New Bern) have been coming to Morgan's for several months every Thursday. While we only order cocktails they go over and above service! Bartenders, Eve and Lauren, were excellent. They were happy to discuss their beer selections (and provide a taste), discuss cocktail suggestions and happy to serve a late night appetizer. Our waitress was very friendly. Prior to our meal we were served complimentary croissants with honey. I didn't know that was a thing, but I'm here to tell you it is a good thing! We ordered the Tuna and Shrimp entree and The "Greek" salad for dinner. The Tuna and shrimp was served over a scrumptious combination of black beans, corn, feta with some seasoning and sauces. I could have eaten that alone as a meal sans the seafood. So Good! The salad was your average Greek Salad, but good. The restaurant is housed within a building dating back to 1912.
