The food was very mediocre at best, the Shrimp & grits was a small portion with little to no seasoning although appeasing to the eyes the taste was flavorless. The pasta was more cheese than anything to throwing my daughter didn't eat it and decided to have some of mom salad. The Cobb salad was okay. Youngest had the corn dogs, which he ate all, but the fries was as if they just sucked up all the oil. Our server Cody was decent did what was expected of a server. The overall ambiance of the establishment was a bit droopy as if it needed a face lift or just mor lighting. We will not be back to this establishment. read more

We always enjoy our meals there!! The chicken fried chicken with green beans and mashed potatoes, salads, fried shrimp, chili, and the lobster bisque!!! Aw mannnnn!! Good stuff!! The ambiance is always nice. The place is clean, the lights are low, the tables are comfortable. Service has always been great as well. Very good French onion soup! I got a cup and it was very enjoyable! My broccoli quiche was good but my least favorite thing I had this visit. The chili option that came w the quiche was very cheesy and thick chili yummy. I enjoyed the chili a bit more than the quiche. The quiche Aldi came w fresh fruit which was yummy. We really enjoyed our first visit with Annabelle's Restaurant in New Bern. Fantastic food and great staff. We advise if in the area to visit and give them a visit. I do love to try new places to eat. Specially when it's a city that I don't normally visit. I did a search for a lunch place and felt Anabelles has a good yelp reviews. I had to wait just a few minutes to be seated, and they put me on this overhang that held tables and a drink station. For me, I have a fear of heights so the stairs and watching the people below wasn't plensent. The seeve was very plensent and showed great customer service. I tried the fried pickles and the dipping sauce has a little firery heat to it. But was delicious. The brisket was on a toasted brioche bun had the cheddar cheese that was dripping off the side. After getting a salad, Kathey then chose the fried shrimp with some sweet potato fries. I decided to get the French onion soup followed by the teriyaki chicken over rice with green beans and slivered carrots. The food was so good! It was hot and the flavors were amazing! The food is delicious. The atmosphere is decent. Our only complaint.... Especially on Sundays....nicely dressed folks coming for lunch after Church. Kids with nose rings and tattoos great them at the front desk. Waiters and waitresses are fully decked out in snake tats and skeletons and worse. Step it up! So this place would get 4 stars, but the service was kinda slow. Took a while to have waiter initially come to the table, and meal and dessert also seemed to take a bit. We sampled the Hot Crab Dip, the Spinach & Artichoke Dip, the Stuffed Mushrooms and the Seared Ahi Tuna. We even shared their Smokehouse Burger which was grilled to medium rare perfection! The presentation of the tuna on fried wontons was genius not to mention tasty and our group's favorite! The only item that didn't travel well were the fried pickles. Read the messages please and you will see...the owner finally stepped in on Facebook after reaching out to him/her multiple times. This person played it nice and lied saying I would get a gift card sent to my home...so I have my address...weeks later it hasn't come and won't! I stood up for this jerk owner when I shouldn't have...I was told I would get the money back on my card and weeks later I have not gotten a penny back on my card. They're liars, wait staff does not do their jobs. Everyone seemed pissy, but at least the pasta was good. Fried mushrooms were a nasty flop though...I'll never go back and recommend you don't waste your money and time going there! read more

Went to Annabelle's last night (May 5, 2024) and had the worst meal ever in New Bern. We arrived about 8:30 and ordered crab cakes and ribs for me. The soups were like warm and sent back. The food was tepid and the ribs were barely edible. The crab cakes tasted like an omelette rather than crab. I'll just close by saying the mgr heard my complaints. Gave me 25% discount. And promised to do better. This restaurant has been going down hill for quite some time. Go there only at your own peril. The young server was barely up to the job. I guess they don't train them very well. Unless I'm really desperate, I'll pass on Annabelle's until I read that it's improved. read more

Located adjacent to the area mall so if you do have to wait for a seat it makes the wait easier to walk around. I don't usually give bad reviews and I don't do it lightly. I SO wanted to like this place. My husbands boss talked it up and we had read decent reviews. What a disappointment. The crab appetizer was grotesque. It smelled old and was way too rich. The potato soup was out of a bag or made from powder, or made the day before. I took one teaspoon and left the rest. The pasta was awful . Super bland and only fresh ingredient in it were the few leaves of spinach in it . We are pretty sure the burger was frozen. This place seems like it's on the ropes. I know how tough it is to keep a restaurant open, but with these standards it won't be around for much longer. Huge menu of frozen foods. Will NOT be spending another dime in here. I have wanted to try Annabelles for YEARS. Finally was in the area this evening, so we have it a try. We were seated in the bar area just as you walk in. Took quite awhile for someone to come and take our drink order. We ordered our appetizer the same time as our drinks, and ordered our meal a little while later. We received our appetizer at the same time as our soup and salad. Soup wasn't hot...it wasn't cold, but definitely wasn't hot either. All of our food tasted good. Staff is younger and can tend to "forget" or have to be reminded - but I will say that this place is always busy, so I'm sure it can be overwhelming for them. On a work trip. Started with the hit crab dip. It was good but the portion was small for the $11.99 price. The side salad with ranch were good. Not as good as the Annabelle of old with their amazing salad bar. My husband had the shepherd's pie while I had the chicken fried steak. The shepherd's pie was probably the best ever. Not exactly traditional, but tastier. My only complaint about the chicken fried steak was the green beans were too salty.
