Being out of town we felt like at home. First we enjoyed an evening with tasting different brews they offer - I love hot spicy and the Jalepeno beer didn't disappoint, but loved they also had Selzer, cider, bubbles and super tasty CBD drink. I just adore trying out new things. Then the next day we had breakfast - wow their muffin and cinnamon buns were so delicious. We even went back on our second night too and had such a fun evening. It's such a great place to meet people and start sharing life stories. The staff is incredible attentive and friendly. The owner Pete the nicest owner you possible can find. You can tell his passion to produce the best quality products and to see his customers happy. Their mission to provide a community is a full success. We found a new home away from home and will be back! Thank you for having us!

This is the by far the best kept secret (or is it even?) in Eastern NC. We stumbled upon this place several months ago when venturing to New Bern from Greenville. Honestly, this place was almost made for pandemic life. Despite mostly being outdoors, it has a divey - and yet somehow coastal - atmosphere. Dogs are welcome. They even sell homemade dog treats! Great place to hang, especially in nice weather. There's a covered outdoor bar, picnic tables, and even corn hole. The place is situated within an alley, of sorts, adding to the charm. Regarding the beer - they have a good variety with lots of style choices. They have a rotating gruit, dark beers, light beers, and a seltzer etc. This was the perfect place for me to order a flight and test my beer knowledge. They even sell big flights (aka like you can try almost all with one order). Literally every one of their beers are phenomenal examples of their respective styles. Grade A. Delicious. Love it here Highly encourage anyone to buy the merch. It is so comfortable. Unfortunately for everyone who knows me, I can't take off my Brewery 99 sweatshirt now. My only regret is that I don't live closer. I guess it's a good thing, or I'd be here every day. It seems like there's a crowd of locals and regulars who hang here, and they seem welcoming and friendly to anyone who shows up. The brewmaster or owner (Pete) has always been around each time we've visited and makes sure to check in and have personal conversations about how we're enjoying the beer and our time there. I will be back, Brewery 99! I'm gonna make sure I come here at least 99 times! The hour long drive is well worth it for me.

It's a brewery, it's a bakery, it's both! As we travel around the country, we often find businesses we might not otherwise discover as we participate in the Harvest Host program that allows us stay overnight in these businesses. Such was the case with Brewery 99 (the 99th brewery in North Carolina). Hubby and I shared a flight of seven beers and we enjoyed all of them. Kyle the bartender gave me a taste of Lunatic with apocalypse and jalapeño peppers - I like spicy but wowza, this beer would have grown hair on my chest had I finished it! The next morning we were up early enticed by owner Pete's cinnamon rolls. He has found a way to combine his two favorite things in one business and has done it well! This place seems to attract locals and it was a pleasant atmosphere with good conversation buzz. Barley, Pete's dog greeted us in the morning with tail wagging and hoping we'd drop a bite of our cinnamon roll.

When you're in the town of New Bern, surrounded by what seems to be a retirement community and a city that shuts down at 8. You don't expect to find excellently crafted beer. Hidden away from the hustle of daily walking is this hidden gem. If you ever get a chance to swing by, make sure you ask for Duncan - the handsome beer tender/ amateur fire artist. He is as friendly as he is knowledgeable in the process and product that is being provided. Place has been open since 2015 and is on the rise to be one of the top must try breweries.

I hate to review this bar in fear of it becoming to popular, but Brewery 99 is 99% perfect. Four beers, owner greets you open arrival, small building that encourages conversations with strangers. It's like a dark, intimate sociology experiment with high gravity beer as the control. I'm not going to say much more than it's no frills with very good beer. If you like atmosphere and frills, this is not your place. If you like a chill vibe with very good beer than check it out.

Always great people at this brewery. Barley the dog can often be found with the owner Pete, making the rounds and treating everyone. On this particular night, for me, I was surprised with an out of town visit from a high school classmate and her husband. Cheers y'all!

@brewery99 features small batch ancient, traditional, modern, and spontaneous fermented adult beverages in a bohemian, relaxed atmosphere. Their new taproom on Pollock is shaded & more spacious than their original location & is a great spot to enjoy the New Bern sunset. #CraftBeer #LocalBrewery #NorthCarolinaBeer #SupportlLocal #shoplocal

There's microbreweries, there's nanobreweries, but I'm pretty sure this is a pico brewery. Super small quaint space in downtown New Bern. I came on my birthday (9/9!!) for a celebratory drink after riding the 50 mile bike ms event. This is obviously a loyal local hangout spot. Many of the patrons were chatting actively with the server. I never felt excluded though. Someone even offered to buy my birthday round. There's only about 4 beers on tap, but they are a small operation. I enjoyed my stout and then we went to dinner. I wish they had some merch for me to buy I'd love to rock a brewery 99 tee shirt!!

hard to find - but worth it!

Ask the Community - Brewery 99

Are there any non alcoholic beer options?

Water is the only non-alcoholic option they offer. They do offer a lower alcohol hard seltzer, Cosatalina Mist, which is very refreshing. When they food trucks are on-site, they do offer sodas.

They're adjoined with the Tryon Palace visitor center right there in downtown New Bern, so likely they're convenient for you. They have a decent, slightly obstructed view of the water but you can walk about 50 feet and be right on it. There is a large private parking lot, so no worries on that either. In general, the sandwiches there are darn good, and the few sides we tried (dill potato salad, and their pasta salad) were excellent. My reuben on marbled rye was straight up delicious, and you order yours based on how much meat you want on it. They use Boar's Head meats here, which while I think sometimes that is overblown, you can count on that level of quality. The thing though is this, it's gonna be a pricey lunch. They are full service, so count on tipping. Their prices for sandwiches are higher than what I'm accustomed to, even with my standards adjusted for the current life of everything be expensive that we live in in 2026. Chalk that up to waterfront dining and high rent I would imagine. In any case, if the sandwich didn't live up to the price, I wouldn't give it a 5. Tasted great, service was excellent, overall a very enjoyable lunch. Would return!

(Note give option of in or out we originally said in and changed our minds after walking around) they handle it above perfection! Our waitress Ridley M was super sweet comforting and understanding she was a 15/10 loved her personality and more!! Now side note this is a Major seafood restaurant (which yes I knew). I choose it for that reason as it was to celebrate not just the 4th but also my hubby who LOVES seafood. I do as well but I am highly allergic as in anaphylactic type allergic to ALL types. Ridley made sure the kitchen knew and the kitchen handled it 100000% I had NO ISSUES at all. I enjoyed my food beyond belief as did my husband! The atmosphere was on point the staff was above point frankly and the food yeah we will be back!!! Hubby got the fish and chips and I got the pork chop with asparagus instead of Brussels. Most amazing "date night" ever!!! Both of us are stuffed but not feeling heavy like. I honestly would give this place a 15/10 like on point 100%! To all on board... Our server Ridley, came to the table promptly, answered our questions and took our orders. Our drinks came quickly and were always full. The food arrived soon after our orders were placed. The presentation of our meals was terrific. Three diners in our party ordered the Fish Tacos and one got the Fish and Chips. It would be an understatement to say the servings were seriously generous. The fish & chips came 3 large fried fish filets and a heaping of seasoned fries. The taco orders each had 3 full vs mini sized soft tacos overflowing with fish filets...the fish was legit spilling out over both ends of the tacos! The fish was lightly battered, nicely seasoned and fried to perfection. The quantity of the food was so generous, only one of us could finish our meal!! On our way out, we stopped and spoke with the manager Kelsey. She is the spirit behind the "the new and improved" Persimmon's ethos. She took no credit for the changes or improvements and instead placed our exemplary experience squarely at the feet of her employees! It's obvious she's a wonderful, caring leader of the Persimmon's team. Cheers to Kelsey, Ridley and the Persimmon's crew!
