Since moving back to New Bern, we've come to love Savi's and shop here often. Ms. Cammie and Mr. John are so knowledgeable about all wines, are warm and friendly and go above and beyond to please their customers. Recently, I wanted a particular bottle of wine that's been out of stock most everywhere for a friend... Ms. Cammie was able to find the exact bottle I wanted and had it in store, wrapped and ready for curbside pickup in two days flat. Her communication through the entire process was impeccable and willingness to help me with my request was unparalleled. The prices at Savi's are beyond reasonable AND if you join their wine club they come at a great discount. They also have a wine tasting event once a month. Such a charming place and phenomenal addition to our downtown area. We love Savi's!

Wow, what an incredible wine shop near Tryon Palace! As you walk in you take a step back into the 1700s and experience a vast selection of wines from various regions across the globe! The positive: Cammie is the most knowledgeable wine expert in the area! Many options available. If she doesn't have it in stock, she will go above and beyond to find the wine and order it for you. Savi's offers a Wine Club / V.I.P. Membership which includes an overall discount on purchases, invitation to events and included wine tastings. Savi's also offers fine dining and wine pairing events. Curbside pickup is wonderful! The negative: N/A Overall I would highly recommend this place to all locals and tourists!

I was looking for a place to have a glass of wine with my mom on our day out in New Bern, and I did a lot of research before choosing Savi's. We are both very particular about the quality of wine we drink, and are tired of throwing money away in restaurants with extremely limited varieties of wine and inflated prices. Savi's was absolutely perfect. The shop is in a beautiful historic house and an entire room is lined with shelves of wine, all well-labeled and organized. You can purchase by the bottle or glass. The owner was very friendly and recommend several wines for us based on our taste - all of which turned out to be spot-on. We split a delicious sangiovese and Chianti blend, and ordered the cheese plate which had generous portions of different cheeses. You can sit inside or outside, but we wanted to sit outdoors to enjoy the beautiful weather so we grabbed a table in the garden out back. The table was trimmed with a white tablecloth and we were given quaint china for our plates (almost like tea time). The back yard is very large and has many places to sit, including some individual rocking chairs with tables beside them. You could definitely bring young children here and they would have plenty of room to run around and play. I plan to come back next week with my 16 month old daughter. Savi's is an ideal location for anyone looking for a relaxing experience with good food and remarkable wine. The prices were uncommonly reasonable and the variety and quality of the wines available were exceptional. I am so happy and relieved to have discovered this little gem. (I did spot some beer as well, so if there is someone in your party who doesn't drink wine they will not be left out).

I discovered this gem last time I was stationed here and it was consistently the best place I went to for wine. They always made my daughter and dog feel very welcome whenever I brought them along. And the wine is unlike anything I've tasted. I've toured wineries in Temecula and this is the only place where I'll easily come home with a case of wine. The gift baskets are amazing too. I watched it grow and expand over the course of three years and the quality of service remained amazing. I am happy to see the winery survived COVID-19 where many small businesses went under. Very excited to come back to this place and its employees!

Went on a Wednesday afternoon and it wasn't packed but they had quite a few customers. We called beforehand on the facility being dog friendly and they are! Bonus!! We were greeted right away. The owner was knowledgeable, down to earth and took the time to explain each wine tasting. For $10.00 you get to choose 10 wine tastings from the dry, semi sweet, and sweet section. We chose mainly drys and 3 from the semi sweets. Our tasting: -Porch Time (Viognier) -Sunny Days (Seyval Blanc) -Southern Exposure (Riesling) -Sauvignon Blanc -Fire Side Red (Blend of Norton, Syrah, Malbec) -Legacy Red (Cabernet Sauvignon & Merlot) -Legacy Blend (Cabernet Franc & Merlot) -Carolina Sunshine (Green Apple Riesling) -Summer Nights (Blueberry Pinot Noir Blend) -Miley Creek Red (Best served room temperature for semi sweets- wine using cocoa nibs) My fave was the Legacy Red and the Sunny Days that I had to bring home two bottles. Plus I purchases the Summer Nights for our neighbors as a gift. All at a reasonable price! If you are not a wine drinker and just tagging along, they do serve beer (not on tap). Mainly domestic bottles. They also sell local cheese and crackers. Connected to the winery is a gift shop full of cute decor, T-shirts and gift ideas. I really loved the patio and the screen porched area where you can enjoy your wines. Landscape is gorgeous that you can see the vineyards from where you are sitting. The inside is spacious and has a laid back feel. On weekends they have events with food trucks so check the schedule. 10% on half case of wines 20% for a case They do ship to most states. What a wonderful experience! I highly recommend you check out this place. You will not be disappointed. Hopefully we will back again next year when we visit My Mr's parents again.

We drove up the narrow lane, pulled into the small lot, and out came some wonderfully bounding dogs full of friendliness. Our hosts quickly took them inside (our dog was happy to see them from the car but the barking was a little much from him!), and we went inside for a delightful tasting. This isn't Napa, or Paso Robles - we're from California - but these are delicious wines, and we loved them. There's a great selection of locally made jams, which we stocked up on for friends, but it was the home-iness and kindness that we liked the most. We started as customers, and left - laden with wine that we've enjoyed - as friends!

We sampled several: the Norton (light red and extremely dry), mead, Coastal white (semi-dry), blackberry and blueberry. Both the berry wines are young but fruity. One should not compare this to French or Napa wines. All of the Neuse River Winery wines are simple, straight forward. They are drinkable. The coastal white pairs well with cheeses, fish or chicken. The two berry wines can be used as dessert wines. I was pleasantly surprised by how little after taste was detected. In the backroom I saw 5-gal carboys, 15 to 55-ga SS tanks. There are no oak barrels for secondary fermentation. I suppose these fruits are not ideal for malolactic fermentation. The wife has a quilt business and sells local products such as oil paintings, wine glasses, fruit jams and twinklets. Both husband and wife are simple people who are turning their hobbies into income producing activities. They were very hospitable. Don't expect bold wines or complex wines. The small quiet village is picturesque. It is about 28 miles from New Bern and 9 miles to the Cherry Branch Minnesott ferry terminal. Today the village had very few visitors. I plan to return to explore in the summer when more tourists are here. UPDATE: Don't buy any wine. They cannot be stored. Fermentation continued in these bottles leading to CO2 build-up and explosion. One bottle exploded on my dining room rack, spraying blueberry juice all over one wall, the rack, my dining room furniture and the hardwood floor. I have revised my rating to 1 star.

It opened back in 1972 and has been family-owned for three generations. Their wines are typically made from muscadine and scuppernong grapes. I learned that they also carry Mothervine Wine, which comes from clippings of the 400-year-old vine in Roanoke Island. Duplin Winery was allowed to take clippings from this Mother Vine and established a new vineyard. Legend suggests the vine may have been planted by Croatan Native Americans or settlers of the Lost Colony. Scuppernong grapes are a white muscadine variety that is North Carolina's official state fruit. Duplin Winery is also known as the winery of the South. There is a large parking lot. The building's exterior looks rustic. Inside, you will be greeted when you enter the door. Remember to get your basket or cart, as it is difficult to carry items without one. The first room has the wines and food products. They had a section for sampling the dips, salsas, crackers and other items. The other room has the wine tasting and gift shop. Then, beyond that, there is the Bistro. I was delighted to find non-alcoholic wines. They offered Muscadine cider, Scuppernong (white), and Muscadine (red). I left with all three. While I didn't get to try the specific Mothervine wine, I did get to try the Alcohol-Free Scuppernong at the Bistro, which features the same historic state fruit variety that made the Mother Vine famous! The gift shop has items to find those perfect gifts or just something for yourself. From the rustic charm to the friendly greeting at the door, Duplin Winery truly lives up to its reputation as the 'Winery of the South.' It's a great stop for the history, the gifts, and the delicious sweet treats.
