My wife and I checked this place out while on a trip through Carolina! The staff was FANTASTIC and the drink prices were some of the best in new been. We also checked out the game room on a separate night. They have great deals on Monday where axe throwing is 1/2 off. The boards & axes were well maintained and for a small upcharge you can throw knives too! My only knock down from 5 star is the price. Outside of Monday, $25 per person vs paying per lane is a bit steep, considering most places charge a bit higher but by the lane. I suspect charging for the whole lane would attract more groups. Also, we would have come earlier in our trip if we knew there was a game room! It rained all day one afternoon and when we searched for indoor things to do (pool, darts, arcade, pinball) this place never came up, we heard about it from a local at bear town market and came everyday after! Have never been axe throwing before and this place didn't disappoint. The owner is fantastic. He spends a great deal of time making sure everyone knows what to do and how to enjoy their time. There are tvs, a game room, and a bar adjacent to the throwing lanes. Discounts offered for teachers, first responders, etc. Can't say enough good things about this place. This establishment smells fantastic! That's what you first notice as you walk in, then the rustic simplicity of the lane set-up and and stumps that hold 4 axes at each lane. Once the staff makes their intros and begins to explain how/what goes on there at Beary The Axe-You're convinced. This definitely was a good idea! Oh, I know you're curious, yes, they do serve alcohol! Yup. If you were weary about going, either you're totally sold on it now or nooo way. My guess is, you're in. I was part of a 7 person party-males and females ages ranging from 13 to 52. The staff was very accommodating, informative, friendly and sported the (what you would expect at an axe wielding establishment) brawny-type, well groomed beards. My husband and I stopped in on a whim. Neither of us had ever been to ax bar. We were greeted by a friendly staff, who gave us all the ins and outs of throwing including safety tips. Both my husband and I did not get the hang of right away. When the attentive staff checked in on us, they gave us some throwing tips that really helped. After watching me throw the knowledgeable staff suggested I try a different ax and it made all the difference. I was able to play a few games and beat my husband best 2 out of three games. read more

While some of us came in with some experience and some having never held a hatchet before, the employees were more than accommodating at sharing with us the proper method. Once we got the hang of it, they shared a few games and let us carry on. With a nice bar alongside it with several drink options available, we definitely had ourselves a time. The only thing that gives this a 4 star is that the pricing is quite steep being each person is paying rather than simply applying a group rate per lane.
