They surprised us with two complimentary glasses of Prosecco, which were crisp, clean, and delicious. That thoughtful gesture alone meant so much to us. Afterward, I ordered an Old Fashioned, and my husband ordered the guava margarita. We couldn't stop laughing when the drinks arrived because everyone naturally assumed the margarita was mine and the Old Fashioned was his--but we like to switch things up! Both drinks were delicious. I'm particular about Old Fashioneds and whiskey sours. When one is made properly, there is a certain aroma that lets me know before I even taste it--and this Old Fashioned absolutely passed my personal test. It was perfectly made and strong enough that, after the Prosecco, I knew one was all I needed if we were going to walk into dinner with some sense! The aviation-inspired atmosphere made the experience even better. My husband is a pilot, so he especially enjoyed the Concorde theme, the aircraft-window views, and the simulation that made it feel as though the plane was moving and landing. The ambiance, drinks, and hospitality were all excellent. Thank you to the staff for remembering our celebration and making us feel special. We visited during the summer and got the s'mores kit, which sounded like it would be so much fun, but unfortunately, the little fire they brought out didn't work, so we couldn't even enjoy it. Their most famous drink was also not good at all. The only drink I really enjoyed was the watermelon drink, which came with a popsicle in it--that was actually pretty cool! The prices were extremely high for what we got, although that seems to be pretty common at a lot of places in Wilmington. I'd be willing to give it another chance during the winter because I could see the atmosphere being much better then. Our waitress was very sweet and attentive, though, and definitely deserves some credit! Overall, I just left feeling pretty disappointed because I expected more based on all the hype.

Outside, I asked, "Do you realize Dad dropped money?" Then I looked at my husband. "Honey?" "Yes," they said. "We saw it too." Marines are trained to assess a situation and respond, and that's exactly what they did. A cashier without integrity, someone willing to risk his employment over a couple hundred dollars is a sad and desperate person. As for that cookbook? I've never used it. It sits in my kitchen among all the others, as a reminder of what two Marines taught me that morning. And to that cashier, should you ever read this: Your sleight of hand--or foot, in this case--didn't go unnoticed. You weren't quicker. You're not smarter. You didn't fool anyone. The bread was so soft, meat was tender. It was served with crispy french fries. The sandwich was huge, couldn't finish all of it. I wish I could've had it for a delicious leftover sandwich the next day, but my toddler ate all of the bread and just left me with the filling. All of the pastries were good, especially when I warmed them up at home. They served them at room temperature on site. My favorite was the El Bori Pastelillo, a savory filling of ground meat and small pieces of white potato with a sweet glaze on the outside of the pastry. The other pastries I tried were called quesitos, danishes, and pastelillitos, according to the receipt. The quesitos had a sweet cream cheese filling. One of the danishes, I'm assuming, was like a doughnut with several layers, drizzled with chocolate. I also liked the other danish that had a sweet icing with fresh fruit on top. Wish this place was closer so I could frequent more!
