So, my daughter and I are very fond of Panera. This one is OK, not had any real issues. It does run out of stuff more than others I have visited. Recently, we started using the delivery service. It is a bit peculiar that when I have ordered sandwiches (full-size) I get two. The first on rye I explained away by the bread being a bit small. But I asked for bagel substitute for bread and got two! (Kudos for subbing the bagel even tho the website does not have that option.) When ordering online also be aware that the pastries which at the store discount to 99 cents are full price even with a sandwich order. Overall, OK although with delivery, tip and no pastry discount it gets pricey. read more

I entered Panera around ten minutes to 5 o'clock thinking it would be busy. A smiling, kind young lady greeted me and asked how I was doing. I was able to quickly order my food for my family where she was sweetly patient with me as I forgot to specify my side items that go with my choices. The food is always delicious and although very much expensive, the trip is always worth it and a treat! So grateful for the times my students gift me with a Panera card. read more

Food is fairly ok, but there are some major glitches in the handling of online orders; it's not unusual to have at least one thing missing (usually two). It's also fairly usual for them to sell out quiches in the mornings within a few minutes of opening -- they could use to track the actual requests vs the sales statistics. It's staffed by college students, so it's sometimes a challenge to actually get what you ordered. They're nice enough about it, but it's clearly a minimum-wage job that doesn't really inspire a lot of effort. read more

This Panera is so incredibly poorly managed. We often do rapid pick up for breakfast on the weekends. We've maybe only had a few times that it has gone smoothly. They are either out of something, leave something out of the order, or the best part ... the order isn't anywhere near being ready. This last time, we arrived 5 minutes after it said our order would be ready. It wasn't in the designated pick up area, so we waited in the 10 person deep line to find out what was going on. Our order (as well as another customer's) was sitting behind the counter. It just needed to have the pastries added to be completed. So two customers orders sat behind the counter for 20+ minutes for no reason. The time before that, we waited THIRTY minutes for our order. We love Panera and love the convenience of rapid pick up... but it is getting ridiculous dealing with these inefficiencies every time. read more

I haven't been to Panera in years but it is one of my favorite chains. They always have really decent soups, salads and breads and the atmosphere is great for any town that might not otherwise have any cool coffee shops or quirky places to socialize. The food is pretty consistent per brand stability standards. However, the service here is particularly poor. At the registers, we ordered two oatmeals. They gave us one (and we didn't find out about it until our uni-oatmeal order was up) which then set into motion a chain of events involving us waiting in (now a very long) line again. First thing in the morning, this is definitely most unbueno... Another thing I noticed, was a lack of attentiveness towards giving out silverware. If people ordered something involving viscous food, they'll probably be needing spoons... so give them spoons. It's just common sense. Because then, I look like an idiot stumbling around the dining area looking for the silverware station (I haven't been here in years, remember?!... so I don't know this stuff) until finally asking the clueless kid behind the counter who then tells me "Oh -- I have the spoons." I usually stop at the Panera in Hagerstown but stopped at the one in Winchester instead. I like panera and usually get soup and salad. This time, I just got the soup and my husband got the flatbread, a new menu item. The soup was unusually salty. The flatbread, which I posted a pic of, consisted of a slice of tomato, a few leaves of lettuce and arugula, and a small amount of pesto and cheese. It was mostly bread; really chintzy for 5 bucks. Certainly won't be stopping at this panera location, much less ordering that item again. The only reason I didn't give this one star is because when we noticed a mistake on our receipt, the manager quickly dealt with it. read more

I'm really sorry to have to post this review since Panera is one of my favorite "go to" places. Today while having lunch there I saw two things that made me loose my appetite. Over the coffee/smoothie station the air conditioner air exchange filters we're filthy. All three of them. Which leads me to believe that they never change the filters. Because who, in their right mind changes the filters and doesn't clean the air exchange. Panera usually keeps a very clean restaurant so this surprised me. The other thing was a mother in the booth across from me was changing her daughters diaper. Who does that? I wonder if she changes the child's diaper at home in the kitchen or dining room? Probably! While this is not the restaurants fault, still very unappetizing. read more

I placed my order for rapid pick up, was given a pick up time and confirmation email. I showed up 8 minutes AFTER my pick up time and my food was not ready nor was it close to being ready. The manager Matt Rittenour was very unwelcoming, not helpful and extremely short. I was told there were several orders ahead of mine, which in turn ended up being an additional 35 minute wait. I was on my lunch break, and like most people it's 30 minutes. That's not a lot of time considering you have to add travel time. So I now have wasted my entire lunch break with NO LUNCH and an extra 30 minutes for no reason. Matt was not helpful to the situation in any way. His staff stepped up to render help before he did and that says more about his leadership qualities than anything else. Overall this was a terrible experience and it was disheartening as I frequent this Panera often. read more

Did a catering order for our college team of 33! We called it in early the day of pick up and the manager Logan was very kind and helpful. I told him our budget and he helped me choose the right options for the players. We also had vegan and gluten free specific requests which he was able to accommodate! 10/10! read more

NEVER AGAIN! Having moved out this way from Fairfax, I was hoping the Panera here wouldn't have the same issue they all do in NoVa -- namely, people camping out at the booths for hours and not even eating anything. But this location is very close to Shenandoah University and, sure enough, at lunchtime on a Sunday, we were unable to get a booth while two students occupies two booths, one with her feet on the opposite bench. To add insult to injury, my Asian chicken half-salad had only 2-1/2 tiny slivers of almond and five 1" crispy noodles, so it was basically a bowl of lettuce with about 6 bites of chicken on it. My dressing (on the side) was a tiny plastic cup half filled, and I was given bread instead of the chips I order. I'm done with Panera. read more

Went here about a month ago. Waited for my food for almost 45 minutes. The manager on duty was an ass. He didn't even try to look for it and just told me my order wasn't on the screen. There's A LOT of things you'll probably notice while you're ordering, waiting and eating that'll make you wonder why you came her in the first place. Like why is the flavored coffee so damn bitter and the half and half canister empty? You've been standing at the counter for the last 2 minutes holding the thing to get it refilled so you can proceed to your table, but no, your being ignored, by what looks like underpaid staff who thinks you're ridiculous for interrupting their routine. If this isn't the scene of the morning, then it's a line a few people deep with one or two of the staff at the registers getting completely off track with an order. It's a distracted sort of thing. Something happens with one of their other team members and their attention is captivated. Now your giving your order and it's in one ear and out the other.. your repeating it over and over. After the third time you think they've got it, they repeat it in short hand and u just leave it to the gods. Whatever. When that damn square buzzer starts spasming across the table to alert the entire cafe area my order is ready, I realize how much I hate Panera's ordering system once again. Anyhow, the egg white bagel sandwich is worthy of a return visit and is definitely nourishing. The big fail and Panera's inability to deliver satisfactory cuisine and service, specifically during this visit. The prep "Cook"(?) failed to remove the frozen label from the steel cut oatmeal and left it in the in the middle of the gloop of the scoop of oatmeal. Thankfully when I returned said label to the manager he provided a refund for the cost of the oatmeal. Yeesh. I'd give it zero stars if I could. I love Panera Bread but this location is bad. Every time we have gone to this location no matter what time of the day the pastry racks are ALWAYS just about empty. The service is ok, employees are always talking amongst themselves or horsing around. The last time we went our food was first over cooked and burnt looking but freezing on the inside, the other order looked fine but was still frozen on the inside. They replaced the first order but only to get cold dry pasta again. We were told that there was a microwave located in the front. I thought it was rude...If we wanted to cater to our own food I could just do that at home. We've decided never to return to this particular location. The food is good but there are some drawbacks. Rare to see an employee cleaning tables. Getting to the soft drinks, ice and iced teas can be a struggle due to the very cramped conditions. And, the need to march your tray,leftover food, utensils, glasses etc. and sort them in a sometimes disgusting pile is a real downer. It is really a shame, because the food is good...but our service today was terrible thanks to one person, which ruined our lunch right from the start. Lex helped us at the register...she happened to say she could help us at the same time as the woman next to her, when we hesitated (not sure which register to go to), she rolled her eyes and said "here!" Little did we realize it would be an indication of her poor attitude/poor service we were about to receive. Having lunch with my mother and daughter...and not having been at panera in a while, we asked a few questions about the menu. She was completely annoyed by our questions and that we weren't moving quick enough for her, even though there was no one in line behind us in line. We ordered our meals and in the end asked for a a 1/2 dozen bagels. She rolled her eyes and said "what kind?" With a huff. My mother didn't hear her and asked for a loaf of the tomato-basil bread. Lex, now clearly annoyed said "no" abruptly, "the bagels!" Confused, my mom asked what she meant, not understanding she wanted to know what kind of bagels...then my mother gave her the 6 we wanted and again asked for the loaf of tomato-basil bread...to which Lex replied "you guys are killing me." It was all I could do to not to say anything and make a scene. With others now lining up behind us, I held my tongue. Here I am trying to have a nice lunch with my family and Lex is annoyed with is ordering MORE items on the menu.
