Paneras are one of the only establishments, that I know of, that has microwaves available for use. I will always buy something, don't get me wrong, but I do bring food from home bc ya girl Is tryna be healthy. This time around I brought breakfast and bought my fav Madagascar vanilla latte. An absolute TREAT for me whenever I come to Panera. So-- I rate a good Panera based on if there's readily available parking and whether they have microwaves. This one DOES! Also the staff here -- so sweet. It makes me very sad to see elderly people working :( but, they did make you feel very cared for and homey. If I find myself in Winchester, I always come here. Everything can improve! When we walked in about 9:30 a.m., no one greeted us. Instead, we were met with a screen at the front counter where we had to figure out how to log in and order our breakfast on our own. We saw the Five Cheese & Bacon Frittata in the case, including the new Pumpkin Cinnamon Roll and Caramel Pumpkin Slice. We proceeded to order without complication. We were not sure what to do next. I asked an employee who seemed overwhelmed how to get our drink cups and food and was quickly directed to wait near the pickup area where everything would be made clear. We waited 15 to 20 minutes and still received nothing. I asked if I could at least get our cups so we could have drinks while we waited. We got our sodas, sat down and checked a few more times before a manager named Chuck found us. He explained that they were sold out of most of the items we wanted (both 5 Cheese & Bacon Frittatas, the 4 Cheese Soufflé, and the Caramel Pumpkin Slice). He explained this because orders ahead of us were backed up and online orders took priority so when they got to ours they no longer had the supply to fill our order. I asked about waiting and if they could bake more, but I was told the baker is no longer on-site, and they couldn't make anything new. We were very disappointed to say the least, but we made alternative selections and proceeded to wait some more. We finally received our food and were yet again disappointed. The cinnamon roll came out stone cold! I asked the same employee who had earlier directed me to the pickup area if I could get this warmed. She replied, "Yes, the microwave is right over there," and pointed me toward the coffee area. I was taken aback by the lack of organization, customer service and care provided at this store. There also needs to be a better way to ensure customers receive the food they order and that items don't run out (especially after placing the order). It seems to me that a new system should show only available items on the screen, making unavailable items impossible to order. Lastly the restrooms were seriously horrible. The ladies' room was horrible, the toilet seat was so bad. I had to clean it myself before proceeding. It would be a huge improvement if you provided toilet seat liners! This Panera is extremely dirty. We sat at a table next to a window and there were dead flies on the window sill. We then moved to a booth, the table top was dirty. The food was good, but I was concerned that flies may have contaminated the food. The health inspectors need to visit this restaurant and make them clean it. read more

I've been a Panera customer for years, but today's visit to the Winchester, VA location convinced me to cancel my Sip Club membership. When I ordered the Green Goddess Salad, I simply asked to swap the dressing for balsamic vinaigrette. The cashier, clearly annoyed, said "so you don't want the green goddess," which made no sense since that was the salad I was ordering. When I clarified, she dryly said, "the dressing is called green goddess," with zero courtesy or understanding. Then she gave me the large drink cup--forty cents extra--despite my Sip Club only covering the regular size. I didn't bother correcting it. At pickup, when I asked where to leave the pager, the staff member pointed and said coldly, "over there where it says leave pagers." No smile, no basic hospitality. It's unfortunate, because Panera used to feel warm and consistent. Judging by recent reviews, this location has bigger management problems than a salad order. Pro: online food delivery app. Con: price, no utensil. Was at work and was looking through the DoorDash app for some healthy food. Options was very limited until I came across Panera bread salad. I ordered the Green Goddess Cobb Salad with Chicken half portion with no eggs. Upon opening the bag there were no utensil given which is a basic if you sending food. The meal itself was ok. This Mac and cheese in a bread bowl isn't even half full. When I asked them to top it off, they unapologetically said no. The manager, no more friendly, 'explains' that the Mac and cheese comes out of containers already premeasured at 8 oz. First, 8 ounces should be a child's portion. The only way an 8 oz portion would fill a bread bowl the way it's proudly displayed in their menu is if it's poured right over the top of a hole-free piece of bread. It's not like I hadn't already figured out that their entire menu comes right off a Sysco truck, and that all they do is pop the top, microwave, and serve, but I never would have believed they would openly brag about it. Picked up some breakfast before work and got a large hot chai latte and the egg white sandwich with avocado and cheese (added sausage). The sandwich was good and chai was all right. Ease of ordering is a plus, though prices are pretty steep ($8.50ish for a breakfast sandwich, $8ish for the latte). I got mine to go so the order was filled pretty quickly. Review: Disappointing Experience and Poor Customer Service I went to pick up a chicken noodle soup for someone with allergies, but I was given the wrong order -- a cream-based soup, which she's allergic to. When I called to explain the situation, they apologized and said they would fix the order and even include a pastry to make up for the mistake. However, when I arrived to pick up the corrected order, the person I spoke to simply handed me the soup without mentioning anything about the pastry. Another employee then came over and asked if everything was okay. When I explained what happened, that person offered me the pastry again, and the first employee awkwardly added, "Oh yeah, would you like one?" Overall, the customer service was disappointing. If a restaurant makes an error--especially one that could have caused an allergic reaction--they should go above and beyond to make it right, not act as if it's the customer's fault for not writing specific instructions. I ordered the steak sandwich and the sandwich only had 2 small pieces of steak on one half and a few more pieces on the other side. I have pictures of the sandwich before I ate it. I basically paid $19 for a meal and drink that was mostly bread. I've never been a fan of so-called "artisan breads," which is marketing lingo for "good luck biting through the crust." We enjoy Panera's soups, but the sandwiches are a wrestling match: tough bread with squishy fillings falling out. Today we spent $30 on lunch for two -- more than we spend, with full tip, at nicer restaurants with table service. For our money, we got two half-sandwiches, two bowls of soup (order taker didn't tell us we'd get bowls instead of cups, so this was a sad surprise), two bags of potato chips, and one beverage -- plus two bagels at $1 each (a special promotion). For $30, we picked up our own orders and bussed our own table, tossing a huge pile of unneeded napkins we'd been given. Next time we'll go to one of the many local restaurants that have great prices, wonderful bread, and amazing waiters. (Think Roma, Italian Delight, or any of many Mexican places.) The salad dressing was also too sweet. For dessert we ordered the Pecan Bun, which was good. They have a microwave that you can use to warm up the buns in. The hubs ordered the chicken chipotle panini and he was quite disappointed. There was a lot of orange cheese on it and it was not appetizing. I've been in here several times to eat and every-time I've been in I've had horrible experiences with some of the staff especially a woman named Susan. I've heard her say things to younger coworkers to the verge of tears. On Saturday March 11th, a younger worker was being trained and while I was ordering Sandra was yelling making her nervous and unable to continue taking the order. I think that it is imperative that businesses treat employees with the same respect and kindness they expect to be shown to customers. I hope that a manager is able to see this and deal with this because I've never seen an employee/manager so inconsiderate of a young girls feelings and I plan on never returning to specific location. read more
