We celebrated our daughter's birthday at Cafe Del Sol in their separate party room with friends and family last evening. My daughter was surprised as she entered the restaurant with a big Happy Birthday message from several staff members. The food was excellent! Our server, Misty, was prompt bringing food and drinks. Misty was very personable as she interacted with our party and took pictures after the meal. We are so fortunate to have this quality restaurant in our community. I have come to this establishment for years. Great people, even better service, until today. When our waitress Misti, walked by initially, she said she would be right back. Usually when we are seated, water comes quickly and you are greeted, not today. When I mentioned this to her, she became hugely defensive and would not be so friendly following this. We stopped for lunch at Cafe Del Sol on our way to North Carolina. Arriving at about 11:45 we found the front parking lot deserted and worried that it was another COVID casualty. In fact it was open but virtually empty. We were seated and served promptly. The menu offers lots of options, with soups, salads, pastas, and several other entrees, without much of theme. A bit of a problem with the lunch menu is that it's the same as the dinner menu, so portions are excessive for lunch. Our food, a Cuban sandwich with chicken noodle soup and an apple based salad, was very good but we only ate about half of it. The dining room is modern and new, and service was professional. Since we were driving we couldn't test the bartender or wine list. We'd return if given the opportunity. read more

I had lunch today at cafe del sol, for a Wednesday this place was packed! This place makes a good Cuban panini, came in already craving that. I also ordered crab chips, description on menu made it sound real good. Crab chips are an appetizer so they arrived first. One thing that stands out about cafe del sol is that they make their own homemade chips!!! So these crab chips were very delicious. Chips were freshly made, cheese was toasted down just right and not burnt, all toppings and the crab meat itself were all very delicious. For $16 it was well worth it the amount I received was enough for 2 people or more to munch on. My sandwich then came and it was also good however the bread was visibly burnt but not too bad where it was inedible. I wish the cheese was a little more melted on the panini but the ham and pork was cooked just right. The dining area is nice and open however from the time able I was sitting at, there is a wall that blocks my view of the bar and the rest of the restaurant. I was dining alone so it sort of felt like I was inside of a box. If I had more of a view to look at while eating, I think I would've enjoyed my experience a little more. My server was very nice but noticeably rushed due to a busy lunch service. read more

Stopped here at Cafe Del Sol for bar food, because according to the YELP app there was bar food here. There really wasn't bar food here so we got drinks instead which were quite good and since they give 50% off a dessert for checking in we got the tiramisu. My party sat in a booth and chatted while I hung at the bar and drank beer. Eventually we went around the corner and had our bar food. Pro: good food, nice staff, good atmosphere. Con: small parking lot. Decided to eat out tonight with the family and stopped by this restaurant after seeing a brochure. Once arriving the parking lot is kind of small and the inside lighting is low light giving off a rustic atmosphere. For appetizer, we order the bao sliders, mozza luna, calamari. The bao sliders were very tasty & juicy while the mozza luna was very crisp with a nice cheese pull. The calamari was very meh & the sauce gave it a tangy taste. For the entree I order the chicken Parmesan while my sister order the pasta del sol. The Parmesan portion was nice but once you delve deeper into the meal it start to go down hill. The chicken Parmesan sat on top of some spaghetti pasta and they both were very dry, could use some more marinara sauce to help with that. I also ordered a side of fresh cut fries which were a bit soggy but the portion size was nice. My sis had the pasta del sol and she describe it as eating sadness with every bite as she slowly dies on the inside. The pasta and chicken as she describe was dry and needed multiply refill of water as she try to finish her meal. On to desert, we order the " mini desert shooter" desert which is like a mini version of the strawberry tres leches. It tasted sweet and refreshing. All in all, an ok experience and most likely won't be coming back in the future. read more

After a long day of traveling to Winchester to visit family, we decided to stop at Cafe Del Sol for dinner! We started with the bao sliders, that honestly, unknowing to us at the time, would end up being the highlight of the meal. These airy puns were packed with delicious pork and veggies and made for the perfect appetizer. My girlfriend couldn't decide between two of the food items, the chimichurri steak tacos and the prime rib panini, so we got both! The tacos were a massive disappointment, as they were lacking with ingredients and mostly dominated by the fried avocado on there. It was tough to find any pieces of steak on the tacos, which was a huge let down. The prime rib panini had similar drawbacks since there wasn't much prime rib on there. However, if you want the best deal you should order the carnitas tacos (which can be seen in the picture of the prime rib panini), which were absolutely loaded and topped with an apple slaw. I was dying to try them but they were all finished by the time I got around to it! The service here made us feel a little rushed as well, and the atmosphere had dim lighting (which we all found unusual for a cafe called cafe del sol). read more

Excellent service by Megan! She was why I thought to give a few stars. The food was less than Panera grade food. From the outside it looks like a great restaurant, advertising gourmet pizza and excellent cuisine. The chimichurri tacos I had were bland and under seasoned, and presented on a broken plate. My husband's food was "Panera food at best". For the cost, this was absolutely not worth $75. My son's chicken tenders were burned, which we didn't realize until after our meal. Our server and front of the house staff were excellent. The inside was pretty dark too for an afternoon dining, it just felt heavy. So much potential with a cute location, I hope they take the criticism and turn it around to make the food taste as good as it sounds. This was my 3rd visit and overall I really just find most of it to be average. The staff is always friendly and attentive. The ladies seem to be outgoing and helpful. Ive not experienced bad service. The menu is unique with a variety of flavors and choices; quite a few options you wont find anywhere else locally. Their foods are always fresh; Ive never gotten that frozen, prepped 2 days ago or nuked taste. Portions are well sized for the price. Expect to pay an average of $12 per meal. Their guacamole is great. Fresh, chunky, well seasoned...just really good stuff. The nachos are covered with plentiful toppings, and like I said...fresh. That appetizer is easily a meal. The fries that come as a side are seasoned (not mentioned on the menu) and a little too much for mine and my lunch dates' taste. They seem like they're covered in an oregano mixture. Ranch is not my thing...kind of a sour taste to it. The Cesar wrap was my daughters pick; she described it as a little too bland and mentioned that some of the chicken chunks had gritty type tendon pieces. My panini was good...lots of meat, definitely filling, but a little too much salt to it overall. On a previous visit we ordered a pizza...really good. For sure some of the best pizza, flavor wise, Ive had. However, the crust was extremely thin and soggy so the pizza had to be eaten with a fork and the leftovers didn't reheat well. But, again, plentiful with the toppings and seasoned well. I think this was our final visit. Weve tried a variety of their foods and this just isn't a favorite. I do think that they're worth the visit even if to just try some of their unique menu offerings. Id stay away from the water...it definitely has an odd, unfiltered, city taste to it. read more

I got the Chicken Rice bowl because I felt like being healthy for a change and it did not disappoint. This is a spectacular place for any type group or gathering. We ordered awesome calamari and ahi tuna tostadas for appetizer and that was great. I had the chicken quesadillas and they were extremely tasty. Others with me ordered salads and paninis and burgers and they said they were excellent. Misty served us and since she has worked there for all eight years the restaurant has been open she is extremely knowledgeable and really gives personalized and instant service, thanks Misty I hope everyone else also tipped you well, you deserved it!
