Large, clean dining room with tables spaced apart nicely for privacy and comfort
    Rachel M.

We weren't planning to stop in before our movie at Alamo Drafthouse, but a margarita sounded good...and Altos de Jalisco did not disappoint! Seating was immediate, and the large, clean dining area has tables spaced apart nicely, so you can have privacy and easily hear your dining companion. Our friendly, attentive server recommended the Altos Fresh Margarita, and fresh it was! Hands down the freshest margarita I've ever had. After snacking on their unlimited, not-too-salty chips and salsa, our tacos arrived. Three tacos per plate, topped with the traditional cilantro and onion, served with Mexican rice and refried beans. I love how generous they are with the cilantro, and the corn tortillas had the right texture (read: not too thick but didn't fall apart the minute we picked them up). Strongly recommend the al pastor, and (always) ask for extra lime. Boyfriend and I agreed - we found our new taco spot and will be back for another round of Altos Fresh Margaritas! Tip: Get the super fresh guac and request limes to squeeze on top.

Dined in on a Monday night and boy was it packed! Nonetheless service was incredible. They always start you off with chips and salsa which is always good because the chips are nice and fresh and the salsa is so good. Decided to have chicken fajitas and it was good. The rice and beans were seasoned and delicious not to mention the chicken and all the vegetables! The tortilla was made in house and it was fresh and hot. Of course I had to try their passion fruit mojito which was so refreshing! I have 3 favorite Mexican restaurants in Winchester and this place is in that top 3 list!

This location has a large seating area and a large bar that would be great for events with family or friends. On a Saturday night, my family of 6 was seated within minutes and they are well staffed which made the experience all the better. The Beria taco meat was a bit tough and the tortilla fell apart as soon as it was folded, but that was the only downside to the meal. Everything else was great and the portion sizes are great.

SO BOMB! My absolute favorite spot to go. Hands down the best and most authentic Mexican food I've had. And I've been to a lot of places! Everyone is always super helpful and kind. We get seated right away. The place is large enough for lots of people but you never feel crowded. Very cute and cozy. Great for family or a date night! Nice big bar. Highly recommend. The flavor on the food... superior!

I have one complaint about this restaurant which was the waiter was very frazzled and kind of mean at the beginning because we did not know what we wanted to eat (mind you we had never been there until this visit), his attitude eventually changed and he was funny and pleasant. My daughter and I came here for dinner on a Sunday. The place was packed almost all the seats were taken which is a good thing. When we sat down we noticed the Christmas tree was prominently displayed and the current NFL game was playing. The restaurant was loud but not too loud but loud enough to know it was busy. The chips came out hot and the salsa was flavorful and very good, not too spicy not too bland but just delicious. The chorizo dip we ordered was delicious warm and creamy and a perfect consistency. Both of our food was great it came out semi quickly but in enough time that since this was a busy day we weren't waiting outrageously long. The restaurant was clean, food was hot, full of flavor and worth the drive out here from my home. We are definitely repeat visitors !!

Taqueria Guadalajara has a bit of a tucked away location just on the outskirts of Winchester,…read morewhich gives it that standalone, local spot feel. While having its own building is a plus, parking can quickly become a headache during busy hours, so timing your visit makes a difference. Walking in, there wasn't a host present, which made the entrance feel a little unorganized at first. However, a server quickly stepped in and pointed us in the right direction. From there, the experience improved the service was genuinely friendly and attentive, which helped set a positive tone for the meal. The burrito was the highlight. It came out well prepared with solid flavor throughout, even though it didn't include any sides. Normally, that might feel like something is missing, but the taste was good enough to carry the dish on its own. Pricing leans a bit on the higher side, which is something to keep in mind, especially given the lack of extras. Overall, Taqueria Guadalajara delivers where it matters most good flavor and friendly service even if it has a few logistical hiccups like parking and the initial lack of greeting. It's the kind of place that leaves you debating between a 4 and a 5, but the quality of the food ultimately pushes it into 5-star territory

UPDATE: After getting a lovely response from the management…read moreat this location through Google reviews, I decided to give them another try! My friend and I had lunch there yesterday. I was pleasantly surprised with this experience. I ordered the chicken enchiladas with the molé sauce and my friend ordered the shrimp tacos. The presentation of the enchiladas was impressive and the shrimp tacos looked tasty! I loved the sauce on my dish and the cheese/queso. I was full after 2 and a half of the enchiladas. It came with 4. My friend filled up on 2/3 of the tacos. Soni was our server and she did amazing! She was sure to keep our waters filled and was consistently checking in with us. The cleanliness of the restaurant and bathrooms were still impressive, despite a couple of crumbs on the table when we sat down. The chips and salsa were still my favorite part. I can be pretty picky when it comes to salsa but I love the texture and taste of this salsa. The chips always come out crispy and fresh! We were there at lunch time and the restaurant was not super busy. I'm glad I gave them another try! My husband and I love mexican food and were excited to try this location. I was very pleased with the environment when we walked in. The staff was welcoming and the restaurant was beautiful. I was excited to get seated in a booth immediately on a Friday at around 5. I will also say that the bathrooms were incredibly clean! My husband and I both ordered tacos, but we were disappointed to find out they were out of the Birria tacos. I was shocked because it seemed early enough on a Friday for them to not be running out of items. I ordered chicken tacos and was not impressed. They were very bland and didn't come with much to add to the chicken and tortilla although, the plate was presented beautifully. My husband ordered the fish tacos and while he did enjoy them, they were also quite underwhelming. The service was not exceptional. I had to ask for water multiple times and as I was once a waitress myself, I was always taught water should be served immediately. I also had to remind my waitress 2 times that we had ordered the queso. It didn't come out until we had already received our food. Despite this, the chips and salsa were actually quite tasty and kept us satisfied. The server did bring more chips when we were getting low and was attentive to my soda and my husbands beer. I did feel the waitress could've been more attentive, but she was very kind and cheerful. I feel it's also important to note that the restaurant did not seem to be busy. I was happy to find that for two orders of tacos, a beer, and a soda, the bill was roughly $50, plus a $10 tip. While my husband and I prefer other Mexican restaurants in the area, I am glad we got to experience El Habanero.

It doesn't have the most inviting exterior, and stepping inside, it feels a little unclear whether it's primarily a grocery store or a restaurant. It's a mix of both, which gives it a unique character, but it can also feel a bit unpolished. The interior felt dark overall, and the space seemed more oriented toward quick service than a sit down dining experience. They do have a drive thru, which is definitely convenient if you're just grabbing takeout. In fact, the whole setup felt very geared toward carryout rather than dining in. If you're looking for something fast and easy, that part is a plus. As for the food, I ordered the burrito deluxe, which came with two burritos but they were closer in size to tacos than what you'd expect from a traditional burrito. The portions were smaller than anticipated, and overall the food leaned heavily on salt, which took away from some of the flavor. The food wasn't bad , but it wasn't anything great They also don't offer complimentary chips and salsa, which is something many people expect at Mexican restaurants. On a positive note, the lady taking the order was very nice and welcoming, which made the experience better. Overall, Reynosa feels more like a convenient takeout spot than a full dine in restaurant. It may work well if you're in a rush and using the drive thru, but if you're looking for a more traditional sit down experience with ambiance and generous portions, it might not fully meet those expectations.

Last time I found such awesome undiscovered Mexican food was at a sketchy taco truck in CT parked outside a strip club. A few months after my first review of that place it shows up on TLC's best food trucks in America. Back to this place. Fantastic street taco style food. Delicious, homemade goodness. Flavorful tacos in handmade tortillas. Al pastor tacos were on point. The quesadilla's are made with a handmade corn tortilla and fresh cheese. A crispy outside with just the right amount of crunch. A bit chewy on the inside with a flavorful bite of creamy cheese and perfectly marinated meat. I'll be making frequent trips back here for the quesadilla. You can also get it in a flour tortilla if you want to rob yourself of the corn experience. A couple salsa options along with chopped onion and cilantro. Plenty of Mexican sodas in the coolers and a few tables to sit and eat. A wide selection of Mexican candies and other grocery items as well. I ordered the $5 quesadilla with carne asada (steak) which is made with a freshly made corn tortilla and the sweet lady cooked up the strips of steak on the spot. Odelay vato, great decision! I wasn't expecting juicy, flavorful tender steak nestled in a generous helping of jack (I THINK!) cheese. With some fresh cilantro, onion, green & red sauce, and the always-important-lime, it was all goooooood. I ordered a second for my son who was about to finish up a lacrosse practice and he was like, "where the heck did you get this from; it's weird but awesome!". The weird came from the homemade corn tortilla. Usually queso's are in flour, but I had no complaints and one thing I know about Mexican food is that there are so many regional varieties you have to be an idiot to think you know what it "is" when you see or taste it. Where I have my own SoCal sensibilities from growing up on Baja-style (Tijuana, Ensenada, Rosarito Beach, Cabo San Lucas, etc.) Mexican food, I dig stumbling on something new and I'll give my fine amigos & amigas at El Torito a hi-cinco for some good eats tonight. Oh, and the verde (green) sauce was phenomenal. Sorry, no pics of the food, I was desperate to tear into it and after a few bites...decided not to be THAT Yelper. Next time... Also, CASH ONLY! Maybe it should be called Very Voluptuous Vegetarian or Plant Based in that case because no vegan will want to "make it guilty". Tasteless self aware tone deaf wording but that's the smallest gripe. The vegetables taste fine but nothing in it has flavor. The rice is bland plain white rice(no lime, cilantro, not even salt is perceived), the beans don't taste seasoned with anything either(no onion, cumin, garlic, paprika, or even salt you can taste), the pickled onions are a nice touch but there needs to be more of them to compensate for everything else lacking, and the supposed poblano sauce doesn't stand out at all(just acts as a moistener). The salsa is fine, nothing special(tastes like store bought). The chips are reminiscent of oversized Lunchables nacho chips, not necessary, if they were made in house they would be better. The hibiskey sour is really good though! I might come here for mixed drinks and skip the food. My Husband is an omnivore and feels the same about what he has ordered here as well, so not exactly a fluke with that one menu item.
