This was quite the fine we stopped randomly while travelling and struck gold. I think we were the only non-Spanish speakers in the restaurant, which is a great sign. We were a little adventurous in our ordering and ended up loving everything we tried. Great service. Our waitress was really nice. Little hole in the wall restaurant with a mini grocery store in the front where they sell Mexican grocery items. They even have a shelve of colognes that they sell, haha. Worth going to if you want to try a locally-owned Mexican restaurant in Winchester. Highly worth it. read more

Amazing food. Great service. While driving back to PA we stopped in for a quick dinner. What a great choice. The salsa was perfect (although the chips, while fresh, were a bit oily). I had the fried tilapia as my son had the Birria tacos. Some of the best ever. The tortilla was thick and flavorful. The fish was crispy but tender and flaky on the inside, and the green and red sauces were so fresh and delicious we could have drank them. This is a review based on a grubhub order over the weekend. Sorry, no pictures for this review. It was the weekend, later in the evening and I was super hungry. I have eaten at 3 Mexican restaurants in Winchester so far. All 3 were mediocre. So glad I found Antojitos Mexicanos. This is the MOST AUTHENTIC MEXICAN FOOD I have experienced in WINCHESTER VIrginia. And the funniest part about it is it was a delivery order. So let's talk about their amazing food. I had 4 tacos, a quesadilla and a churro. All were fantastic. Two of the tacos were steak, omg delicious, one was pork which included a little of the skin, scrumptious and one turkey. Since the descriptions were in Spanish I didn't really.mean to order the turkey. I am not a fan, but OMG how good it was. The quesadilla which had steak in it could have been a meal all its own. Everything came with a red sauce and green sauce, both were hot and complemented the meal., raw white onion, cilantro and radishes. When I say the food was amazing. It really was. Came with my wife and our moms, and had guacamole and a quesadilla to start, then ordered 12 assorted tacos. Service was provided by the proprietors 2 young daughters - very cute, and well tipped!. The guacamole was so good, we ordered a second order. The quesadilla was above average, but paled in comparison to the rest of the food. The tacos were all good, especially the barbaresco (sp?) tacos. Note that the tacos are small, like street tacos, and they have double tortillas to hold up better in your hand. This place reminds me a little bit of home. Everything is decently priced. I first got their chicken mole which is wonderfully flavorful. Their rice is by far my favorite of all the Hispanic restaurants in the are. Well seasoned and fluffy. Tortillas are made fresh. Their tacos are delicious too! Chicken can be a little bit more seasoned but their little meat options are really good. I've also had their tamales, which a part of me wanted to cry because of how good they are. Order was supposed to be 35 minutes. Waited an hour and 15 before calling. The first call, I was hung up on when I mentioned I was asking about the status of a delivery order. The second call, I was told that the delivery driver was leaving right then and THEN I was hung up on. I'm not going to give repeat business to a company with people who can't answer questions politely asked. For completeness, the person who delivered the food said that the previous person did not know where the address was. The food itself was fair. Not great, but not terrible either. What a find!.. I'm visiting my parents in Winchester and we wanted to try Antojitos restaurant after reading SO many awesome reviews.. Let me tell you.. We were NOT disappointed at all!!.. We all had the Gorditas.. 2 with chicken... 1 with carnitas!! And a side of guacamole... as fresh and homemade as you can get.. Seasoned perfectly!!.. Rocio the chef/owner came to our table to check on our thoughts on her food!! We gushed over the gorditas and the homemade sopes and she explained her fresh concept on cooking authentic food from Puebla, Mexico...Our waitress was also wonderful and accommodating.. I work as a food and beverage manager at an upscale private country club and the food and service was right up there with the best!..The graciousness of the owner/ staff is truly worth of 5 stars..Here's to much success and many more years in Winchester!! Amazing authentic Mexican street tacos! We've been looking for something like this for ages and finally found it.

Excellent flavor on everything we tried, and the staff is very friendly and welcoming. Tortas take up the first part of the menu, and my wife tried their Cubana. I was surprised at how good it was. Not quite like other Cubans I've had before but amazing as it's own pork-sandwich-thing. I saw an amazing looking picture of a burrito in the photos here, and was sad that I didn't see a burrito section, but the guy pointed to the lone burrito in the vegetarian section and said they'll put any meat in it. The carnitas was a good decision, if I do say so myself! We also tried the pork tamale and the shrimp taco, all very good. The freshly-made agua fresca was also delightful. They're definitely getting better watermelon than I am! After my first visit, this is my new go-to Mexican restaurant in Winchester. read more

If you want some GOOD Mexican food just go ahead and stop here. The food we've had here has been amazing. Enmoladas and Gorditas have been our go-to orders. Try them and I promise you, you will not be disappointed. The cactus salad is fresh and appetizing. My kids love their quesadillas made with fresh corn tortillas. The restaurant was clean. The menu is bilingual but one page and easy to read. The flautas were great, a menu item we don't regularly see elsewhere! The chicken gorditas we're great. The carne asada tasted great, the refried beans were fresh and appeared to be made and not canned. The sauces, rice, beans, vegetables were all fresh. Our meals were served hot. The pineapple fruit water wash fresh and great. They make their smoothies fresh with fruit the prepare on-site. A super friendly family runs this brand new Mexican neighborhood restaurant near downtown that is destined to be a new local spot for me. It's small and intimate but very clean and everyone makes you feel at home as soon as you walk in the door. The menu is in both English and Spanish and after having tried several dishes everything tastes really authentic. You may have to ask for their green sauce but it is so dang good and they have a super smoky (chipotle?) red sauce that I absolutely adore. Yes Virginia you can get real Mexican food locally. The only thing is you have to drive to Winchester to get it. Antojitos is the second Mexican restaurant I've tried in Winchester and it is legit. This place serves authentic Mexican street food. After living in San Antonio, TX (home to the best food in the nation, seriously there's a reading I it's the fattest city in the USA) we got spoiled on good Mexican food. After moving back to NOVA, Loudoun county, we looked and tried places for 10 years and all we could find was Salvadoran food being sold as Mexican. Now there is nothing wrong with Salvadoran food but it's not Mexican just like Vietnamese is not Chinese. There are some outstanding restaurants in Winchester wish I had known 10 years ago. read more

The BEST tacos I've had since living in California. One of the top reasons my family misses CA is the taco trucks with the cheapest, most delicious tacos you've ever had. Antojitos Mexicanos is on par with those trucks. Served hot and fresh, with barely a hit on your wallet. Highly recommend the tacos with carnitas as well as the tamales.
