What can I say....its hard to find a delicious Spanish food restaurant here in Winchester. Not overpriced like Guadalajara or lacking in flavor like el ranchero. Reynosa not only has you feeling like family but has you leaving feeling like you just left your grandmas home. I love the old school grocery store/hidden gem restaurant in the back theme. We've been here countless times and the man who owns the restaurant is always very pleasant and kind. The ladies in the kitchen are always very friendly and efficient. Pupusas are the best in Winchester and taste delicious. Tacos are great! The drinks are fresh and flavorful. I recommend the tamarindo! Our favorite is their chips and queso ! We were on a multi-day road trip and Winchester was our midway stop. This is a very small market and restaurant and appears family run. There were a few tables for eating in but we were getting take out back to the hotel. We only got to try the fish and shrimp taco meals, and an order of guacamole, but were very satisfied with the food, service and prices. Reynosa Mexican Restaurant is located on Valley Avenue in an older building that, from the outside, looks a bit worn down. It doesn't have the most inviting exterior, and stepping inside, it feels a little unclear whether it's primarily a grocery store or a restaurant. It's a mix of both, which gives it a unique character, but it can also feel a bit unpolished. The interior felt dark overall, and the space seemed more oriented toward quick service than a sit down dining experience. They do have a drive thru, which is definitely convenient if you're just grabbing takeout. In fact, the whole setup felt very geared toward carryout rather than dining in. If you're looking for something fast and easy, that part is a plus. As for the food, I ordered the burrito deluxe, which came with two burritos but they were closer in size to tacos than what you'd expect from a traditional burrito. The portions were smaller than anticipated, and overall the food leaned heavily on salt, which took away from some of the flavor. The food wasn't bad , but it wasn't anything great They also don't offer complimentary chips and salsa, which is something many people expect at Mexican restaurants. On a positive note, the lady taking the order was very nice and welcoming, which made the experience better. Overall, Reynosa feels more like a convenient takeout spot than a full dine in restaurant. It may work well if you're in a rush and using the drive thru, but if you're looking for a more traditional sit down experience with ambiance and generous portions, it might not fully meet those expectations. read more

Got the Wednesday pupusa special which is a good deal for $2 each. I got the beef soup based on reviews and that wasn't the best. The beef wasn't tender, the yucca was hard and the carrots/green beans were rubbery. I can tell the carrots were from the freezer....I've eaten plenty of frozen/reheated carrots to tell when they have been frozen before. The green beans were from a can. The pupusas were pretty good so I bumped it back up 2 stars after trying them. read more

I love this place. Their soups are total comfort food. Someone with a lot of experience has been cooking these family recipes. Everything is well done. I favor their Salvadoran options, but TexMex meals are great. Their pupusas are excellent. When anyone comes down with a cold in our family - we go get Reynosa's chicken soup - its a quick cure! This is a once a month place to put into the rotation, large portions and friendly staff. We take out but the seating area has grown to meet the demand - reducing the size of the store section. This was a great place to eat!!! They accommodate our special requests. The portions were huge. We got a buffet and enjoyed each item... the beef soup had the largest prices of vegetables and beef. All flavorful and the beef was tender. The picture is of the carnitas fajita and I added the bacon-wrapped shrimp. Those were a tad spicy because of the jalapeño; but ultimately very well cooked and delicious! Oh and the btw... the beef soup is a meal all by itself! Healthy if you're feeling ill. This restaurant gave me the impression that their focus isn't on the interior decor but instead the food, which for me is just fine. The chips and salsa were good; however, I felt the salsa could use some extra heat. My server brought me a hotter salsa and it lit me up! I ordered the crispy beef tacos and proudly proclaimed them to be they best tacos in Winchester! Not only will I go back, I'm going to give them a try on a Thursday night when I can buy tacos for just a dollar a piece. New in town my fiancé and I were looking for an authentic spot that would meet our Latino tastebuds. At first impression this place is in need of some upgrades and tlc and you may think twice before coming in.. it appears it may have been an Arby's at one point and no new upgrades were done when taken over. However, it was very clean and when looking for authentic food we were not primarily concerned with the decor. Great service, food took long enough to know that it was made to order. The food was delicious. We shared one pupusa my dish was a typical Salvadoreño breakfast. My fiancé got a deep fried fish. Fresh made tortillas and great sides! We were both savoring every bite. I visited this restaurant on Thursday night. I didn't notice that Thursday they have $1 tacos until after I received my order to go. I ordered the beef enchiladas and chips & salsa. As noted, the restaurant isn't a beauty queen but decor is the least important when visiting a restaurant. I arrived around 1:30 and found a sole patron in the dining room. I ordered two Pupusa Revuelta and a drink and secured a table. The pupusas arrived fairly quickly accompanied with a side cup of slaw and a squeeze bottle of salsa. The pupusas were piping hot, directly from the griddle. The taste was excellent and at $1.99/ea, a great value. Two pupusas covered almost the entirety of a dinner plate. Most impressive is that the second pupusa remained piping hot despite taking my time to eat. The slaw, a vinegar based variety offered a nice crunch. Ugh, I've discovered yet another bad restaurant in the Winchester area. I moved here a couple years ago, and it astounds me how bad the local restaurants are. I tried this restaurant based on the reviews, so I gladly put aside my apprehension, and ordered the chicken enchiladas. The chicken has a really weird taste. I's not a spice, but something I can't find the words to describe, but put it this way, it went into the trash bin. This place may be worth 4 stars, but I'm going to start conservative until I can come back again for a possible uplift. I was really in the mood for a more vegetarian approach (bean something or other) and they didn't seem to have anything that fit that so I ordered the chicken burrito. The chicken was very flavorful, but a little on the dry side. It had lettuce, cheese, and a small amount of beans--but there was some other sauce that was really good. I was feeling a bit off that day so I didn't ask what it was or have the mental spark to figure it out, so I have determined to come back soon. This is a family business and the waiter guy was very kind and clearly wanted to make sure my experience was great. If you only order one thing here, order a papusa! It is a thick corn tortilla, stuffed with savory fillings. We had pork and cheese. If that was all we ate, I'd have left a happy man. However, I also stuffed my face with a platter of awesome carnitas tacos with rice and beans, so I left beyond happy. I eat here every Thursday for their taco special, the food is honestly really good. The only thing that makes me knock it down in rating is that if you have a large order call ahead of time, and then call again to make sure they make the order on time. We just happened to drive by yesterday and glad we stopped! We had the homemade guacamole and the fish tacos with homemade corn tortillas and it all was amazing. We saw that they made homemade pupa's so we order a couple of cheese ones, but we were stuffed after our tacos and took them home. My wife and I ordered the Salvadoran breakfast which was delicious. My daughter ordered the shrimp quesadilla which she raved about. I have ordered from here a few times but I ordered Pupusas on a Wednesday when they are on special . I always order online because it is an option . I came over half an hour later to pick them up and when I get here the lady tells me that they haven't even started on my order and that she had phone orders she put it first . I told her what was the point of their online order and she said it wasn't their priority but rather orders done over the phone . She told me it would be another half and over for my order and she didn't even seem to care she gave me the option of waiting for them or she could cancel the order . This is rediciousl.
