This is the 3rd and last of the 3 sit down Mexican restaurants in Front Royal that we have tried. We started with chips and salsa and a surprisingly tasty coleslaw. They had a $5.50 lime margarita special....did not need the 2nd one but yummy. I ordered the Rancho Nuevo Fajitas - there was plenty for two people to fully enjoy and still bring some home. Wonderful flavors, the char added an extra yumm factor She had the Asada plate and enjoyed every bite. A nice thin steak cooked perfectly with the perfect amount of sides to stuff the tortillas. To top it off we had a tasty flan. I would have preferred a warm sauce over the top but it was still enjoyable. Out of the 3 Mexican restaurants this has become our new #1, the salsa bar has won us over. read more

Stopped here on the way back from Harrisonburg VA. Our daughter recommended this place. My husband had a burrito and I had a combo meal. Perfect for the undecided. Food was great. Prices are reasonable. Restaurant is spacious and clean. Lots of decorations to provide that Mexican restaurant feel. Staff were friendly and efficient. This is a great stop to satisfy your hunger and get some rest before continuing your trip home. I strongly recommend you stop here and give this place a try. Must mention plenty of free parking and my husband loved the homemade coleslaw dip that came with the chips. Finally, they are open until 10:00pm. Perfect for the late night trip. read more

Our new favorite Mexican restaurant hands down! Everything about it is excellent! The restaurant is a nice open space, it's clean, the servers are so friendly and so attentive. The food is absolutely delicious and the prices are so reasonable!! We have several Mexican restaurants in our area but we will drive the 40 minutes every time bc it's so worth it!! What a disappointment this place was tonight. We ordered Tacos, 1 shrimp, 1 pollo asado, & 1 carne asado, and 3 chili relleno's, guacamole and chips. Pretty simple order. It didn't work out that way. No rice and beans, no tomatoes, no guacamole, not a lime in sight. The food was cold The chili rellenos were mid. Everything was pretty bland and lifeless. The best thing was the chips that were missing the guacamole. If I could offer advice, fire your cook and get someone who cares about the food. read more

This Mexican restaurant is a nice place with good food. It's not a fancy place, but it is clean. They have pretty much all of your standard dishes. The salsa is good and they are quick with more chips and salsa if you eat it all. The do have a kids menu with cheeseburger and some other standard fare if you have kids that don't like Mexican food. read more

Excellent is one word. We went for lunch on a Saturday. Service and food were excellent. Draft beer is cold. Restrooms are clean. I really like that that they have a Salsa bar with probably fifteen choices to try from. The bill for Fajitas for One + two beers was just under 30 dollars. We stumbled upon this place after driving around for a while from Washington,Va (there's no cell service in the area!) but were happy they had open outdoor seating on a Friday night. The food was good - loved the table guac (which they made in the kitchen, I'm guessing due to covid) and the tacos were tasty too. My only complaint is our waiter was a bit of a mess. I had a couple of questions about the tacos and she didn't seem to know what I was referring to (even after pointing, saying it twice and my fiancé even translating in Spanish). We ordered the guac but she waited 5 minutes after putting the order in to come back and ask if we wanted everything it comes with (which I'm glad she did but why not ask in the beginning). My fiancé's dish came out wrong and he had to send it back and then at the end she put the guac on our bill twice. The food was decent and they seem like they're being good about distancing with covid but just watch the servers and look at the bill! read more

We've seen a couple owners/managers of this place and the current team they have now is by far the best. The food is great and comes in large portions. I always leave with a to go box. And, the staff is friendly, upbeat, and just all around fantastic. They've done a lot of work inside and we love the way it's set up now. Very happy with this place! Stopped here last night while travelling, looking for a nice dinner but fairly quick. We read the reviews, did not disappoint. It was really good food, fantastic friendly staff, delicious and filling dinner and very inexpensive. There is plenty of seating, and they did accommodate a slight change my wife requested. We were delighted by this restaurant. It's quite large and attached to a bar. The food was excellent and we really enjoyed the tour of salsa! The service was very very slow....it took 3 hours for us eat...we had no where to go but still. We were only a table of 4. On the plus side everything was extremely fresh. The chips were amazing too. Food here is some of the best Mexican I've had in northern Virginia......however........I'd give it five stars, but we came to eat on the patio (called ahead and was told they had outdoor seating) and when we arrived, no one was wearing masks and the manager said they can't seat us outside because it wasn't sanitized. I asked if they could, and he said it would take too long and can't seat outside. The irony that no one inside is wearing masks (staff or patrons) but they can't sanitize the tables outside for us to sit outdoors away from all the unmasked patron and staff....is nuts. The food here is nice but the service is outstanding. They have a salsa bar with a dozen plus salsas. My favorite is creamy chipotle, which is spicy and slightly sweet. The spicy salsas are actually spicy, even to my husband's more heat-immune palate. The have a lunch buffet which I've had numerous times. Typical hot offerings are tacos, taco salads, rice, a fajita mix, cheese sauce, chimichangas, and enchiladas. The cold bar include taco toppings, orange slices, churro chips, and various cold fruits. I also often get the Chori-Pollo and, while the chorizo is always delightful, the chicken is under-seasoned about half of the time. I did have a SUPER delicious and expertly seasoned Pollo Yucatán recently, which I look forward to ordering again. The ground beef mixture is good. The taco salad shells are crisp and buttery. The staff here are outstanding. They work as a team. My drink is never empty, there is never a wait to be seated even when busy, and it is always perfectly clean. We drove past this place last night and decided to eat here this round. I went for fajitas for 2 so my boyfriend could eat more protein (def a great deal). Shrimp were surprisingly a big size, steak and chicken quality was ok. He opted for chipotle chicken, 2 pretty thin slices of chicken with sauce, beans and rice... little boring for me and the size of the chicken was not that big. They do have a salsa bar where you can help yourself to any salsa u want... that was pretty fun and interesting. The tableside guac looked great but we skipped it this round. I came in at 9:08. About 1 hot before close. I ordered the verde enchiladas. $9.75. The margarita was on special for $4.99. The margarita was a little bitter and did not taste great. The food wasn't amazing, especially considering there are 3 other Mexican restaurants within 5 minutes that can make better verde enchiladas. The chicken was dry. I poured cheese on it to try to make it taste better. $3.99 for the cheese dip. When the dip came out, it was chunky on top and so I wasn't really able to eat about 1/3rd of the dip. The salsa is very very salty so be ware. My taste buds were taken back when I dipped a chip in the salsa. The rice was not fresh and tasted a bit chewy and reheated. Edit: I added an extra 2 stars because the staff was very nice and tried to fix the drink when they noticed I wasn't drinking mine. This was a bummer. We have been coming here since we moved to FR in 2018. We haven't been in a few months and in that time, portions are smaller, prices are higher, service is slower and the margarita I got tasted like mix only. Walking out I noticed two tables had also left quarter drank margaritas. This was our favorite place in town. The fajitas still had good flavor, but again price went up 25% and they cut the portion. Chips, salsa and cheese sauce were good. Tacos were good in the sense the meat wasn't watery therefore the shells weren't soggy. The ground beef used in the tacos and enchiladas is bland. I love enchiladas and only had a bite. I cannot put my finger on the seasoning that was in the enchilada sauce. I was not a fan. Also the enchilada wasn't prepared the way I have been accustomed to. It wasn't a baked enchilada, it appeared to be meat only thrown into a barely warmed corn tortilla rolled, sauce and cheese atop to the just melted state. The fried ice cream wasn't fried!!! After a long and difficult hike of 6miles in Shenandoah park, we were starving, tired and definitely needed strong drinks!! We decided to stop there and definitively were not disappointed with food and customer service. We ordered frozen and on the rocks mango margaritas for $8 , they were pretty big cups and must say delicious and strong! Our waiter, Ricardo was delightful and attentive as we kept asking for more chips and salsa( they free and the salsa has a nice hint of spicy to it) . Oh they have a salsa bar that is totally free to dine in customers.. their variety of salsa is great for every taste buds.. my favorite one was the spicy guacamole. I ordered a California burrito, at first it was covered with cheese and i am not a big fan of that.. but Ricardo was prompt to take it back and get me a new one and he did apologize cause on the menu it didn't mention cheese on it. I'm impressed more than anything that the worst queso I've ever had, the worst enchilada I've ever had, and the worst strawberry margarita I've ever had were all at the same place. First off, a Mexican restaurant that calls queso "cheese dip" is an immediate red flag. Enchiladas were honestly embarrassing. To the chef-- are you ok?? Very good Mexican for a casual night out. Sat outside on a beautiful early spring evening. The homemade salsa is excellent. Queso fonduito, table side guac, and chilie relleno are standouts . We've eaten at this place dozens of times, often once weekly, but today it was like a different place. The lunch menu was completely overhauled and the prices had just about doubled since last week! Also the standard lunch specials (#1-10) and Speedy Gonzales were no longer available and they were our go-tos. Worst of all, the waiter seemed very unhappy today. It used to be all the staff were very consistently upbeat and happy -- all smiles, in fact -- so this was odd. The salsa bar also is not what it used to be. This is a place you really need to make a booking. We were waiting for about 30mins and got a small table right in the middle of the restaurant. Very funny. But they arranged us to other table later. Our ordered were Mushroom pizza an a Green salad. Both with great taste, their endless cron chips with the sauce was fantastic too!! And, they have salad bar for lunch, will try next time if we go again. Food there was good, but the waiters and waitresses made so many mistakes, those kept our waiting time even longer. And, all of them were too busy so nobody could listen to what we really wanted to ask. People came and waited at the front door entrance, but none of them came to us and asked about the waiting list.
