Pork tacos (not always available so be sure to ask) very good.

We stopped in while doing a load of laundry. The dip was great, full of flavor and warm chips for dipping. The Pastor tacos were full of flavor, and some extra fresh jalapeños to top them off. The Molcajete was amazing, it is enough for multiple people or a lot of leftovers. El Maguey is our go to for Mexican in Front Royal. Better reviews to follow.

    Vegetable Burrito: this was decent.

We were looking for restaurants around the Skyline Drive before entering the Shenandoah Park. We found this Mexican restaurant in the area and decided to give it a try. One of the things I didn't like was that they were not flexible at all about creating something vegetarian for me. They had a vegetable burrito and that's all they would offer. I asked them if they could make me tacos with veggies, and they said no. I found that quite strange. I ordered the Vegetable Burrito, and it was decent. The veggies were not seasoned well inside the burrito. But the sauces around the burrito was delicious. I wish they had more veggie options and also were flexible enough to make tacos or other things with vegetables for me. Overall, not a bad place to try it out. My family who ordered the non-vegetarian food loved it.

We went there on own way back from a tubing trip in Front Royal. We went at 4pm just missed the lunch service but still could order their specials. It was a big group of 20 people for a birthday celebration and the staff was able accommodate us. They put us in a separate section. Considering the group size, the service was relatively fast. My margarita was nicely strong. My fajita came sizzling. The portions were big. Relatively inexpensive. One suggestion for improvement : the chips could be served warm. But again, they were free and plenty. So won't complain nor reduce stars. My half mex friend mentioned his horchata was good. So, consider it passed the taste test. Overall a nice experience and highly recommend.

What a hidden gem! My friends and I were trying to decide a place to eat, and one of them highly raved about this place. I'm always hesitant, because I haven't found any solid Mexican food in the dmv area since I'm from the southwest. So I definitely had reservations going in this restaurant. I was so pleasantly surprised! Their menu is huge. Like there's a ton of selections and combos and ways you can order depending on your appetite. I really craved enchiladas, so I ordered the enchilada verdes. It was yummy!! Definitely spicy, which was nice, and everything reminded me of my hometown. They did not skimp out anything - the meat, sauce, sides, and they had free chips and salsa! I left very full, like unhealthy but no regrets kind of full. The ambience is nice. It accommodates a lot of different group sizes. They seem to always have new dishes and good deals on drinks! If I'm in the area and very hungry, I'd definitely come back.

    Peep those margaritas!

Found this gem while in town for work. A little apprehensive due to the size and hidden location in a strip mall. Wow. The place is hopping. Live music. Great service. Typical chips and salsa offerings. Glass was never empty. Any staff member passing by would refill without asking. Had the very flavorful and filling Patricio Burrito.

Friendly and helpful service from the young lady who took our order. We waited about 5-7 minutes for our food. Double Cavern Burger with cheese, single Cavern Burger with cheese (extra pickles), chicken tenders, large fries and two types of frozen custard. Custard was delicious. One of us ordered a single vanilla on a waffle cone. Dude must have put in extra, because it was HUGE. The triple scoop s'mores frozen custard wasn't so big, but it was creamy and tasty. Burgers and chicken were greasy, not in a good way. Lots of oil at the bottom of the chicken cup. Double Cavern buns were soaked in oil. Other than the oil, the meat was good. Plenty of toppings, even adding a good amount for extra pickles.

Well...one evening we decided to try the custard at both establishments, back to back, and rate them. My girl and I both agreed that the custard at B&L had a better taste and consistency. Certainly a very unofficial test, but both of us were adamant that B&L's custard was superior. So...if you want one of Spelunker's famous burgers and fries, absolutely go there...but stop at B&L for your custard dessert fix. They pointed us here just off 522 near the historic district. The parking is a little funky here and hard to describe. I can see chaos ensuing on a typical warm summer evening but we were here well before dusk and the only ones at that. The server was friendly and talkative as we approached the bright white trailer to place our order. We each got a cone, mine vanilla and my wife's swirl. She surprisingly didn't get her's dipped in chocolate. Pro tip: the small size is plenty big for most mortals. Our custard was satisfying and definitely hit the spot. They have some picnic tables and umbrellas to sit and enjoy your frozen delights while people watching others trying to get in and out of the narrow one way parking lot. Lastly, you might need some patience turning left out of there to get back to 522 but after a nice cone or shake you should be plenty chill to make it easy.
