We were enjoying a stroll around Main Street when we came across Down Home Comfort Bakery. They have a nice selection of goodies to browse in several glass cases: cookies, cakes, muffins, cinnamon rolls, pies, and more. We went with the cookies and cream mini cake, a cinnamon roll, a Shenandoah cookie, and a chocolate chip muffin. Everything was delicious, with great texture and flavors. Service was friendly and the bakery has a nice homey atmosphere, with some tables available to eat in.

Everything I tried was amazing! Best cinnamon roll ever! The sourdough bread is delicious! My absolute favorite is the fudge pecan pie! I cant wait to eat the breakfast bar tomorrow! Shai was a sweetheart and knew all the ingredients and everything there was to know about the products they sell. Including the alcohol content in the moonshine pies which looked amazing but I stayed away from those since I am an ex-drinker. I travel and live in my RV fulltime and I live for places like this! Highly recommend this yummy gem in the mountains!

My husband was attempting to go to the Vibrissa Beer next door with his boss, but they got distracted by the smells of cinnamon and deliciousness coming from here. This place smelled good enough to distract two grown men from beer... Hubs thoughtfully brought home some lemon bars and chocolate whoopie pies and they were both hands down the best I have ever had. The lemon bars were flaky and crisp on the bottom, but soooooooo creamy on top. Delicious. The whoopie pies were awesome. The filling is just... better. It is almost coconutty. Way better than the normal whoopie pie filling I have grown up with. I am glad we don't live closer or I would go broke and get fat(ter).

How lucky was I to come in at exactly the right time and get a hot fresh pecan sticky bun?? To set the scene, it was about 3:30 in the afternoon on a Saturday. We had just got done having a few beers down the hall at Front Royal Brewing. Walking back out to the car and then BAM a captivating whiff of something so sweet and beautiful. The scent was calling us. It didn't take much else to persuade me that we needed whatever was coming out of this bakery. We didn't even make it to the car before I decided that this would be the best thing I eat all winter. The taste was just as good as the smell. The sweet stickiness of the pecan caramel sauce and the soft bun were just amazing. Go support this family owned bakery if you are anywhere near this small VA town!

This place smells like home. You come inside and you want to taste and get everything. Cinnamon Rolls are to die for and you can even get them to customize your rolls according to your own choice. The owners of this bakery are such sweet hearts, it was an absolute pleasure talking to them. They also have pure wildflower honey which is priced well and nothing in this shop is over expensive. You must must MUST stop by and show them some love. Highly recommended.

    Triple Berry Cinnamon Roll

I stopped by for a quick bite before heading on a hike. Two gentleman welcomed us as we walked in with big smiles and vibrant personalities, the lady behind the counter was the same. They recommended some fresh baked triple berry cinnamon rolls that were hot out of the oven - an offer I quickly accepted. There is a slogn on their door that states "Just like grandma used to make" and they are not lying, love must be an ingredient because you can actually taste it in the cinnamon rolls. The triple berry connamon roll was made with Maine Blueberries, the best money can buy, blackberries and strawberries. These cinnamon buns have risen the bar for the other bakeries who attempt to compete. 11/10, wouldn't even consider changing a single thing. I ate the whole thing before remembering to take a picture, I was in an absolute trance while eating it so you'll have to stop in for yourself to enjoy!

Wanted something sweet to take home to my boys at home after a trip to Shenandoah and this place was the perfect spot! We entered from the side as it shares a side entrance with their neighbor Front Royal Brewing. Huge fresh pecan sticky buns & cinnamon rolls (and only 3.50 each!). I also picked up a Shenandoah cookie (made with apples) and a classic chocolate chip. They also sold homemade jams and pies and cakes. This place has a few seats, but we just came to pick up treats.

    Cinnamon Roll ($3.50), soooooooo goooood

I'm not the first, nor will I be the last person to talk about the cinnamon rolls here. They are TO.DIE.FOR!! Especially when you get them straight out of the oven! (You'll definitely smell them as soon as you walk in). The icing is absolute perfection and just melts in your mouth. We picked up a couple of them, along with their sticky pecan bun (also delicious) and enjoyed it outside the gazebo area in the beautiful autumn weather. It was stupid how perfect it all was :) Also, Keith (bakery owner) is a very nice man and explained that all items are made from scratch. They even make their own brown sugar! You can feel the love and dedication put into the baked goods here. A Front Royal gem :)

I'm usually not a white wine drinker, but my fiancé ordered a glass of Terre d'Abruzzo Pecorino, and I was pleasantly surprised. It was incredibly crisp, bright, and refreshing--one of the rare white wines I'd happily order myself. For dinner, we had the Il Misto in garlic sauce and the Linguini Vongole in garlic sauce. A fun touch was that they come around with freshly grated Parmesan and will keep sprinkling it until you tell them to stop. The Il Misto was loaded with a generous variety of seafood, and the garlic sauce leaned creamy without feeling too heavy. The Linguini Vongole was equally enjoyable--the clams tasted fresh with a pleasantly briny flavor that wasn't overly "fishy," and the pasta was cooked perfectly al dente. Overall, this was a satisfying Italian dinner with quality seafood, attentive little touches, and a wine that unexpectedly won me over. I'd definitely come back to try more of the menu.

I wish that San Marzano sauce was on those balls, though! The atmosphere was more "Italian diner" than "nice restaurant", but the food was good enough to please everyone. Tables were kinda jammed together. Service was great though as the waitress was always stopping by to see what else we needed for our meals. Our table got a bit crowded for 3 of us, but that's probably because we're pigs.

I got an iced Turkish rose pistachio latte (less sweet since the flavor combination sounded pretty indulgent) and it was absolutely incredible. It came with cream on top and was honestly one of the best coffee drinks I've had in a long time. I also grabbed an almond croissant, and it may have been the best one I've ever had. Exactly what I needed on a tough hike. The inside feels like a cozy living room with tons of live plants and so many cute little corners to sit and relax. Everything was spotless, the staff were super friendly, and the whole place just had such a welcoming vibe. This added a serious "umph" to our hiking day. Highly recommend if you're in the area! Wish I could give this place more than 5 stars!
