Hands down the most dirty restaurant I have been to in a long time. 75% of the tables still had plates and napkins all over them, napkins on the floor and chairs scattered all over the place. Came at 3:30 and only one person in front of us in line and it took 25 mins to get our food. During this entire time waiting, at least 10 other people came in. They literally had 3 people working the entire time and not anyone coming to clean the tables, clean the floors nothing. The health department should show them a visit. I used to love this place. But the service was poor,a woman at the counter was being condescending to another customer as she walked out. I ordered a online order, waited a few minutes (which is ok) they were busy (again ok) but the lady like threw my order onto the counter, which I was kind of taken back at. I said thank you, no acknowledgment. I paid $30 and the food was so tiny, and terrible it's was almost laughable (almost, I was still hungry after)! I won't be back, at least not to this location. This restaurant unit needs help, more staff - I visit this place almost every Sunday for breakfast, and lately it's been having one or more problems of variety each time. Examples: some days there's no brown sugar for coffee, which also constantly run out. Their creamers are another thing that constantly runs out of. About 1/4 of the time their touch screen kiosks are not working or unavailable, and sometimes they don't have their pagers for waiting on orders. In recent weeks, more customers are coming in, so the understaffed hands struggle to get orders out, one time the custom Asian salad I usually order that normally takes 10 mins took over half hour. Nothing wrong with the food, honestly, but they need to hire more associates/workers to handle the increased customer demands and to keep up with ingredient supplies. Yet another unhappy customer. Panera should note the dismal ratings they get and do something about their shameful customer service. I ordered a green goddess salad but I told the cashier that I didn't want a side but instead I wanted extra avocado. The cashier said he couldn't do that so I asked to talk to the manager. The manager told me "the way Panera works, we charge for extra avocado." I told him I was eating keto and couldn't have a side and instead requested extra avocado. He told me he would do it this time and then he proceeded to start to lecture me about how the employees in the future wouldn't be able to accommodate me blah, blah, blah. I told him I don't need your lecture, just ring me up. This is the way Panera should work; empower their employees to make minor adjustments to keep people happy. Panera lost a customer today. I am done being nickle and dimed by corporations who don't care to keep their customers happy. I have been coming here since I started school at Cal Poly Pomona with my sister and this place is great! My sister and I always come for their pick 2 on the menu so you can have 2 portions of foods we can pick off on each other's plates. The last time I dined in, some of the tables were clean, but not all of them were. I really think the staffs there should check on the tables at least every 30 minutes to see if they need to clean them or not. Other than that, the service is great; especially when I forgot to substitute my bread for an apple instead. They still let me have the bread on the side, which was nice. Also, don't forget to put your plates and utensils away in the bins near the trash. It's not really a dine in service where a diner comes to take your dishes away. Have not been to Panera for sometime since my last encounter with the rude female manager. Couple months ago I had to meet up a client that chose Panera in Walnut. Nakya the cashier was the best employee there. She greeted everyone with a happy smile, friendly and helpful. That's what a customer service attitude should be. I give her 10 stars for having such a positive attitude. She is in the Sunday morning shift for sure. So I jog to Panera to have breakfast and see her smile. Great job Nakya! Short and simple, the people that work here are incredibly rude and weird. I ordered a sandwich for the first time ever and showed up 10 minutes after it was supposed to be ready and they gave me the strangest look like I was trying to mess with them. I told them my name, showed them the order on my phone and then they simply told me "someone stole it". I said "Okay... can you make another?". They asked if they could see my order in detail. At this point, I believe they thought I was trying to scam them? I said "Absolutely". They then proceeded to make another sandwich (took 1 minute) and then said "Try to show up on time next time" What the hell? You don't need to be a genius to think this and I've never even worked in the food industry, but maybe say "Sorry for the inconvenience"??? I come here occasionally for the Sip club subscription that costs nearly 13$/month and their drinks are constantly out or their soda machines don't work 66% of the time. Every time I put in an order, I have to ask for a cup because they REFUSE to put it out. Their excuse is that "people steal them". They also consistently run out of large cups so I just started bringing my own cup if I still have one and then they act like I'm stealing; I'm just trying to not waste more plastic. It doesn't matter most of the time anyway because they never have drinks at this specific location. Why am I even paying for this subscription? On top of that, this place is so dirty, it's crazy. Panera bread is always delicious! Our first time here was great because they had very friendly staff. We ordered the pick 2 option and ordered a grilled cheese sandwich (extra cheese which cost $1 something!) And creamy tomato soup. Along with a small bowl of mac and cheese... which is our favorite! We also ordered the new chicken tortilla soup. This soup came in all larger bowl and it costed almost $10!) This location has the constant issue of not putting out drinks that are ordered in advance. I don't know what they do with it but the order never shows up on the screen and it's almost always necessary for me to ask a team member for my coffee cup or a drink cup because they won't put it out unless you do. When you order through the app, it says to go to the pick up area and wait for your item but it's guaranteed that it's never put out on its own even after 10 minutes like they just completely ignore the drink only orders. I used to have this issue a year ago and canceled my sip subscription and decided to give them another chance but I'm canceling it again because I don't have time to wait and or be ignored. read more

This WALNUT location has the worst sandwiches and Paninis I have EVER had the misfortune of tasting. I still have ptsd episodes of the one wretched bite I had of the abomination they dare to call a pannino. That is saying a lot, people, I am a sandwich fiend and try them everywhere. Case in point: Frontego Chicken Paninni consisted of A RAW red onion chunk on cold , fake-looking imprinted-with-grill marks bread. The cheese was not melted enough (on a authentic paninno, cheese should be oozing out the sides, with browned and crispy edges..makes me suspicious about how they actually make these 'panninis'...are they actually made on an actual paninni press?) and the chicken chunks on it looked boiled and had no seasoning, no flavor (see photo). Chicken salad sandwich sounded so good. Seriously, it was the worst chicken salad I have ever eaten. Limp lettuce, so blandly insipid, NO flavor whatsoever. I added salt and pepper but still, no flavor. About a Tablespoon of a room temp chickeny mixture on each half (see photo, I kid you not), and unevenly distributed so one bite was plain bread and lettuce. Absolutely no caring or thought was put into making this sandwich, which is a crime in my sandwich rule book. Plus the chicken salad itself it was lukewarm. Blech. When I told the girl at the front the sandwich was inedible, I was offered a free pastry. Great, thanks. Total: $38.37. I really think all the commercials, which are so well done, give the impression this place is so amazingly delicious, 'clean' and fresh: Nothing can be further from reality. Only the baked goods are alright. The food itself is not just mediocre, it is gross. I don't understand the hoards that go here everyday. Have they never had a good sandwich before? Its a mystery. This is a very dishonest location. I didn't want to list my recent experience here but after wait for over a week for its cooperate to resolve the issues I have gotten no responses. I made 2 attempts. I placed an online order for the curbside pickup. We are very careful during the COVID and have been reheating all the takeout. I arrived 5 minutes before the takeout time, checked in and waited for over 30 minutes. I called and was on hold for another 10 minutes before I reached a live person. I was told that there were out of stock items in my order so my food got "set aside". They didn't even bother to communicate with me knowing I was waiting. They forced me to replace with other items which I declined, they said the ONLY way to get a refund Is yo go inside which defeats the purpose that I order curbside. They were helpless and refused my refund. I even gave them a big tip when I placed the order. This is the treatment I got!! Very disappointed. Would never go here again! Although the wait times aren't always the best, I can safely say that the staff is friendly and kind. They will make sure that you are accommodated. This review is mostly to highlight the exceptional service I received from Jarald. My order was mixed up with someone else's and I tried calling the it customer service. I spent two hours and no one ever answered. At which point I decided to call the store and as the manager on duty he pulled up my original order and asked me to come in whenever I was ready.
