'm done with Panera. It started several months ago when they were letting their coffee urns run dry and then making patrons wait for fresh coffee to brew. Not just wait for them to swap out the spent urn. This was during the weekday morning rush. Today was the last straw. I went in with my family for Sunday morning (11:30) breakfast sandwiches. As I began to place or order I was curtly told "We stop serving breakfast at 11". Really? On a Sunday? In retrospect, the empty bagel baskets should have been a clue. See ya Panera. This location is terrible. Visited again today and for the umpteenth time, they got my order wrong. This after assurances from the store manager that signing, staff meetings, etc would be implemented to ensure correct orders. I ordered an over easy egg sandwich on a bagel, and received a scrambled egg sandwich on a roll. This location is the height of incompetence. read more

4 stars because its a Panera.. a chain restaurant exactly the same as the others, but I will regale you with my experience. I walked in, the elderly lady cashier took my order and explained patiently how the menu worked (it's been awhile since I've been to Panera). She took my order and my money efficiently and gave me my beeper. About 2 minutes later it goes off and I had my Asiago Steak with Chicken Noodle soup..... (musta hit a slow time). Everything was tasty and well done, I almost licked the plate clean, but I was starving. I left and no unfortunate aftermath... so I will call this a win. But its a Panera... a glorifed fast food place, so there is ALWAYS room for improvement! But in short, I recommend it and will be back. read more

Customer service? You won't find that here! Our clerk was jumping the gun and didn't wait for my Panera card and then audibly sighed when she had to run it. Then she proceeded to tell me I had a free coffee last night on the last day of the month and assumed I didn't want it and closed out the sale. Not exactly sure how a drive thru is a good plan for a place like Panera, as prep times are significantly longer than your usual "fast food". I'll give it a shot soon and come back with an update. Everything was as expected of a Panera, and the crew seemed to have a lot of pro help via temporarily transplanted employees to make sure everything ran smoothly. Odd that I couldn't find more than one garbage in the whole place. Wandered around near the front a few times looking for it before realizing it was toward the back. I go here on a pretty regular basis during my lunch break. I always order online and do rapid pickup do to my busy schedule. On many occasions I was grateful for this service as I have come in on very busy days when the line is to the door. I like being able to walk in, grab my order and leave. I'm actually taking the time to write this review because I recently had an experience that really impressed me. I ordered online as I usually do. Upon going to pick up my order I did not see it on the shelf. They had actually put it aside because the desert I ordered could not be completely full-filled. I ordered the 4 macaroons package. They only had 1. For the mishap, they offered me my choice of any other 3 desert items, no restrictions. I was shocked and actually told them one cookie would be fine as it evened out in price, but the manager wouldn't hear of it. He insisted on giving me 3. I thought that was very nice and wanted to be sure in return I gave an awesome 5 star review. Service has always been great here, never had a wrong order and the food is always fresh. read more

I am very sure there are plenty of other locations that are good. This one is terrible! The bad experience starts right out of the gate with the white haired older gal at the register. I walk in and deliberately stand far way from the line against a wall. I wanted to look at the menu and not feel rushed. This employee makes a point to single me out and pressure me to order. I decline and say that I'm still deciding. That apparently wasn't direct enough for her. She just stood behind the counter starring at me and made a point to say "are you ready ? ", I finally caved and ordered anything to get her to leave me alone. I started to order and without even allowing me to ask a question or address specifics . She immediately said chips etc.. with that, not a question but a decision she made. I had to stop her and tell her no, first I need to address what I want on the sandwich. She was annoyed that I interrupted her rapid fire routine. I ended up having to bypass all courtesy's and straight demand that I get no Dressing etc on my food. I had a bread choice but forget it at that point. I get my order and yes, a small dark hair was right on the plate. Forget it, food tossed . I decide I'm done and as I walk out, she is harassing another still deciding customer to get their order. There are other places to eat around there. You should go anywhere else! read more

I like the concept of this restaurant but it does not seem to come through in the food. The sandwich I ordered, they did not have the correct bread for it so I had to substitute. The menu stated it had fresh basil but when I opened the sandwich there was one small piece of fresh basil with stem and flower on the entire whole sandwich . This was also true of the first sandwich I ordered there , when they first opened, that called for Sun Dried Tomato . There was only two small pieces on the entire sandwich. The parts of the sandwich that contains all the ingredients was absolutely delicious but the rest of the sandwich left much to be desired. The smoked chicken was very flavorful but not cleaned properly, there was a very large piece over half inch of cartilage ; not very appetizing. I was at this establishment on 05/02/15. Around 730 pm. I took my soccer team for dinner a total of 14 kids. So I was rationalizing maybe 15-30 min wait however by the time we got our drinks and sat down my pager was going off, my first thought was the food can't be ready; but to my suprise it was ready and looked great everything was as ordered and mind you I spent $108.00. During dinner the Manager came and talked to us I thought it was because of the order but she actually inquired about our team. After talking to us she proceeded to talk to the other patrons as well, so I guess it's her routine. I felt very homey and friendly Kudos to you all. Nether the less Southington Panera you get 10 starts from me and my team so that's 15×10 so u got 150 ratings that's better than diamond. Keep up the good work guys. read more

Absolutely the worst experience I've ever had at a Panera. I typically love Panera and look forward to my experience and even since the pandemic have visited multiple locations and understand the new policies put in place. However, this was irrelevant to pandemic policies entirely. We attempted to go through the drive-through at 7:30 PM when the location close at eight. There was no one at the drive-through to receive our order so we proceeded to pull up to the pick up window and no one noticed us or came over to ask what we needed. Then we parked in the front walked through the rain to go inside the restaurant and we are again ignored with no staff member at the ordering counter at all. After we went all the way to the back and waited till someone noticed us to ask if they were even taking orders we were told "we better be quick" with a full half hour till closure. Then we proceeded to order on the kiosk as there was still nobody at the register for us to verbally order and found that they were out of almost everything we wanted. Including a side baguette which is a Panera staple item. We came to find out later that they did have the baguettes but the machine was not updated. However, this was after we already chose a different side item. We finally received our food and as we walk to the drink machine to fill up our cups the mop bucket was blocking us because it had been left out in the middle of the restaurant. Thoroughly disappointed and will not be visiting this location ever again. This specific location is a disgrace to all Paneras. read more

Customer service is everything even if a restaurants food isn't good if the customer service is beyond excellent customers will return. Also customer service is one of the very first impressions a customer will get about a restaurant or company as a whole. On that note I drove to the drive thru and I intended on making a big order. As soon as the employee started speaking she already had an uninviting tone to her voice and seemed to have an attitude like she was mad I dared drive up and try placing an order. Very off putting as soon as I drive up. I asked for BBQ Mac and cheese she said "uhhh we don't have that sooooo" like she was mad I didn't know that were out of Mac and cheese and gave me attitude. I thought if this is how they treat customers that give them their hard earned money I can take my business elsewhere, a restaurant where they treat their customers with respect and have positive energy. So I said never mind and went down the street and got food elsewhere. Panera bread this is not a good look for you and your company and your employees should have basic customer service skills and should be giving Panera bread a good image not making you look bad and making customers not want to go to your restaurant due to your employees nasty attitudes. read more

One star because my last order was wrong. I got charged for something I ended up not getting. We ordered online and went in to get it. We got home and found that the bowl of soup we ordered and paid for was missing. The manager claimed she couldn't refund the money but took my address down and said she would send me a voucher for a free dessert. Their policy is to offer a dessert when they get your order wrong. I never got it. This happened a few weeks ago. So if I decide to order online again.. I will unpack the entire bag at the counter in front of the employees and check my order. I enjoy Panera to begin with...but this location is the shiznit! They have a drive thru....GENIUS!! I also like the location! I love breakfast here and lunch/dinner. I have also used them for catering before and they do not disappoint! Some of my all time fav's: Chicken noodle soup, French onion soup, tomato mozzarella Panini, chicken salad sandwich, Caesar salad, apple salad, cinnamon rolls, latte's, yogurt parfait and chocolate chip/oatmeal/peanut butter cookies!! Newly opened near our office. Not a huge fan of Panera in general, but it's convenient for a quick (HA!) stop for a bagel or breakfast sandwich on the way to work. Generally ok service, the guy who works in back preparing (heating) the sandwiches is great, the counter staff is meh. Today was the last time I'll be visiting this location. I walked in, and was the only customer. The two girls behind the counter were taking inventory or something. I stood at the register and waited. And waited. Coughed a little. Waited. Rattled my keys. Waited. Dropped my keys on the counter, and finally got their attention. They greeted me, and one of them walked away. The other one ran to the register, and continued her conversation with the other girl, and continued writing. I looked at her and said 'never mind, I'll go to the bagel shop across the street'. Her reply: 'Oh, no sir. It's OK, I can take your order'. I wouldn't have minded waiting so much if there were other customers ahead of me, or if there was a fire behind the counter. But to wait that long to be greeted, and then have to wait even more is really bad customer service. As the only customer in the store, with two people behind the counter, I shouldn't have to wait at all. With a bagel shop across the street, and many other choices within a mile, they really need to step up their game. TL;DR - I waited way too long for insipid bland food, only to be told that it was OK to give my order. read more

When they make a mistake on an order they make it right. They omitted an item from an order that I picked up. So I decided to drive back and bring it to their attention, after we enjoyed our lunch. The manager was very apologetic, and offered me a $15.00 gift card to make up for the mistake. That is one stand up way to do business. Thank you Panera, I will be back. read more

I've been here a few times and never had an issue. Cinnamon crunch bagels are great for a nice sugar rush. Plenty of seating. Free wireless. I have used them for business appointments in lieu of a well known coffee chain due to more seating. I like the booths. read more

One of our two favorite spots for coffee. Comfortable atmosphere. Every staff member is friendly and goes out of their way to make every customer feel at home. Great Panera if there are managers around watching employees, and you order at the register. If not, sometimes service is sloppy and slow. Their new touchpad ordering system is not efficient enough, so I would skip it. They forget to put out pastries with your order, so you have to go find someone and tell them you didn't get some of your food. They also forget to follow custom orders. And I don't mean like obnoxious requests; they simply don't comply if you chose "no peppers" or "extra chicken", which isn't much to request in my opinion, especially since there's literally a "CUSTOMIZE" option on the order screen. Overall, avoid ordering from the screens here, they aren't ready for it yet. read more

So I was behind two elderly people they were looking for a specific type of gift card and asked the cashier if they would be able to call the Wallingford store and see if they have any. The cashier then called over the young female manager and asked if they could call the Wallingford store. The girl looked confused and then told the cashier to tell the elderly couple that they need to make the phone call. This generation knows nothing about going above and beyond. I have always been an loyal Panera customer. Until this location opened. Every time I come here, there is a problem. I am always missing things from my order, or getting wrong food items. There is always a wait at the drive up. Instead of having people who order way too many items pull into a parking spot, they let them sit at the window while other customers with very small orders wait. They also rarley have the full size tubs of cream cheese in stock. I will not be going back to panera after my last visit. This location is horrible. read more

I went to Panera Bread last night shortly before closing. I wasn't sure of what I wanted. Gabby, the woman who took my order was so patient. Even so close to closing, she took time with me to help me decide. So friendly and kind. Very efficient. My turkey sandwich was delicious and had lettuce, tomato, onion, mayo and spicy mustard on wheat bread. Also had cream of tomato soup which was also delicious. Great service, Great food. read more

I had once vowed to never go back, well my granddaughters came to visit and they love Panera so i thought oh well, things have changed in Panera in Southington, the salad was delicious, the chicken also delicious, and i ordered the large Classic Chicken salad and everything was fresh and i enjoyed, the staff was very nice . So on Sunday night i thought i would try and see how the take out salad would be, the salad was delicious, and they did not skimp on the chicken, the salad mix was fresh. So i am now a fan of Panera Bread. Looks like things have changed for the better. The salad was well worth the price the best take out salad i have had in awhile. My how things have changed. The worst Panera I've been to out of the 7 I've dined at. They never have fresh coffee,the kids change the time tags on the coffee and not the coffee itself. The coffee stations are always so messy. They also run out of baked goods and bagels too soon in the day. They never make enough. I'm friends with a manager from another location and he told me the Panera in Southington is not a good franchise. He was correct. The kids that work at night are clueless and never keep busy. That location sucks after 6 pm. read more
