Was more than pleasantly surprised!! I expected some average food given the prices. I was admittedly spoiled where I am from in WA state...had an amazing Greek restaurant we visited a few times a month. Since moving to CT we have hit up some others. While none were bad, nothing left us feeling excited to go back. Until Gyro Love. The food looked, smelled, and tasted very fresh, not "mass produced". Granted it was slow while we were there (they seems to do a great takeout business) bit the service was stellar. They were all genuine, no robots going through the motion. Seemed like it may be family owned/staffed but not certain. I am guessing so because of the way we were treated....the little things mattered to them. Even without the food and the amazing smells you can tell the level of pride they take in there. The atmosphere is anything but cookie cutter restaurant. It was a relaxing feel of a Greek hangout. Since we were there and the menu doubled up with the other side of the business, PizzaPie wood fired pizza, I went for a small calzone as well. Let me just say 37 years in the Army taught me to eat. I was vert shocked when the "small" calzone cameout especially given it's price (14.50). You can't go a block.in CT without finding a pizza joint but this one stood out. The crust qas light and flaky, not heavy and doughy like many calzones. Flavor was on point as well. If.you are thinking... Not a fan of Greek food. Don't miss out.on this place. My wife and I were visiting Southington CT recently, and our stay extended longer than we expected, which included last-minute plans for dinner. We decided to try Gyro Love because it was right across the street from where we were shopping, and we love Mediterranean food. We were really glad we found this Restaurant because the food and service were great! My wife and I both ordered the traditional Gyro, and it was delicious! I've been coming to Gyro Love for a while now. Lately I haven't had too much time to write reviews, but after my visit here today, I had to use a few minutes to jot down some thoughts! I've never been disappointed coming to this place. I always get the falafel, and it never disappoints. Fresh, hot, crisp on the outside, very flavorful...great stuff! They pile on the cool toppings of fresh tomatoes and cucumber, which adds the perfect balance to the hot falafel. The pita bread and fries seem like they are always hot and fresh as well. I normally use hot sauce or some hummus in the place of the tzatziki sauce. The perfect all around meal for me. When I go with my wife, another thing we get is the sample platter, which has pita bread, hummus, baba ghanoush, dolmas, etc....awesome stuff! And please put the pickled onions on your food! They are the perfect condiment! In addition to the food, the service is what matters to me the most. Everyone is pleasant and helpful. This is more important to me than anything else sometimes! Everything was edible, but nothing was very good. Hummus was soupy and bland. My gyro didn't have much meat, but lots of cucumbers and onions. Stopped in to get a gyro its hard to find one who does traditional lamb sliced off a rotisserie. They have lamb beef combined it was very good. Best Ive had in area. Also in same establishment they have Pizza. Friendly place, my waitress was excellent. Im coming back soon. read more

I'm shocked this place doesn't have a higher rating. I love gyros and stopped here on the way to my hotel on a work trip. Of course I was going to order a gyro. I asked the person taking my order if I should get fries or onion rings as a side. They said to get onion rings if I was in the mood for something different but their fries were really good. He was being humble. They are terrific and were served piping hot right out of the fryer. The gyro was also terrific. Great tzatziki sauce and fresh veges (the standard tomato, cucumber and onion). The gyro was huge and so was the serving size of fries. I agree with another review, it's really high quality food and generous portions for the price. They also brought out free house made bread before the meal. Finally it's a bright clean place with friendly, attentive service. We just ordered dinner from Gyro Love (Uber Eats) after a long afternoon of gardening. We don't order out very often (because we love cooking), but after a night of hard work we really needed something fast and satisfying. I ordered a Falafel Sandwich, my husband ordered a Chicken Gyro Sandwich, and we split an order of the Greek Fries. We both took a scoop of the Greek fries and started snacking right away... and they were great. Well seasoned (I love salt) and fried nice and dark with lots of herbs and feta cheese. I'm sure they would be incredible if we actually had them at the restaurant. After that, my husband and I dived into our sandwiches. We were both quiet for a minute, and then I said "This is really good", then my husband said "Yeah, mine is actually really good too". We are often let down with delivery food so this was a really good surprise. We kept eating, and both agreed we would order again. My husband even ventured out to say this Gyro was better than any of the gyros he had growing up (and he loved those). Everything was fresh, seasoned well, and you can definitely taste the fresh herbs. Our Baklava's are sitting in the fridge, but can't wait to dive in. Thanks for the great dinner! read more

Tip your waitstaff! Food... If you're a gyro place, please make sure your beef and lamb or chicken gyro meat isn't dry. Now... It's tasty , very well seasoned and cooked properly on a vertical rotisserie. It's cut too thin that you can literally watch it dry out on your plate. Perhaps upping the doner knife a click thicker? The cool tzaziki sauce is the savior for lubricity, however,it lacks the punch of garlic I am accustomed to. Mixed grill platter is enough for 2, lamb chop is always cooked to well done, so it lacks in juiciness. Pizzas are good. Soft dough from a presumably high hydration. By the slice pieces are enormous. Missing a bit of the char leoparding that I prefer when ordering from a brick oven pizzeria. However, this is of the better pizzas we have had since moving to the area. We were served hummus with pita bread as we waited for our food order. The mixed veggie grilled platter was amazing..super delicious. I recently ordered the House Meat Gyro Sandwich. It was delicious. It could have benefited from a bit more of their included tzatziki sauce, but it was still very good. Decent size gyro... Not the largest gyro I've received from places, not the smallest. Quick. This was the highlight. I called and asked, and the girl told me 10 minutes! Good and quick service over the phone and in person. This is one of those evaluations where I'm a bit torn between two ratings. I'd rate 4.5 stars if I could. However, I'm going to be pulled to rate one less star than 5 due to the cost. $12.99 for one delicious gyro is a bit more expensive than most similar gyros I've ordered. I ordered mine to go, so seeing tax on food ordered for carry out when I'm from Ohio seemed crazy to me lol. Actually brought the total for one gyro to-go to $13.94.
