I ordered an egg white, turkey sausage sandwich. I took one bite and realized there was no sausage. I brought it back and asked them if it was missing the sausage. They said no, it's cooked into the egg white (?). I said how does that work, is it ground up or something? And two ladies said, yeah, something like that. I love Panera. Not so much because of the food but because of the atmosphere. My girlfriend and I go here on a fairly regular basis and grab a couple of cookies and a couple of coffees and hit the studying hard. They have big booths with plugs so we usually end up being those annoying people who sit there for hours. But hey, they do have a lot of seating. This was a bad experience based on service. Only 1 cashier who did have a difficult customer, but he took 10 minutes before asking manager for help. Then when she showed up, she did not seem concerned at all that 8-10 customers were in line waiting for the dispute to be realized. No apology. No effort to muster more cashiers to the front. Businesses should place a higher priority on fast and effective service, especially if one customer decides to make a big deal and hold up others. Returned seven months later on a Sunday morning. Was there as doors opened. Very slow service again. It seems to be the set-up although the employees do not help each other out. I want to like Panera I really do but they are starting to fall off my radar after a couple of failed attempts. I've had an assortment of their sami's as well as their french onion and broccoli cheddar soups. I commend their numerous meatless options but after every meal there I find myself thinking, Eh, it was just ok but I should have gone somewhere else. Good portion sizes and kudos for offering apples as a side but my taste buds just don't jive with the food here. Ordered a bowl of chicken noodle soup and a sandwich, my soup was more like a cup than a bowl with 75% of it being broth. Sandwich was not to my liking, came with 2 small strips of steak and a bit of burnt cheese. They did replace my sandwich, which was supposed to be mayo lettuce cheese and turkey, what I got was turkey lettuce tomato onion and mustard, very disappointed with this location. Paneras at 151 and I 410. This was a really good restaurant but all things change. Yesterday we ordered a chicken salad sandwich and a salad (salad was supposed to have chicken. In all fairness there was a small amount of chicken but that was all. In the old days when you ordered a chicken salad sandwich the chicken salad was always more than enough. On 6/2/2015 I went to Panera for lunch only to find it closed due to "technical difficulties". This is the second time in a month that I have encountered the same little sign on their door. My question for them: Technical difficulties is a pretty broad statement and has little to do with a restaurant ... particularly when I saw people coming out with food on BOTH occasions. Panera is totally overpriced for what it is. For what you pay for a small meal, I could go eat a full meal at another restaurant, fill up my gas tank, and donate to charity. That being said, it is delicious. I get my hair cut nearby, so every 3-6 months at haircut time, I will ready my bank account and head over for some sammich-eating. The few times I've eaten there, I was very pleased with my selections. My most recent sandwich was a mozzarella/portabello panini which I'm sure that I could have eaten at least 2 more of. I would love if there were more/different side items - sometimes an apple, one kind of chips, or (another) piece of bread just won't cut it. How 'bout you throw me a fruit salad, regular salad, some pasta, or a even a caprese or tomato/cuke salad? I love the atmosphere at Panera. It is clean and comforting and smells great. Those baked egg souffles are so good but they go quickly. We are always delighted when we arrive and see there are some available. Hmmm...maybe it is not a good idea to share w/everyone how good they are. Only order from this Panera Bread if you have time to eat in or are picking up your own order. When I ordered delivery from them so many times (at least once a week) and they forget items from your order 80% of the time and then give you a hard time to get compensated. I've been told I can drive to the store and pick up missing item (unacceptable) or I can tell them the next time I visit to get item for free (free!!! I already paid for it and you didn't include item so it wasn't delivered and now you treat me like I'm asking for a favor!). And if you do ask for your missing order item the next time you're in store they treat you like you're lying to them asking you for managers name and date of missing item. The last straw was when their delivery service or someone at Panera stole my credit card information and ordered themselves a $80 meal from another restaurant immediately after my order was placed! Fortunately i always look at my bank account when placing online orders and saw the charge. Had to report my card as stolen and go through the hassle of getting another card. First off. I have been to this Panera two days in a row at 11 am for lunch and the place is mildly busy. And that's how I like it!!! No long lines. I was sad to see that they don't have the Avocado Cobb salad anymore but I tried the Green Goddess salad which is superb and you don't feel fat afterwards :) I like that they have comfy "love seats" to sit in while you eat because I like to do some reading as well. I ordered my food on the kiosk at the front, placed my tracker on the table next to my chair and within five minutes a young man brought me my food. I like the idea of Panera because it's fresh, healthy food. Unfortunately it failed to wow me. First, the menu is easy to read but doesn't describe the sandwiches which is a problem because you don't know what's in them just by reading their name so a description would be nice to avoid questions. I ordered the pick two meal, which gives the option for a cup of soup, a half salad or a half sandwich. I chose the turkey and artichoke sandwich and potato soup. Once I received my food I was surprised to see the amount of soup I had been served. It was in a large bowl and I definitely wasn't expecting that much. It tasted ok but it sure wasn't the best soup so I didn't finish it. My sandwich was just average as well. I didn't know it had grilled onions or spinach in it. This wouldn't bother me but the artichoke was almost nonexistent ( i ordered it just for the artichoke) and the spinach overpowered the sandwich. It wasn't a bad meal, but I just didn't enjoy it as much as I had hoped. So to sum up: huge portion on a cup of soup (too much of a bad thing because if it were good I would've been happy), the menu is unclear for a newbie, and food is only average. Before watching a film at the Alamo Quarry theatre I decided to grab a quick bite from here after being extremely let down from my experience at Firehouse Subs a few days before. I've always been curious about Panera Bread ever since this one place I used to work at about a year ago brought a bunch of baked goodies from there. I was craving a meatball sub and asked the girl at the counter if they had any. To my dismay they don't make meatball subs so I ordered an Italian sub combo, which came with their signature kettle chips and a drink of my choice. I asked the girl if their lemonade was freshly squeezed. She gave me a smart aleck reply "We don't squeeze the lemons ourselves." Uhhh whatever lady. You know what I meant, is the lemonade natural, meaning is it real lemonade or is it the crap that comes from the fountain like Country Time or Minute Maid? I wasn't in the mood to argue to I took my cup and filled it with the acai berry tea and sweetened it with 2 Splendas. My sub was ready as soon as my number was called. Unlike at other sub places you have to put your own condiments. Not bad since most chain sub places * ahem Subway ahem* get a wee bit overzealous with the mustard. The bread was fresh,soft on the inside and crusty on the outside and they were generous with the meats but didn't get carried away. The kettle chips and sliced kosher dill pickle spear complemented the sub just right. I was impressed. Now on to the really good stuff, dessert! Panera Bread's selection of baked goods is good enough to outshine any chain coffee shop's selection. Whether it's scones,cookies, sticky buns,cinnamon rolls, chocolate filled croissants or cookies that your sweet tooth is craving, Panera Bread has that scratch to soothe your itch. I had to get a chocolate croissant. The same smart alecky lady at the front had to go into temptress mode by asking me if I wanted anything else as she noticed me eyeballing the other pastry selections. I made the foolish decision by asking for her recommendation for a 2nd choice and she suggested some caramel sticky bun in some muffin liner. Ugh sticky bun was too rich for my blood but maaannnnnn hook me up with that chocolate croissant will ya please!!!! So to sum it all up, Panera Bread Is the perfect place to come if you're looking for a healthier alternative to Subway but please try to look away from the pastry selection if you're on a diet and if you can't look away then just consider it a test of how strong your willpower is. read more

Panera was once my "go-to" sandwich shop. Sadly, this location has made me rethink supporting the entire chain of restaurants. We stopped in to pick up a late lunch "to go" on Friday. The restaurant wasn't very crowded. There were only 2 customers in line ahead of us. All staff members were wearing masks, and there were plexiglass partitions around the cashier stand and bakery area. So, at blush, this was going to be a great experience. Nope. The menu has been significantly reduced, possibly due to COVID, I don't know and quite frankly it isn't any of my business why they made that business decision. My personal favorite, the Sierra Turkey sandwich was removed from the menu before COVID, but smoked turkey and a variety of bread options were still available. Now, the restaurant doesn't even offer smoked turkey, and bread choices weren't available either. Okay, fine...the grilled cheese certainly looks delicious on the TV commercials (albeit a caloric extravagance), so I ordered that, a glass of tea, and the "new" mocha coffee iced drink. My dining partner selected the Chicken BarBQ sandwich and tea. As an afterthought we were given cups for our tea. The service area for drinks was filthy. Trash and spilled beverages littered the counter. The unsweetened tea dispenser and two other beverage dispensers were almost empty. Sweetened tea was not even an option. As we proceeded to the "waiting area" for our order our shoe soles were sticking to the tile floor as we walked. The floor was obviously dirty and/or had been improperly cleaned. We waited approximately 10 minutes for our orders. Ah, at last, our much anticipated sandwiches were ready and we headed to our vehicle with the to go bag! As we unpacked the bag and then opened our sandwich wraps dismay and frustration overwhelmed both of us. My lukewarm grilled cheese consisted of excessively thick and mushy white bread with a huge glob of rapidly cooling cheese in the center. My companion's lukewarm chicken sandwich had a hint of bar bbq sauce, a couple of fresh onion strips and a dollop of shredded chicken on the same type of excessively thick and mushy white bread. There were no pickle spears. No side fruit or fresh bread, just these 2 very anemic sandwiches and 2 bags of chips that were "sample size" at best. Ah, yes...my iced mocha coffee. Ugh! I used to live in the Medical center and we occasionally ordered a dozen bagels from the location in Huebner Oaks when family was in town for easy breakfast or for work events. I ordered a Bakers dozen for the first time yesterday for my family who has been visiting for the holidays. Multiple bagels in the pack were stale and tasted days old. Luckily there was no mold but the taste and lack of freshness is not what I had expected from Panera, especially since I never had this issue with the Huebner Oaks location. If I am going to pay the same amount per bagel I expect them to all be of the same quality. Service was prompt and people inside were courteous. read more

I so love Panera bread company. This particular store continues with my love of Panera. To me if you want a great bagel breakfast sandwich this is where you go. I always get the Asago bagel sandwich and my husband gets the Jalapeno bagel breakfast sandwich. We always get a cookie to share to tide us over until the sandwiches are ready. Their mint chocolate Cookie was so yummy. It was like a brownie cookie in that it was really moist and had great flavor. I have had one of their gingerbread men cookies and it was okay - nothing special. I have gone for lunch and their clam chowder is very creamy and had chunks of clams. My niece had the broccoli cheese and she was very happy with it. This place also has free wi fi so that is always a bonus. Overall this is a great place to come if you want either a breakfast or lunch sandwich and a cookie :). Eat well and be safe. read more

After years and years of a good friend telling me "If you're really a sandwich person, you have to try Panera", but I just was never in the mood for a new sandwich place until recently. First of all, we show up after the gym (still pretty sweaty-gross-I know) and the place feels like it's below zero. That was probably the first bad thing to happen to us. After reading and reading and reading over the menu, I think we decided what to order. "No flat bread today"... Ok. Let's try this again. Reading and reading and reading. I'm going to say this (hate me later) there are way too many options here. After we sorely take our number and grab a seat, our food arrives cold. We ordered the wrong stuff. Cold food in a freezing store. Not smart! However, I see the Panera Bread fans in all of the booths. I get it, I really do. This is a great place to study, have meetings, grab bread. Panera is yet another example of the chain you come to expect boring repetitive service and food that makes it reliable even as it's boring. This particular case I find myself slightly odd by the grunge and dinginess of the overall environment as I don't believe this location to be old enough for the accumulated level it has reached. my every visit usually stems with some level of disgust for the fact that I see managers and employees restocking things such as sugar packets and straws but somehow nobody can find the time to pick up a rag and wipe down the dirt crumbs the sticky soda spills or other miscellaneous filled building in the corners and crevices that I suppose no one but myself bothers to look into. In my not-so-humble opinion you are only as good as your cleaning practices, what you present to the world is indicated of how much you care and the level of effort you're willing to put forward to keep your customers. I'm sad to say that this place is frequent it enough they will likely not change this habit because they have enough of a customer base to allow them a sense of denial about the state of the dining area. as for myself, the rare occasion I do come up on the begging of someone because of some pastry or other that they enjoy here, I'll do my best not to look into Corners crevices or table surfaces so that I might not be put off to the level that I'm incapable of ordering food for fear of what the kitchen is like. read more

This is just like any other Panera in any other state. We have them in California, and stopped in for a quick salad on our way back to the hotel. The place was desolate, not sure why. The manager was very attentive when I brought up a delay in the order and even won me over with a free cookie. The food is usually fresh and tasty, but I'm disappointed with the price of the food here. There is no reason why a sandwich meal for two should total $20.00. I'd heard several things about Panera. I had a club meeting and we met here. I had the cheese and tomato panini. It was a lot bigger than I thought it would be. It was pretty good. I went here for an early lunch a couple of days ago. When you first walk in you are greeted with a wonderful display case of mouth watering pastries such as cherry danish and croissant. The waitstaff was very friendly as I ordered the You Pick Two lunch special. I picked the Sierra Turkey cafe sandwich and Black Bean soup. My drink was iced green tea sweetened with Mango and Passion fruit. Bagged chips from Panera itself were added to my plate. The sandwich was a fresh as if I had made it at home. Though next time I will go without the red onions. They decided to talk to me later on. The soup was not bad, but I would have preferred a little spicy bite to it. The tea, wow! I also have been placing my order earlier to ensure that I get a cinnamon bagel since y'all ALWAYS run out. Would give zero stars if I could. My daughter visited the Lincoln Heights location yesterday & got food to go. She chose a "Four cheese soufflé" from their display but when she got the bag of food home, found they had switched it out for a different one. They put a burnt soufflé, instead of the one she selected, in the bottom of her bag of food. Bait & switch? (See attached pics of what it's SUPPOSED to look like--from their website--versus the disgusting burnt one we actually got.) It was totally gross & inedible. Tried to choke down one bite, it got stuck in my throat & then it took forever to get the nasty burnt taste out of my mouth. Threw it in the trash. Wasted $. Tried to call the manager, but NO ONE ANSWERS THE PHONE. Tried to call again this afternoon (between 3:00 & 3:30 pm, certainly not a breakfast or lunch or dinner rush time of day), & they STILL are not answering the phone. Even tried the catering option, & no answer there either. Heck, I could've been trying to cater a wedding for all they know! I had a great Asiago Roast Beef sandwich that really "hit the spot." Little did I know that this was exactly what I wanted to eat and exactly how I wanted it to taste. So strong work with that! I was bothered by the abundance of trays laying all over the tables. Although it doesn't appear that there is a staff member dedicated to tidying up, it does appear like they need one. Another huge plus... the temperature of the place was perfect. I didn't need a wool sweater and didn't need to rip off any clothing either. Great location and a great meal! read more
